C55 You Think I Am a Fool?

As soon as the idea struck him, Lee Yu made a beeline for the nearest 4S car dealership.

Upon his arrival, he was greeted by an enthusiastic staff member. "Hello, are you looking to purchase a car today?"

Lee Yu gave a nod in affirmation.

The staff member continued, "Great! Do you have a specific model in mind, or perhaps a budget or certain features you're looking for? I'd be happy to make some recommendations."

Now, that's what you call professionalism!

Contrary to the bumbling salespeople often depicted in novels, the staff here were well-compensated and savvy. Even if many customers browsed without buying, the sheer volume increased the likelihood of sales. Condescension was not in their playbook.

After all, a disheveled appearance could very well belong to a wealthy individual opting for a low-profile outing. An average person down on their luck wouldn't typically wander into a high-end dealership.

Sales staff were sharp and adept at their craft; they wouldn't let opportunities slip through the cracks.

"I'm looking to spend around one million yuan. I haven't really looked into models, so could you suggest a few with top-notch performance?" Lee Yu surveyed the showroom.

The dealership was impressive, with a wide array of models on display that offered a feast for the eyes.

One particular black sedan caught his attention, and Lee Yu made a beeline for it. "What can you tell me about this one?"

"You've got an eye for quality," the staff member said with a smile. "This is the BMW 760Li. It measures 5,250 x 1,902 x 1,450mm with a wheelbase of 3,210mm. It boasts a 4.0T dual turbocharged engine with a maximum output of 449 horsepower and a peak torque of 650Nm, coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission." The staff member rattled off the specs with ease before adding, "However, it's priced at two million, which is a bit over your initial budget."

Lee Yu took a moment to appraise the staff member, a woman in her twenties whose competence was as striking as her appearance. She had skillfully highlighted the car's features before mentioning the price, effectively piquing his interest.

Most people would likely be tempted to stretch their budget for such a car.

Catching sight of her name badge, Lee Yu decided. "I'll take it. Let's proceed with the card payment."

Huang Li's face lit up with joy. The commission on this sale was substantial. She had only given a routine pitch, not expecting such an easy close, especially without a test drive. Yet here he was, ready to seal the deal on the spot.

True to the saying, heroes emerge from the young!

"Just a moment, please. We have only one left in the store. I'll go fetch the purchase contract," Huang Li said before walking away.

Lee Yu remained in place, scrutinizing the car with increasing fondness.

Suddenly, a grating female voice reached his ears.

"I want this car! Can I, please?"

"Sure, sure, sure. Let's go have a look."

Lee Yu turned to see a young woman in her twenties clinging to a silver-haired man. Following their gaze, he realized they were eyeing the very car he had set his heart on.

Could they be father and daughter? Their behavior didn't quite fit the bill.

With a look of disdain, the woman sidestepped Lee Yu and headed straight for the BMW 760Li.

What a melodramatic turn of events, Lee Yu mused. Since Huang Li was already retrieving the contract, there shouldn't be any mishaps. And frankly, he had no desire to comment on the woman's antics.

"Darling, this car exceeds the price we discussed," the man said, his brow furrowing.

The unlikely couple examined the car, the man clearly reluctant.

As a company CEO, parting with the money was trivial, but the thought of splurging on his young girlfriend still stung.

"It's not that much more," the woman purred, snaking her arm around his, "I can make it up to you with something else~"

Lee Yu winced at the spectacle.

Just then, Huang Li came jogging over, a welcome distraction. All he needed to do was settle the bill and escape to cleanse his eyes!

"So, do we have a deal? I've just thought of a few more things..." the man said, his desires getting the better of him, "Little Li, let's go with this one."

The nearby staff member nodded, reaching for the card machine, but Huang Li arrived in the nick of time. Snatching the machine from her hand, he turned to the man, "CEO Liu, this way, please."

"Brother Li, this car's already been reserved!" Huang Li interjected, clearly confused.

The staff member glanced at Lee Yu and reassured, "Just give it a moment. It's not like this is the only car we have!"

Huang Li found herself at a loss for words. "Brother Lee, there's only one car left."

She was the new kid on the block, having joined the company well after Brother Lee, who had already put in over four years. Seniority-wise, he outranked her by a long shot. Grabbing the card reader first wasn't a big deal; she could simply get another. But with just one car remaining, if she missed out, she might not have the chance to drive another for the entire month.

The prospect of losing the commission was like watching a cooked duck fly away—Huang Li was not about to let that happen, especially when she was in dire need of the money.

The two of them locked horns in a heated argument.

Chief Liu, clearly annoyed, turned back with a covetous gaze that lingered on Huang Li. He mused to himself about the new beauty in the shop he hadn't seen before. After a moment, his attention shifted to Lee Yu at the side.

He was taken aback, expecting a seasoned professional to be competing for the car, not some greenhorn. He spoke up, "What's all this about? Is this how you treat a loyal customer? Can't you prioritize service?"

His words put Huang Li in a tough spot. If this was how it was going to be, she might have a hard time at the shop from now on.

Huang Li was well aware that Chief Liu was a major client, but she was also aware that giving in meant kissing her own money goodbye.

"Chief Liu, I apologize, but this customer has already made a booking. Here's the contract," Huang Li explained.

"What of it?" Chief Liu dismissed her concern. "It's not signed yet. Get it done quickly; I'm pressed for time."

The commotion caught the manager's attention, who hastened over to assess the situation.

Lee Yu watched as the manager joined the fray, sensing that a resolution was imminent and his presence on the sidelines was no longer necessary.

To his surprise, the manager immediately chastised Huang Li upon arrival, then turned to Chief Liu with a fawning apology.

"My sincerest apologies, Chief Liu. This newcomer is still learning the ropes. I'll make sure she gets a talking-to later. Now, let's take care of your needs!"

"Wait just a second. What's this, first-come, first-served? Do I look like a ghost to you?" Lee Yu demanded icily.

The manager glanced back and dismissed Lee Yu as just another youth. But upon noticing Lee Yu's modest attire, his disdain grew. "My apologies, sir," he said with a hint of condescension. "The car's already been reserved. Our new staff member wasn't aware and mistakenly showed it to you. Perhaps you'd be interested in one of our more affordable options?"

He lingered on the word 'affordable' with a sneer.

Mr. Liu, a regular, had purchased seven or eight cars from the shop. The manager would bend over backward for such a VIP. But Lee Yu, dressed so unremarkably, was just another customer to lose—no big deal to the manager.

"Do you take me for an idiot?" Lee Yu's brow furrowed.

He had witnessed the whole exchange. This was nothing short of blatant disrespect.
