C10 Chapter 10

Duu Gu knew his little sister practically worshiped her mentor. But her outfit today looked like she’d gotten into a fight with someone—dirty and rumpled. And her mentor was famously neat. If she didn’t clean herself up, she might get punished.

“Mm.”

Duu Luo nodded. She didn’t know why seeing her mentor meant changing clothes, but she agreed anyway so she wouldn’t give herself away.

After Duu Luo returned to her room, she sat on the bed and reached up to press the bulging lens on her goldfish-shaped glasses. An intangible book appeared in midair. She flipped through it until she found the relationship chart and the page for Duu Luo’s mentor.

Duu Luo’s mentor had come to the Duu family when Duu Luo was ten, becoming her teacher.

“He showed up when the original me was ten… so it’s been about six years now?” Duu Luo clicked her tongue and kept reading.

Duu Luo’s mentor was a clean freak, with extremely high standards for his surroundings, and he preferred light, simple food.

“So he’s a total neat freak. No wonder my brother told me to change.” Duu Luo stuck out her tongue and laughed. “What if he’s that cold, no-nonsense heartthrob type? I have no idea what this mentor is actually like. Is he as good-looking as that NPC? Having a handsome mentor to look at would be pretty nice.”

Duu Luo’s mentor had a hidden background, incredible martial skill, and was also highly skilled in medicine and poisons. In this kingdom, he was someone everyone feared. He wore a mask every day, and no one had ever seen what he looked like. That only made him seem more mysterious and impossible to read.

Duu Luo read to the end, then flipped another page—after that, it was just other character profiles.

“That’s it?” Duu Luo nearly teared up. “Good thing he’s not a main character—if he were, I’d lose it. And wow, the system is lazy. That’s all I get for his profile?”

After reading her mentor’s intro, Duu Luo dove into the story’s main plot and the side content.

Once she finished the main plot, Duu Luo wanted to charge straight into that game space and beat Jiuyou to a pulp.

The “main plot” was this huge section, and it had only a handful of words—never mind the side content, which was even worse, with that “randomly appears” nonsense!

Make the male lead like you. That doesn’t necessarily mean love.

Yeah. That was it. That was the entire main plot—no beginning, no end.

NPC, get out here. I swear I won’t hit you!

Boyan’s room.

Boyan had, in fact, heard everything Duu Luo said to her brother.

He never would’ve expected her to claim he liked her. Before today, they’d never even met. How could he possibly like her? Where was that even coming from?

He couldn’t figure it out—why Duu Luo, that girl, would say something like that, or what she was trying to accomplish.

After tidying herself up, Duu Luo headed to the west courtyard where her mentor was staying.

When she arrived, her mentor was seated in the pavilion, playing a tune Duu Luo had never heard before.

Duu Luo stopped about six steps away, clasped her hands behind her back, and gently closed her eyes as she listened.

The melody flowed—quick, then slow—slipping into her ears. The irritation she’d been carrying eased, little by little.

When the song ended, Duu Luo opened her eyes and walked over to her mentor’s side.

Her mentor didn’t speak, and Duu Luo didn’t dare move. She simply stood there beside him.

“Sit.”
