C13 Good Student Card

"Jean." After a short moment of silence, Noah slowly spoke up and addressed her as such, "Actually, I didn't do enough for you." He looked straight at her and said, "I should have talked to you earlier."

The short sentence was only about twenty words, but it made Jeannette's expression change slightly. She looked at Noah and found that his dark eyes were also looking straight at her without dodging.

Jeannette's hands trembled slightly. She could tell that Noah had already cast away the tricks and methods that mature men used to use. He was now treating her with a very real side of him. However, it was this kind of realness that made her feel uneasy. When a man treated a woman he didn't like, the more naked his attitude was, the more it showed how much he wanted to get rid of her. This was exactly what she didn't want.

Sure enough, what Noah said confirmed her guess.

"One thing I need to clarify is that I don't accept your feelings. It's not that I hate you. On the contrary, I admire you very much," Noah said. "You are a very good student. You have a good personal life habits, excellent scientific and academic skills, and you can complete your tasks quickly and efficiently. You can also point to the core of the problem. In this aspect, I think that no one in the entire school can do better than you."

Jeannette was speechless. She had never been praised like this in the past two months. If she had heard these words at that time, she would probably have gone crazy from happiness. But now, she knew that he was laying the groundwork for what he would say later, so she could only feel sadness.

"So?" The girl looked at him with a slightly pale face, and a forced smile appeared on her lips. "Are you afraid that I will reject you because of your rejection and sink into my own sadness and self-abandonment?"

At this point, Noah was no longer surprised by this girl's intelligence. Some things were better left unsaid. That was why he had left the University of Haham in a hurry and returned to the Brufia City. But now, it was no longer a question of whether he wanted to do it or not. Noah knew that he was not a saint in morality, but at least he was not a saint who cared about his reputation. If he could pull this girl out of the mud, he would not hesitate.

"Maybe I was overthinking it." Noah stared at her. "If you don't have such a problem, then it's best." After saying that, Noah closed his mouth and waited for the girl to act up and mock him for being arrogant. However, Jeannette did not. She just looked at him without moving, and a sad smile appeared on her lips.

"Teacher Noah, I didn't expect that the person who gave me a good person card would be you..."

This response was a little unexpected. Noah immediately frowned and was about to say something when he was interrupted by Jeannette.

"Teacher Noah, I understand what you mean. I will study hard and graduate, but whether I like you or not is my own business. I think you don't have the right to interfere..."

Noah did not say anything and just looked at her.

"Also, if there were any restrictions before, I don't have any more concerns now."

Noah instantly understood what she meant. Before this, they still had an insurmountable teacher-student relationship, but now, there was no such restraint.

At this point, Noah had to admit that he could not gain the upper hand in front of this student. Fortunately, he did not need it. "That's all I have to say."

This was Noah's last sentence. Jeannette lowered her eyebrows and did not respond in the end.

A headless conversation ended in silence. After hurriedly settling the bill, Noah left with Jeannette.

There was naturally nothing to talk about on the way, except for the sound of the electric current echoing in the car. The street lights outside the window shone in through the car window, and the two faces that were enveloped by the lights were one calm and one stunned.

Initially, Jeannette wanted to go back by herself, but she knew that Noah would not agree because he had left her behind. Naturally, he had to take care of her safety. Because he had a clear conscience, even after that unpleasant conversation, he could still face her calmly. However, it was not the same for Noah. She had lost the initiative from the beginning.

Ten minutes later, the taxi stopped steadily at the south gate of the University of Haham. After two or three seconds, Jeannette tilted her head and said to Noah, "Noah, I'll get off first."

"Alright, take care of your own safety on the road."

Noah, who had just spoken, regained his composure as if nothing had happened. Jeannette, who was on the other side of the door, clenched her fingers and pressed down.

The door opened and Jeannette slowly got out of the car. When the wind blew, she closed her eyes gently. When she opened her eyes again, she turned around and said to the man in the car, "Noah, don't worry. I won't disturb you."

Noah's hands, which were crossed on his lap, paused for a moment. He raised his eyes and looked at Jeannette. At that moment, the girl had already turned around and left without any reluctance. The black figure quickly disappeared into the dark night. Only her hair was left, swaying gently with the wind.

Noah stared at her for a long time. When the figure disappeared at the door, he slowly retracted his gaze. After a short period of silence, he pinched his forehead and leaned back in his chair. He said to the driver, "May I trouble you, Master? It's a big hotel in Torough."

In the female graduate dormitory building of the University of Haham, most of the people had already finished washing up and were ready to sleep. Jeannette walked past the dormitory doors with a heavy bag on her back. Occasionally, she would meet a few students from the same college and greet them indifferently. When she finally returned to the dormitory, she closed the door, pulled out a chair, and slowly sat down on the table.

The other two people in the dormitory had already gone to sleep. Jeannette, who was sitting quietly under the dim light of the small table lamp, was staring blankly at the ceiling. After a long time, she let out a long sigh of relief. She slowly closed her eyes and placed her arms on the table. At the same time, a tear quickly slid down her cheeks. She adjusted her position and covered her face completely.
