C9 Disdain

Wei Tiantian sighed, feeling resigned. Despite her reluctance to face the Wei family, she had to go down for dinner.

Wei Dongcheng noticed how Tiantian never seemed to fit in with the family and felt a bit anxious. "Tiantian, I know my tone was harsh earlier, but the important thing is whether you understood what I said."

"Yes, I understood," Tiantian replied calmly, keeping her eyes on her plate.

Wei Ya scoffed from the side, her disdain evident, which didn't escape Dongcheng's notice.

"Ya, what's with your attitude towards your sister? Have you cut off contact with Zitao? If not, you know how I'll deal with it!" Dongcheng addressed Wei Ya sternly.

Feeling wronged, Wei Ya looked at Dongcheng. "Dad, how could I not listen to you? Of course, I've ended things with him. He used to date Tiantian, so why aren't you saying anything to her?"

Wei Ya was particularly upset, but Dongcheng responded, "At least they've broken up, and during their time together, it wasn't under our roof. Even if I wanted to intervene, I couldn't."

This left Wei Ya speechless, and she angrily continued eating.

After dinner, both Tiantian and Ya returned to their rooms without further conflict. Tiantian noticed Ya on the phone across the hall, and it was clear she was talking to Ning Zitao, despite having told Dongcheng otherwise.

Tiantian smiled, having already acquired the ability to see through walls, allowing her to witness everything happening across the street. She committed it all to memory.

The next day at school, word spread about how Tiantian had helped an elderly woman the previous afternoon.

As Wei Ya entered the school, she heard the rumors and looked at Tiantian in disbelief. "Did you really save someone yesterday afternoon?"

Tiantian nodded. "I guess you could say I did."

After she spoke, Wei Ya's expression turned a bit odd, as if she was both envious and regretful of her own actions.

Photos of Tiantian's rescue were posted on the school forum, showing another man present at the scene. However, the man's face was obscured, leaving only Tiantian clearly visible.

Suddenly, everyone viewed Tiantian as genuinely kind-hearted, while rumors circulated about Wei Ya's anger towards Tiantian over a family dispute, which led to Tiantian not taking the family car home.

As Tiantian returned to her classroom, she received a lot of praise, which she found quite satisfying. Meanwhile, a man walked past her, and she recognized him as the one from the day before.

Matching his pace, the man noticed Tiantian and asked, "Why are you following me?"

Wei Tiantian was at a loss for words. She couldn't quite understand why she kept following him. Finally, with her cheeks flushed, she managed to say, "I just want to know your name."

"That's not important," the man replied coldly, striding away from her.

The system's prompt left Wei Tiantian in disbelief. As the man moved farther away, was her only option really to kiss him?

[Only one minute left]

This ridiculous system! Wei Tiantian silently cursed it but quickly ran after him anyway.

The man was undeniably handsome, and maybe he would be the one at a disadvantage, not her.

"I'm sorry, but I have no choice!" Wei Tiantian exclaimed as she caught up to him. Facing his puzzled eyes, she leaned in and kissed him.

He struggled briefly, but it didn't stop her from planting a kiss on the corner of his mouth.

The man pushed her away forcefully and wiped his mouth.

Wei Tiantian sighed in relief, glad she made it in time.

"Alright, thanks for your cooperation. I'm off," she said playfully, waving goodbye as she turned to leave.

How could he let Wei Tiantian go so easily? Grabbing her hand, he asked, "You think you can just leave after kissing me?"

Wei Tiantian nodded. Was there something else she was supposed to do? Just a moment ago, this man seemed to find her annoying, and now, after a kiss, his attitude did a complete 180.

"Remember, my last name is Ning," he said, releasing her hand and disappearing from her sight.

"Ning... same last name as my ex, the jerk. It's a shame for such a great guy to share it," Wei Tiantian mused.

What Wei Tiantian didn't notice was a camera clicking away, capturing the moment she kissed him.

Wei Ya hadn't been in the best mood after hearing about Wei Tiantian's morning exploits, but by the end of the school day, she wore a mysterious smile.

Curious, Wei Tiantian finally asked, "You're in a good mood today, aren't you?"

"Yeah, really good. It'll be even better once we get home. Can you believe it?" Wei Ya leaned in close to Wei Tiantian, whispering.

Wei Tiantian knew Wei Ya was up to something but chose not to confront her. After all, there are plenty of ways to cheat the system these days, so what was there to worry about?

Once they got home, Wei Ya went straight to Wei Dongcheng, pulled out her phone, and showed him the photos.

Upon seeing the photo, Wei Dongcheng's initially calm expression twisted with anger because he saw Wei Tiantian kissing a man.

"Tiantian, get over here!" he shouted. Wei Tiantian, who was about to head to her room, was startled by his outburst, as it was the first time he had ever been so harsh.

Mrs. Wei, standing nearby, also saw the photo and her expression darkened. However, she tried to calm Dongcheng, saying, "Dongcheng, Tiantian just joined our family. Don't be so hard on her."

Tiantian felt as though this implied she had been raised by people of a lower class, which frustrated her.

Still fuming, Dongcheng demanded, "Tiantian, come here and see what you've done!"

Tiantian was puzzled at first, but upon seeing the photo, she realized, "That's not me. It's been photoshopped."

"Give it a rest, Tiantian. I even have the timestamp. Do you really think I'd bother to photoshop it?" Wei Ya sneered, clearly enjoying Tiantian's discomfort.

"Tiantian, it's not that I want to be strict with you, but how will you hold your own in society acting like this? Look at you, so forward, just like your adoptive mother!" Dongcheng regretted his words as soon as they left his mouth, but it was too late to take them back.

"So, you're saying that people are influenced by their surroundings, right?" Tiantian scoffed, addressing Dongcheng.

Dongcheng had indeed meant to convey that idea, but he realized his words might not be well-received. He understood how Tiantian felt at that moment.
