C46 Spiritual Plant Snatch

In the evening, after Lee Yu had finished tutoring Huang Xiu's homework in the living room, he unexpectedly came across a news alert on his phone. At around 8 p.m. that night, the Jun Hao Hotel was engulfed in flames for reasons unknown. The fire wasn't brought under control until 9:15 p.m.

"Yu, isn't the Jun Hao Hotel the same one we were at today?" Huang Xiu, who had also noticed the alert, asked with curiosity, "How did it catch fire?"

Lee Yu shook his head, "Maybe something in the kitchen caught fire by accident," he speculated.

He stared at the message intently before swiping it away. Was this the misfortune he had sensed looming on the horizon?

"You should get ready for bed," Lee Yu suggested, pocketing his phone and heading back to his room.

The coincidence was uncanny. Despite discussing it nonchalantly with Huang Xiu, his mind was rife with unease.

Why the Jun Hao Hotel, of all places? A fire starting in the kitchen of such a large establishment was an unlikely event, especially since there had been an exclusive auction on the top floor that very evening. Lee Yu couldn't shake the feeling that there was a connection.

They had left the Jun Hao Hotel around 7 p.m., and Chen Chengde was in the midst of transferring 1.5 billion yuan, a process that wouldn't conclude swiftly. It would have certainly still been underway past 8 p.m.

"Could it be related to the spiritual plant?" Lee Yu pondered.

The man in black who bid from the back row was highly suspicious. He had shown interest in two items infused with spiritual energy, though he had eventually ceased bidding on the spiritual plant.

Was it possible that he had given up in appearance only, not in intention?

The thought that he might have been desperate enough to resort to drastic measures, unable to produce the money, crossed Lee Yu's mind.

After some contemplation, Lee Yu decided to make a phone call. Once the call connected:

"Hello, this is Chen Jingfu."

Lee Yu pulled the phone slightly away from his ear, double-checking he hadn't misdialed. "Where's your grandfather?"

"Lee Yu?" Chen Jingfu sounded puzzled but responded, "My grandfather... he's been seriously injured and is in the hospital."

As Lee Yu had suspected, there was something off about the fire. Clearly, someone was acutely aware of objects imbued with spiritual energy and was willing to go to any lengths to acquire them.

After pondering for a moment, he arranged to meet with Chen Jingfu tomorrow to pay a visit to Chen Chengde, then hung up the phone.

Just then, the sound of a door closing echoed from the adjacent room. Huang Xiu had evidently wrapped up her tasks swiftly and was getting ready for bed.

Before long, Lee Yu could even discern the rhythmic breathing coming through the wall.

"Off to the Otherworld!"

With a mere thought, Lee Yu was on his way back to the Otherworld.

Considering that ten hours of sleep on Blue Star could equate to several days in the Otherworld, Lee Yu was not one to squander time—after all, time was precious!

Besides, catching some Z's in the Otherworld offered a better return on investment!

Six days there beat one day here, hands down!

Upon his return to the Otherworld, Lee Yu was greeted by the sight of the mimesis puppet, legs crossed, engrossed in absorbing spiritual energy. He took note of the thunderstrike wood in the puppet's grasp and couldn't help but be impressed.

"This is quite remarkable!"

The mimesis puppet sensed its master's presence immediately. Despite the vast distances of space and time, Lee Yu had reappeared beside it in an instant, tightening their bond immeasurably.

"Master, you've returned," the mimesis puppet spoke, closing its eyes. The spiritual energy within it began to merge with Lee Yu's, channeling directly into his dantian.

"What's this?"

Lee Yu's eyes widened in surprise.

For the better part of the day on Blue Star, he hadn't felt even a trace of spiritual energy, which meant he hadn't been able to gather any to increase his own. Yet now, he felt a surge of energy coursing into him.

And he hadn't even been practicing his cultivation.

"It's the mimesis puppet!" Lee Yu quickly realized the cause.

The mimesis puppet was genuinely capable of absorbing spiritual energy with the thunder attribute, not just feigning activity to follow his commands. It wasn't merely playing the part of a 'homebody'!

It seemed the potential of the mimesis puppet had yet to be fully tapped. If utilized effectively, despite its power always being a notch below its master's, it could be a formidable ace up his sleeve.

Capable of disguise, recharging energy, and autonomous thought when needed—truly, the System's creations were top-notch!

Suddenly, Qing Anqi's voice rang out from outside: "Lee Yu, it's time for us to hit the books!"

"Here we go!" Lee Yu thought, swiftly tucking the mimesis puppet into the system space before opening the door to find Qing Anqi clad in armor.

Lee Yu, puzzled, inquired, "What's this all about?"

To the uninformed, she looked ready for battle in her neatly donned gear. And there was something undeniably adorable about a tender young girl armored up, brandishing a saber.

"Weren't we supposed to have practice today?" Qing Anqi responded with a crisp voice.

Was there such an arrangement?

Had the mimesis puppet agreed to this?

Just then, the mimesis puppet relayed recent events to Lee Yu.

It had filtered out the mundane details, sending only interactions with people. Lee Yu breezed through the information.

"I never agreed to that, did I?" Lee Yu massaged his temples, his tone firm. He had assumed the matter was settled, but the puppet's feedback suggested otherwise—it had consistently refused the daily requests for practice.

"You're just scared of getting thrashed by me!" Qing Anqi retorted, visibly upset.

Though Lee Yu had been back on Blue Star for only a brief time, days had passed in the Otherworld due to its faster time flow. The mimesis puppet, despite inheriting much, couldn't utilize items like double experience points.

Meaning, while the puppet's learning pace remained brisk, it no longer shone with the 'Peerless' cheat code's luster.

It had become a one-in-a-million talent!

Qing Anqi noticed the puppet's decelerated learning curve over the past few days, which diminished her sense of an insurmountable gap, sparking a competitive fire within her to prove herself through daily challenges.

The longer the delay, the wider the gap would grow.

"Hehe, you naive little thing, I'll show you what being peerlessly unmatched means!"

With Lee Yu himself present, he wasn't about to let Qing Anqi keep up her antics. As they headed to the training area, Lee Yu focused his thoughts, and the proficiency-enhanced secret manuals from the mimesis puppet allowed him to bypass the basics and wield the techniques as naturally as his own limbs.

Inside a high-end private hospital in S City, within one of the private rooms.

"King Kong Talisman!" intoned a middle-aged man clad in a green robe as he passed his hand over Chen Chengde's body. Sensing a familiar surge of spiritual energy, his expression turned grim.

"Cough, cough. I'm useless," Chen Chengde spluttered out blood, his voice tinged with defeat. "I spent 1.5 billion, and to think, the item was still stolen from me!"

"Don't blame yourself!" the green-robed man interjected, producing a pitch-black pill. "This medicine will heal your wounds and could even help you ascend to a higher level. Consider it compensation for your troubles."

"Thank you, Elder. Despite my failure, you're still so generous!" Chen Chengde's eyes locked onto the pill, his voice brimming with gratitude.

Knowing the Elder, he wouldn't make such a claim without being at least 80% sure. An opportunity for advancement, even if it was just to the third level, was far more valuable than 1.5 billion!

After a moment of reflection, Chen Chengde spoke up, "Elder, I have a few suspects in mind, I..."

"No need to dwell on that now," the green-robed man cut in. "Let's focus on assimilating the power of the medicine first."

He was all too familiar with that particular spiritual energy fluctuation. Yet, it was unexpected that someone would dare to target him directly. Did they really think he was a pushover?

Unruffled, the green-robed man exuded an air of tranquility. Without any sense of urgency, he knew that by tracing the clues, he could reclaim the lost spiritual plant.
