Leaving the hotel, I planned to come back to my parents with my luggage.

Before I got in a taxi, I called Madison, "Dear Madison, I'm on my way home. I'll be in town in about half an hour. And... don't tell my parents. I want to give them a surprise."

Madison sounded a little annoyed. "Oh, sorry, Eleanor. I may not be able to see you today."
