C5 Chapter 5
“I’d love to hand him over to you, but a few days ago he ticked me off. He accidentally broke my favorite thing. So now he’s signed himself to me for three years. For those three years, Boyan belongs to me. I’m the possessive type—what’s mine is mine, and no one else gets to lay a finger on it. So if you want to come after him, you can wait until the three years are up. And if anything of mine gets damaged during that time… I think you know exactly what kind of things I’m capable of. They don’t call me Little Poison for nothing.”
Duu Luo’s smile was bright as sunshine, but somehow it made people uneasy.
“And if you think the Duu family isn’t enough to make the Lin family back off, then my master’s name should do the trick. He dotes on his disciple more than anything. If anything happens to me, he won’t let it go.”
Once Duu Luo said that, who dared argue? Even the head of the Lin family didn’t dare breathe too loudly. They had no choice but to drop it—for now. The best they could do was wait out the three years, then deal with Boyan.
“In that case, we’ve imposed enough.” The man in front clasped his hands awkwardly as he spoke.
“Don’t worry. My medical skills may not be as good as my master’s, but I can handle an illness. When I have time, I’ll stop by the Lin residence and take a look at your young master. Maybe I can cure him.” With her hands behind her back, Duu Luo smiled lightly at them.
“Then thank you. If there’s nothing else, we’ll be going.”
After he said that, he led the others away. All he could think was: If that Miss Duu comes to treat him and doesn’t poison the young master to death, we’ll be lucky.
“I don’t have that kind of relationship with you.” Boyan stared at Duu Luo’s retreating figure. His hands hung at his sides, clenched into tight fists, and his voice was so cold it made your skin crawl.
“You don’t have any options right now. Your only choice is to accept what I just told you. From the moment I said it, you’ve got three years. For those three years, no one will dare lay a finger on you. So don’t thank me. And if you absolutely insist on thanking me…” She paused, then added lightly, “you could always marry me.”
“You helped me today. When I’m stronger someday, I’ll pay you back.” Boyan didn’t exactly like the way she talked, but he didn’t hate her either. She’d helped him, and he had no reason to resent that.
“I’ve been sick of that Lin family golden boy for a long time—I just never had the right excuse. You hurting him was basically you getting revenge for me. So we don’t need to do the whole ‘thank you’ routine between us.” She tilted her head, as if deciding on something. “How about this: come stay at my place for three years. After that, you can go wherever you want. I’m not about to let people outside say I was bluffing. And for a girl, that kind of rumor isn’t exactly a compliment.”
Even though her mission was to make Boyan fall for her, she couldn’t rush it. She could only take it one step at a time. Boyan was a cold, distant person—his background made that inevitable.
He didn’t care much about romance, either. All she could do was get him to slowly start feeling something for her, and then keep following the script.
Still, trying to win over someone who couldn’t care less about love was honestly brutal.
