C3 Chapter 3
“What do you mean my combat rating is zero? I’m basically bulletproof, okay?!” Duu Luo snapped. She wanted to switch characters—no way was she going to play through this with Boyan’s NPC face.
That last line came out through clenched teeth.
Jiuyou’s voice stayed calm and even. “Dear Player, we’re sorry, but once you select a look for your Prince Charming Conquest System target, it can’t be changed after the scenario begins. If you’d like to change your target’s appearance, please do so before the next scenario drop. Thank you for your cooperation.”
Duu Luo looked like she was about to cry. “Cooperate my ass. I don’t care if you’re here to play hero—how about you start by untying me?”
Jiuyou’s voice echoed in her head as Duu Luo glared at the hazy, insubstantial figure in front of her.
If he’d had a real body, she was sure she would’ve marched right up and kicked him a couple times—just to vent.
“Dear Player, since this is your first time using the Prince Charming Conquest System, the system will award you a New Player Gift Pack. Would you like to accept it?” Jiuyou’s tone didn’t change.
“Of course I’m accepting it,” Duu Luo said, not forgetting the very important detail that she was still tied up. The whole thing felt like a setup. She wasn’t exactly unlucky, but there was no way an opportunity this huge just randomly landed on her. Something was definitely off. “And listen—you need to untie me. If you don’t, I’m quitting the game. And don’t forget, whatever this system is, there’s going to be a rating stage later. If you don’t want me giving you a failing grade, you’d better cut me loose. If you don’t care, fine—I don’t care either.”
Hearing that, Jiuyou frowned for a moment, then smoothed his expression just as quickly.
“Prince Charming Conquest System gift pack opened successfully. Rewards: Prince Charming Impression Points x10, Illusion Spell x3, Strength +50%, Forfeit Option x1. Player level: Beginner. Impression Points and Player Level are linked—every 20 points raises you one tier. If you reach the Final Level in this scenario, you may choose to skip the scenario. If anything is unclear, tap your game wristband for details.”
Duu Luo blinked twice and didn’t say anything.
Whatever. It had already happened. Making a scene now wouldn’t help. The only thing she could do was get through this scenario as fast as possible—then she could go home, right?
“Since you have no questions, I hope you enjoy the game. If you need anything, call me anytime. See you next time.” Jiuyou gave Duu Luo a slight bow, then disappeared right in front of her.
Once he was gone, Duu Luo pressed a hand to her chest and headed for the door. But the moment she pushed it open, a teenage boy reeking of blood shoved his way inside and quickly slammed it shut behind him.
“Don’t make a sound!” the boy snapped coldly, pressing the tip of a dagger to Duu Luo’s throat. “Or I’ll kill you.”
