' Finally, today is Friday . ' I thought to myself as I tried to stand up from the bed . I could not wait for today to end . I'm tired of school already though it's just been a week . I stood up from the bed and stretched my limbs . I only had two classes today which was a bonus for me . But we were going to have one of those awkward family dinners tonight just like always . Since my parents were not always at home, they picked two Fridays a month for a family dinner where we will tell each other what had been going on in our lives for the week . I was never thrilled doing that but for my mother's sake, I had to put up with it .

I entered the bathroom and took a quick shower then dressed for school .

I was going to pick Nyla up this morning . We resolved our fight and we are now okay .

I grabbed my car keys and headed for the door .

I was about to leave when mum called .

' Adolph ' I jerked my head and turned to look at her .

' Don't be late for dinner . ' she said her eyes going soft .

' Okay . '

' Promise me . '

Something about me was that I could not seem to ever go back on my promises and my mom knew that .

' I promise mom . ' I mumbled, went out of the house and closed the door with a sigh .

I entered my car and drove towards Nyla's house .

On my way to Nyla's, I thought about the last conversation we had . She was acting unusually weird . Nyla never acted weird . She always knew what she wanted and went for it . Hardworking, decisive and a bit controlling .

I took the turn to her house as I decided to totally forget we had the conversation .

She was already waiting in front of her house . She was in an armless red plaid gown with my leather jacket on top . I remember giving her the leather jacket last summer when we hung out and she got cold .

Was she trying to make a point ?

I unlocked the car and she got in .

' Hey . ' she called loudly, her usual cheery self .

' Hi Nyla . ' I replied quietly and reversed the car .

' Why are you not looking lively ? Is there something on your mind ? ' she asked a frown creasing her eyebrows .

' No . I was just wondering why you decided to put on my jacket today . ' I replied with a dry laugh .

' Oh . it's cold and it was the first one my hand found this morning . Is there a problem ? ' she said now looking confused .

I totally read it all wrong .

' No . Forget about it . ' I replied then gave her a genuine smile .

We got to school few minutes after the end of the conversation .

I spotted Ian and Tedrey at their car spot .

I was about to get out of the car when I felt Nyla's hand pull me back .

' Your insulin . ' she whispered .

My face immediately went hard . I hated the injection and I had to hide the pain I felt everytime I took it . Nyla knew that . She looked at me with sympathy and turned towards the car safe where I kept the injections .

I rolled the sleeve of my shirt up and turned my head towards the window as she prepared the shot .

I clutched the door handle tightly as I felt the needle pierce my skin . The pain was getting worse everyday . I waited for about two minutes for the burn to stop before I rolled down my sleeve and got out of the car .

I walked straight to where Ian and Tedrey were . I needed their goofy attitude at this point .

' Hey man . ' Ian called and we did the fist bump .

' How was the date ? ' Tedrey immediately asked wiggling his eyebrows .

' Ted . ' Ian groaned but I knew he was curious too .

' It was fine for a first date . ' I replied vaguely .

' Did you figure it out ? ' Ian asked his eyes following Nyla has she walked into the school building .

' Figure what out ? ' I replied staring at him .

' She likes you Adolph . Can't you see it ? ' Tedrey cut in .

' We are cousins . Family . ' I said firmly like I was trying to assure myself of it and shook my head .

' But she feels more . And it kills her seeing you with Nymeria . ' Ian continued .

' I'm guessing Nymeria figured it out too . When you guys were talking the day of your date, she was listening . I don't know how she could hear but I knew she was listening . ' Tedrey said .

I was still trying to process all what they told me when I spotted Nymeria across the car park . It was my first time seeing her drive and she looked so hot doing it .

She came out of her vehicle in brown heeled boots and a very short brow leather playsuit . The weather was cold but it was as if she didn't feel it .

She packed her hair in a ponytail, locked her car and headed towards the school building .

' Catch you guys later . ' I said distracted and followed my girl .

I met her at her locker and pulled her to my side .

' Good morning . ' I whispered .

She wrapped her hands around my neck and gave me a sound kiss .

I was going to love this relationship . I knew it deep down in my bones .

' Good morning . ' she whispered against my lips .

' What was that for ? ' I asked whispering back .

' I just wanted to . ' she replied giggling .

I gave her a soft look and smiled . Then she grabbed her bag, closed her locker and pulled me towards our first class for the day and I literally followed her like a puppy .

Well, what was not to like ?
