C16 Birthday Banquet

Although she did not arrange anything, Jeannette still went to the academic research room. Recently, she had been writing a summary and was ready to publish it after she had finished writing it. She wanted to prepare herself for her graduation.

There were many people in the academic research room as usual. When Jeannette put her things away, she saw Ward walking out with a bag on his back. When she saw him, Jeannette's eyes lit up. Today, Ward was dressed differently from usual. He was wearing a set of clothes that was between formal and casual. His hair was slightly tidied up, and he had taken off his glasses. He probably changed into a pair of invisible glasses.

"Do you want to go out?" Jeannette asked.

Ward embarrassedly pulled down the hem of his clothes and said, "A few friends I know are having an offline activity in Torough today. They know that I'm here, so they asked me to go with them."

It was only recently that Jeannette found out that Ward was actually a big vlogger in the field of data mining. Judging from his private behavior, it was hard to tell that he was actually so famous on the Internet. It was as if he was hiding in the city.

"It's good. I wish you a happy time."

Jeannette smiled and said. Ward scratched his head with a red face and trotted away.

Jeannette stood by the window at the end of the corridor for a while before she went to the computer in the academic research room. The computer was already turned on, and the school mail app on the bottom right corner of the computer reminded her that there were two new emails. Jeannette opened them and saw that one was sent by Phyllis ten minutes ago, and the other was an invitation letter.

Jeannette opened Phyllis's letter first. She asked her to help edit a research proposal. In her memory, they had already written this research proposal. Phyllis asked her to edit it on the spot because she had received a suggestion from someone else. Frankly speaking, Jeannette was annoyed by this kind of editing. It was not that she didn't want to work, but that Phyllis didn't have any ideas. In her opinion, such a small change was meaningless. She didn't believe that Phyllis couldn't see through it. However, Phyllis treated other people's words as if they were the truth. It was as if the final success or failure was just a small matter. This often made Jeannette and Ward feel helpless.

Jeannette glanced at the time and made a mark on the mission. Then she opened another email. It was from Myra's boyfriend, Alton. The content of the email was actually an invitation to her to attend Erwin's birthday party! Jeannette was stunned. She scanned through the email again and confirmed that she had not read it wrongly. Erwin had really invited her to his birthday party!

Jeannette was surprised for a while before she calmed down and started thinking about this problem.

One must know that Jeannette did not dare to call herself Erwin's student. Although she did not give her blessings on every day of the festival, it was out of respect for her teacher. It was something she should do, and she had never expected to receive a response. However, she did not expect the old professor to respond in time every time and even call her Jeannette in a friendly manner.

This was obviously a form of intimacy with the younger generation. It made Jeannette feel that the old professor had a good impression of her. However, was it really appropriate for her to go to such a private place?

Because of this matter, Jeannette was a little absent-minded when she wrote the proposal. The task that could have been completed in an hour was delayed until noon. She hurriedly set it to be sent later and turned off the computer to prepare for lunch. However, just as she got up, she saw someone running in from outside. It was Alton.

Alton looked around the study room. He was obviously looking for someone. When he saw her, his eyes lit up and he walked over in a few steps.

"Jean, why didn't you reply to the email? Did you not receive it?"

Alton was sweating. He had obviously run over. Seeing this, Jeannette felt inexplicably guilty.

"Senior Brother, I have received the email. It's just that..."

"It's good that you have received it. The teacher saw that you didn't reply and thought that you didn't notify him. Oh right, you haven't entered our sect's group yet, right? I'll pull you in..."

Alton didn't give her a chance to speak. He immediately pulled out a code and asked her to scan it. Jeannette could only enter the group. After entering, she said, "Senior Brother, I think I shouldn't go..."

Jeannette was still a little worried. She was afraid that she wouldn't be able to blend in and that everyone would be unhappy because of her.

"How can I not come? This year, our sect has only accepted one of you. Come, come, come!" Alton said with a smile, "Also, your previous boss is here too, Noah!"

Jeannette was speechless.

Noah is here too?

In the end, Jeannette decided to attend Erwin's birthday banquet.

Firstly, it was because of Alton's invitation, and secondly, it was because of Noah. She understood all the reasons, but she did not want to miss the opportunity to meet him. She knew that there was nothing she could do to save him, and she did not plan to save him either.

After making up her mind, Jeannette began to prepare the gift for the old professor. However, before she could even think about it, Alton stopped her. The old professor in the group also said that those who brought gifts would be chased out, except for papers. This was really like the old professor's style.

Jeannette added two more people to her group. One was the new Erwin, and the other was Phyllis. They were two completely different styles. In Phyllis's group, there were no other idle chatter besides assignments and discussions. Phyllis had not recruited any students for a year, so she only had four students under her. Two of them were in the first stage and two were in the second stage. Logically speaking, the fewer people, the better the relationship. Jeannette and Ward were good friends, but their relationship with the other two senior sisters in the second stage could be said to be very clear. This resulted in them not having a small group other than their boss.

Erwin did not have a small group, but the reason was completely opposite of theirs. Their relationship was too harmonious, and there was no need for it. The one who spoke the most in the group was actually the old professor himself. He had a cute panda head and woke up on time to cook a bowl of chicken soup. The rest was just idle chatter. In Erwin's words, Prof. Gibbs was sick and could not go on stage to lecture. He was very lonely and made everyone understand. Jeannette also spent some time to get used to the old professor's talkative style. After all, no matter how she looked at it, he did not seem to be in a good mood!
