C7 Pretentious
Wei Ya's face showed a hint of discomfort as her friends crowded around her, asking, "What's wrong, Wei Ya? What did she say to you? Don't be afraid, just tell us."
Wei Tiantian watched the scene unfold, noting how popular Wei Ya seemed to be at school. But after today, that might change.
"I'm really upset. I'm so sorry, everyone. I shouldn't have brought my sister here. I shouldn't have let you all know about her," Wei Ya said, her head down as tears began to fall.
Wei Tiantian took a sip of the coffee the school had prepared. The bitterness spread in her mouth, but she showed no other reaction.
"What happened, Wei Ya? What did Wei Tiantian say to you?" her friend Xiaoling pressed on.
"She just told me that you guys aren't worthy of being her friends because of her 'noble' background. She also said if I don't listen to her, she might end up with all my jewelry by tomorrow," Wei Ya explained, tears streaming down her face.
Wei Tiantian watched Wei Ya's expression with interest. "Wei Ya, did Dad ever tell you that you'd make a great actress?"
Wei Ya wasn't naive; she understood what Wei Tiantian was implying. But she just wiped her tears pitifully, saying nothing.
Tiantian's friends looked at her with clear dissatisfaction.
"What do you mean, Tiantian? You're new here and don't know how to be humble. Saying we don't deserve to be your friends—who do you think you are? Or do you think you're too good for us?" a guy said, slamming his hand on Tiantian's desk.
Most girls would be scared to tears in this situation, but Tiantian remained calm and composed.
She shrugged helplessly. "I haven't said anything. Everyone just listens to Wei Ya. Is there really anything left for me to say?"
Tiantian's words hinted to everyone that they were only hearing Wei Ya's side of the story, and everyone was just blindly following her lead.
The guy, feeling a bit guilty, withdrew his hand, intimidated by Tiantian's presence.
"What's wrong? Cat got your tongue?" Tiantian asked, standing up as she noticed his retreat.
Though Tiantian was petite, her inner strength was undeniable.
Meanwhile, Wei Ya was off to the side, tearfully apologizing to everyone. "I'm sorry. Tiantian is so rude; it's my fault as her sister for not teaching her better. I really apologize."
Tiantian smirked coldly. Is that what she calls not teaching well?
"Wei Ya, you're really playing the innocent act well, aren't you? Do you even realize who the real heiress of the family is?" Tiantian pressed Wei Ya again.
Wei Ya looked genuinely upset. Deep down, she believed that as long as she maintained her fragile demeanor, people would eventually grow tired of Tiantian.
Everyone watching seemed to agree with this perception.
[Task remaining: three minutes. Failure will result in losing all merit.]
Tiantian felt an urge to curse at this useless system. She thought she had more time, but now there were only three minutes left.
Tiantian leaned in close to Wei Ya and whispered, "Are you happy with this situation? Does it make you look well-mannered? I put on this act just to make you more popular."
Wei Ya looked at Tiantian, puzzled. Tiantian's eyes showed no hint of deceit. If it was true, why was Tiantian doing this?
Tiantian continued to whisper, "Don't ask why I'm doing this. You need to understand that everything you have now is because of me. You can't change where you came from; everything is because of me."
Those words echoed in Wei Ya's mind, fueling her growing anger.
