C4 Fivestar Reward Thunder Bloodline
After several rushed journeys to the Otherworld, I managed to gather some crucial pieces of intelligence.
Firstly, there's the matter of teleportation location. It's based on my own position; if I cross over from one spot, I'll return to that exact spot the next time.
Secondly, I gleaned some details about the Otherworld. For instance, humans exist there. On my first visit, despite it being a brief glimpse, it was clear that the individual using the restroom was a woman.
The human characteristics were unmistakable.
Moreover, judging by the voices I heard the last time I opened the door, it was two girls conversing in an incomprehensible language. Considering the gaps between several wooden planks in the room, I deduced that this is a place with a social structure—after all, they have public toilets.
Thirdly, this toilet must be a recent construction; the smell wasn't too strong...
Lee Yu turned over in bed and suddenly remembered something he'd forgotten today. "System, can you remind me to check in daily?"
...
"System, check in," Lee Yu said with a hint of resignation.
Then the electronic voice chimed in: "Ding! Check-in successful. You've earned 5 elementary level proficiency points."
Elementary level proficiency?
Lee Yu's interest was piqued, and he inquired, "System, what's the purpose of this proficiency?"
Proficiency can be used to allocate points.
With that brief explanation, the electronic voice went quiet.
Well, it looks like I'm on my own to figure this out—what else is new? I might as well act as if I don't have this system! Lee Yu smirked to himself, yet he pondered the matter earnestly.
The effects of the Purification Pill I received yesterday were nothing short of transformative; it's unreasonable to think today's proficiency points would be any less useful.
If I'm not mistaken, in many games, proficiency is used to expedite the upgrade of items (like leveling up firearms in shooter games).
Lee Yu ventured a daring hypothesis.
If I were to liken myself to a character in a gaming scenario, could it be that this proficiency could be directly applied to the skills I've learned?
With that thought, Lee Yu silently commanded, "Use elementary level proficiency."
The five proficiency cards vanished from his mind.
The very next moment, Lee Yu sprang up, flipping to the center of the room, as a sequence of fluid movements unfolded in his thoughts.
Blocking punches, tripping legs, pressing elbows, bowing steps, striking elbows, chopping ribs, and delivering lower blows...
This was the military boxing he had mastered three years ago!
After executing a series of fluid combinations, Lee Yu was neither red-faced nor out of breath, yet his eyes brimmed with astonishment.
"Damn it, how could I ever doubt the quality of the system's creations?"
It had been ages since he'd last practiced these moves, and his memory had been buried under a heap of other information.
But with the boost to elementary level proficiency, not only did the military boxing techniques become crystal clear again, but they also felt as natural as moving his own fingers. There was no hint of stiffness when he performed them.
What an incredible effect!
And to think, this was just elementary level proficiency. Did that mean there were intermediate and advanced levels still to explore?
At that moment, Lee Yu no longer saw the daily sign-in rewards as mere trinkets. He eagerly anticipated what tomorrow's sign-in would bring.
"If I hit the library, read up a bit, and then apply some proficiency points, could I bypass the grind of traditional studying?" Lee Yu pondered.
Ding! Sign-in location updated: the City Library.
The electronic voice announced.
A surge of excitement washed over Lee Yu. This was his second sign-in mission. What kind of random reward could he expect this time?
His first sign-in, in a restroom, had granted him access to an Otherworld!
Surely this time wouldn't disappoint.
Lee Yu checked his phone, noting the early hour. A quick search on Baidu confirmed that a taxi ride should get him there on time.
As he stepped out, he paused, then doubled back to the dining table to grab his unfinished breakfast.
He couldn't risk Huang Xiu catching him skipping a meal; he wasn't in the mood for another lecture.
...
Upon reaching the City Library's entrance, Lee Yu didn't rush inside. Instead, he murmured, "Sign in."
The system remained silent.
Lee Yu sidled up to a nearby wall, now just a wall's breadth away from the library's interior, and whispered again, "Big brother system, sign in."
No electronic voice came through.
Lee Yu wasn't too disappointed. After his attempt, he realized that there was no tricking the system.
So he headed for the door.
"The library's closed, student. Come back this afternoon," the security guard at the entrance informed him.
Crap! Lee Yu was startled. Had he really dawdled outside long enough for the library to close?
"I just want a quick look, just a peek! I'm not happy at all right now," Lee Yu pleaded as he moved toward the door. "Only studying brings me joy!"
"Hey, why won't you listen?" The guard, seeing Lee Yu's intent to enter, hurried over to block him. "If there's a specific book you're after, come back later. We've got a leadership inspection at noon."
"Alright, I'll return later then." Lee Yu, seeing the guard's resolute stance, nodded in resignation and left the doorway, his face etched with disappointment.
"That boy sure is studious," the guard mused, feeling a pang of sympathy for Lee Yu's forlorn figure. Reminded of his own diligent daughter, he called out, "Alright, come on in then! Just stay in the corner and keep to yourself."
At that, Lee Yu took off running.
The security guard was puzzled. Wasn't he just begging to come in and read? Why did he suddenly dash off faster than a rabbit when given permission?
Once inside a taxi, Lee Yu gave the driver an address and retreated into his thoughts.
The moment he had stepped into the library, he had checked in with the system.
The system's mechanical voice announced: "Ding! Congratulations, host, for successfully checking in. You've earned a five-star reward, the Thunder Bloodline. Would you like to claim it?"
In the back of the taxi, Lee Yu's brow furrowed. He didn't immediately decide whether to claim it.
Instead, he pondered over the system with the information he had.
The Thunder Bloodline, a five-star reward, clearly wasn't as precious as access to the Otherworld. So, did that mean the system's reward ratings ranged from one to nine stars?
More crucially, should he accept this bloodline?
Surely, he wouldn't face a soap opera scenario where, after claiming the bloodline, his DNA changed, prompting a paternity test from the old man at home?
Lee Yu's gaze was shadowed and uncertain as he found himself preoccupied with other thoughts.
"We've arrived, young man," announced the taxi driver.
"Right, the fare has been transferred," Lee Yu confirmed, having paid the driver, before he made his way back to the two-bedroom apartment.
"System, claim the Thunder Bloodline," Lee Yu commanded, inhaling deeply. He was ready to face whatever came his way, fearless.
Ding! Your five-star reward, the Thunder Bloodline, has been granted!
As the system's announcement echoed, Lee Yu was suddenly flooded with an indomitable force, erupting within him like a thunderclap unleashed.
His skin was etched with brilliant blue lightning, the arcs dancing and spreading across his form.
With eyes closed, Lee Yu felt the tempest within him settle, a sense of restraint as if the thunderous energy was being held back by an unseen force.
The door creaked open, and almost immediately, a startled gasp filled the air. Huang Xiu's voice, tinged with tears, called out from the threshold.
"Do you need 119? It looks like someone's been electrocuted. What do I do?"
