Wei Sucheng was quite a character. Instead of supporting his own sister, he sided with Wei Ya, whose background was a mystery. Wei Tiantian's gaze at Wei Sucheng was tinged with disdain. She valued sibling bonds deeply and held no respect for a brother who disregarded his own sister.
"This morning, I found this on my dressing table. I thought maybe Mom and Dad felt bad that I didn't have any jewelry and sent it to me. But who would have thought..." Wei Tiantian deliberately lowered her eyes to hide her disdain, her voice slightly trembling as if she were about to cry. It was a stark contrast to her earlier demeanor, almost making Wei Sucheng think she was a different person.
Wei Dongcheng's eyes flickered. He had always tried to treat both girls equally, but not everyone saw it that way. Most of the household staff favored Wei Ya, as she had been part of the family for over a decade, and they were familiar with her.
Compared to Wei Tiantian, who was a recently discovered relative brought back into the fold, even with the blood connection, she couldn't match Wei Ya's standing in the eyes of the staff. The difference was glaring. Even if their treatment appeared the same, in many ways, they were worlds apart. Take Wei Sucheng, for example. Wei Tiantian was his biological sister, yet today he had grabbed her wrist and dragged her to Wei Ya as if she were a thief.
In contrast, when it came to Wei Ya, even if she was being unreasonable, he always sided with her.
"Then why do you say this gemstone pendant is fake? How can you prove it?" Wei Dongcheng asked.
Little Momo, swap this gemstone pendant with a glass one, Wei Tiantian instructed silently. The main event was about to begin. Wei Tiantian smiled slightly; even if it was just to get back at Wei Ya for that slap earlier, she wanted Wei Ya to taste a bit of embarrassment.
"When my brother yanked this necklace off my neck earlier, I noticed the way the gemstone refracted light was different from glass," Wei Tiantian explained.

[New task activated: Make Wei Sucheng and Wei Dongcheng feel resentment towards Wei Ya and change the Wei family's perception of Wei Tiantian. This task must be completed in three hours, with a reward of 20 Karma Points.]
As expected—
Wei Tiantian knew things wouldn't be that simple. This system was indeed cunning; it could even read her thoughts.
Oh well, this task wasn't too difficult. However, getting Wei Sucheng to change his opinion of her would require some effort.
"This is clearly a real gemstone. How could it be glass—" Wei Sucheng didn't believe Wei Tiantian and picked up the pendant from the floor to inspect it. But halfway through his sentence, he fell silent. The pendant in his hand had lost its luster and was now just an ordinary piece of glass. Although it was finely polished, it was obvious at a glance that it wasn't a gemstone.
Wei Tiantian smiled silently, a slight curve at the corner of her mouth. It seemed this system was indeed somewhat useful—efficient yet tricky.
With guests about to arrive, Wei Dongcheng decided to wrap things up quickly. Seeing that the pendant was fake, he didn't say much more and simply instructed Wei Sucheng to take the two of them to greet the incoming guests.
"Since that's the case, it was just a misunderstanding. Let's move on and not let it affect the harmony between sisters," Wei Dongcheng said, ignoring Wei Ya's dark expression. "Sucheng, take your sisters to greet the guests. The party can begin."
Wei Sucheng was feeling quite frustrated, tightly clutching the pendant that had turned to glass. He had clearly seen a gemstone earlier, so how did it suddenly become glass? But there was no time to dwell on it. He had to follow Wei Dongcheng's instructions and lead the two to the door to welcome the guests, which was the priority.
However, Wei Ya was unwilling to let it go. She had expected Wei Sucheng to say something more, but he simply followed Wei Dongcheng's lead and brushed the matter aside. How was she supposed to maintain her standing in the Wei family now? How could she deal with Wei Tiantian or hold her head high in front of her?
"I'm not leaving! I put it on her table myself; how could it be fake?!" Wei Ya blurted out in anger, speaking without thinking and revealing her true thoughts.
Tiantian listened, a satisfied smile playing on her lips as she took hold of Sucheng's sleeve. Suddenly, she realized that as a brother, Sucheng wasn't so bad after all. At least he wasn't the kind of person who stubbornly clung to his own views. "Brother, the party is about to start. Let's head out."
Dongcheng's expression darkened considerably, but with guests about to arrive, he couldn't afford to say anything more. He simply waved for Sucheng to take the two of them out first, then hurried off to attend to his own matters, shooting a sharp glare at Ya before leaving.
Ya, oblivious to having angered Dongcheng, still wore a sullen face. Nevertheless, she followed Sucheng to greet the guests.
A few guests had arrived early and quietly observed the little drama from the corner, forming their initial impressions of Tiantian and Ya. Bloodlines are bloodlines, they thought. Some people just don't have it in them, no matter how long they're part of the family.
Tiantian, feeling quite pleased after putting Ya in her place, was all smiles as she greeted the guests, charming everyone she met. In contrast, Ya maintained her sour expression, ignoring greetings from the elders, which only highlighted the difference between her and Tiantian.
After the party ended, Wei Dongcheng called Wei Sucheng into the study to discuss something. The event was a great success, and Wei Tiantian's performance exceeded his expectations. She didn't seem like a child raised outside the family for over a decade; instead, she carried herself with the grace of a true lady.
On the other hand, Wei Ya's performance was a complete disaster.
Wei Sucheng had already made up his mind and was no longer as resistant to Wei Tiantian. The rest of the Wei family also held her in higher regard after the evening.
After all, she knew how to handle things.
[Task completed. Congratulations, host, you have earned 20 Karma Points.]
With the birthday party out of the way, Wei Tiantian suddenly found herself a bit bored. Life had become too leisurely. Perhaps because Wei Ya didn't perform well at the party, Wei Dongcheng and the rest of the family had developed some biases against her. There were even some rumors circulating in high society that Wei Ya wasn't the biological daughter of the Wei family but rather the child of a servant and a woman of ill repute.
