C1 Surprise(1)

"No, no, I can't kill Ling Xi!"

Lin Feng bolted upright in bed, his forehead slick with cold sweat.

"Danger!" His instincts kicked in, and he reached for the side of the bed where he usually kept a hidden dagger.

As a seasoned assassin, Lin Feng's senses were razor-sharp when it came to detecting peril. He instantly knew something was off about the atmosphere in his room.

His hand met the edge of the bed, and his heart skipped a beat.

The secret compartment that housed his weapon was gone. Where could it be?

"This isn't my bed!" He quickly realized, his eyes darting around to take in the unfamiliar surroundings. This room bore no resemblance to the one he knew.

The room's decor was reminiscent of an ancient royal palace, with furniture crafted from red sandalwood, including the table and bed, and even the blanket was woven from an exquisite golden velvet. At the center of the room floated a luminous orb, resembling a stone, illuminating the space with its glow.

"Where am I? I was supposed to be on a mission in South Africa, how did I end up here?"

He should have been asleep at the organization's base in South Africa.

"Could this be the work of the Demon Saint Order?"

"The Demon Saint Order is still with me?"

Lin Feng felt along his waist and was taken aback by the familiar metallic touch.

Once an ordinary man, Lin Feng's life had changed dramatically after he stumbled upon an iron token known as the Demon Saint Order. It propelled him forward on the path of martial arts, elevating him to one of the mere three S-rank assassins in C Country.

"Huh?" Holding the Demon Saint Order, Lin Feng's face registered shock.

A searing heat radiated from the token, sending a stinging pain through his palm.

"What's happening?" He examined the token more closely. In the soft glow, the intricate designs on both sides came into focus: one bore the menacing visage of a demon, the other, the revered image of a deity.

Before he could scrutinize it further, a dull throb pounded in his head, and a flood of information surged through his mind.

"Do I have dual memories?" The pain sharpened, and the life story of a young man unfolded within Lin Feng's recollections.

"I've actually transmigrated? And into the body of a spoiled rich kid, no less? And his name is also Lin Feng!" Lin Feng painstakingly assimilated the overwhelming flood of memories.

These recollections revealed that the body's original Lin Feng was timid by nature, frequently harassed by others, and, as it turned out, had been fatally poisoned by a girl named Xia Qingyan.

It was after this poisoning that he found himself transmigrated.

"To fall for her and then be poisoned to death by her—what a cruel twist of fate."

Digging deeper into the memories, Lin Feng discovered that the body's former inhabitant had been dismissed as a once-in-a-century martial arts failure by the Lin family. Yet, in the mind of his predecessor, he was a once-in-a-century cultivation prodigy, whose talents were squandered by the Lin family. No one in the Lin family ever took his words seriously—not even his father, Lin Yuanshan.

"Martial arts failure? More like a martial arts prodigy, with a rare hundred-meridian constitution that comes once in a century!" Lin Feng's lips curled in a wry smile, concerned for the Lin family leadership's lack of insight.

"Your luck has been truly terrible," Lin Feng mused with a sigh. "Mocked by your own clan, poisoned by the woman you adore, neglected by your father, and with a mother who has passed away—yours is indeed a tragic tale."

"But from this moment forward, Lin Feng will shed the label of 'worthless.' I will rise as a supreme genius admired by all!"

"I, Lin Feng, have arrived in this world, and fate has its designs. From now on, I am you, and you are me—we are inseparable."

"Young Master, you're having nightmares again." Just then, a lovely and graceful girl entered, pushing the door open and approaching Lin Feng with measured steps.

A quick scan of his new memories informed Lin Feng that the maid's name was Ling'er, and she had been by Lin Feng's side for over a decade.

"Young Master, in your dreams, you were calling out for Ling Xi. Who is Ling Xi?" Ling'er asked, her eyes blinking with concern.

"Ling Xi is..." A stabbing pain shot through Lin Feng's head. The name Ling Xi was a wound in his heart that refused to heal, a chapter of his past he was reluctant to revisit.

Seeing the pain etched on Lin Feng's face, Ling'er shifted her tone, "Young Master, try not to dwell on it. There's something else I need to tell you, though I'm not sure if I should."

Lin Feng, sensing it wasn't going to be pleasant news, replied with a calm demeanor, "Go ahead, I can take it."

"The family's law enforcement team has been stationed outside the courtyard for quite a while now," Ling'er said, her face clouded with concern.

"That explains the uneasy feeling I had upon waking up. There's a host of powerful figures right outside," Lin Feng remarked, his expression turning icy. His memory reminded him that even the lowest-ranked warrior in the Lin family's law enforcement team was at the seventh layer of the Foundation Establishment Realm—a level of strength that could easily obliterate him in his current state.
