C7 Separation

When Noah saw Jeannette, his eyes stopped for a moment. He took a deep breath and extinguished the remaining cigarette in the ashtray.

He was not surprised to see Jeannette here. He had already mentally prepared himself when he saw her in the morning. Since he had returned to the city, this name was an existence that he could not ignore.

At first, when he received Dean Ying's call, he thought that the meeting was being held in "Lin City". Later on, when he received the invitation letter and schedule that he had forwarded to him, he realized that it was in Lin City. It was already too late for him to regret it, so he had no choice but to make this trip.

When he first saw Jeannette in the morning, the first thought that came to his mind was that the girl had lost weight. At that time, he felt that it was inexplicable. Since when did he pay attention to her weight? Perhaps it was because she was too thin in the past, and now that she had shrunk a little, it was obvious. Noah had to admit that finding this reason made him feel much better.

"Why didn't you go to rest at noon?" Noah asked as he quickly sorted out his thoughts.

Noah was stunned for a moment when he saw her. When he slowly spoke to her, he said, "I ate too much in the afternoon, so I came here to take a walk and bask in the sun."

Noah could tell that the girl was telling the truth, so he did not say anything. He squinted his eyes and turned his head away.

This made Jeannette feel a little conflicted. He was inside, and she had to decide whether she should go in or not.

After thinking for a while, she lifted her other foot and stepped into the balcony. In any case, her original intention was not to rush him.

Noah did not express any opinion about Jeannette's rash participation. It was obvious that he did not care. The two of them stood there, looking at the scenery downstairs. Neither of them spoke. Just when Jeannette thought that he would leave in silence, he suddenly opened his mouth.

"How is Ms. Wilkins treating you?" Noah put his hand in his pocket and rested his elbow on his suit jacket. He tilted his head and glanced at her.

Jeannette felt conflicted. She felt sad for Noah's decision to leave. Besides feeling sad, she also felt resentful. When she heard him ask this question, she wanted to answer angrily, "Not good, very bad." However, Jeannette had already passed the age of being reckless. She knew that Noah might not feel good if she said that. It was one thing for him to not accept her love, but he also didn't want to see her in a bad state. According to her understanding of him, she knew that he was a man of character, so she couldn't say anything that would make him uncomfortable.

In the end, he was still reluctant.

"It's good. Ms. Wilkins is very good." When the wind blew, Jeannette said as she wrapped her coat.

Noah nodded, but he knew in his heart.

In the University of Haham, there were two extremes of evaluations of Phyllis. In the eyes of some old teachers, Phyllis was knowledgeable, hardworking, and a role model for the younger generation. However, in the eyes of some young teachers, Phyllis was a bit utilitarian. Although they joked that the postgraduate students were just there to help their mentors, they could not just leave everything to the students. Phyllis only had the title of a mentor, but she was actually taking advantage of the research results. Not everything could be covered up with the title of "raising students." It was okay to do it occasionally, but it was not right to do it often. It was not good for both the students and the mentors.

This situation was not unique to Phyllis in the University of Haham. It could be said that it was a common situation. It was also because the University of Haham had good enrollment and the students were selected by the layers. Otherwise, many teachers would have learned their lesson sooner or later. Fortunately, many young teachers had already sorted out their thoughts and were working hard to do scientific research. They treated their students as talents. However, there were still some stubborn people who treated their students as their personal belongings.

Noah had been in University of Haham for two years, and he had a good understanding of the situation in the university. He also knew the general character of the teachers who were qualified to take students. If he could help Jeannette, he did not think that Phyllis was the best choice. However, considering the way Phyllis handled the students, he accepted the arrangement of the college. He had always thought that Jeannette did not need a mentor. However, ever since the incident that night, he felt that he might not completely understand her. Phyllis was a person who cared about her face. Just by looking at how much she worried about the graduation thesis of her students every year, he could tell that she was afraid that the graduation would affect her enrollment for the next year. If... if Jeannette ever fell into a coma again, with Phyllis's personality, she should be able to control her. At least, she should be able to graduate.

"If that's the case, then you should follow her and finish the three years. You won't let Professor Erwin down." After recalling his thoughts, Noah said casually.

Jeannette was speechless.

"Is it just for Professor Erwin?" Seeing that he didn't want to separate her from him, Jeannette couldn't help but ask.

Noah did not respond.

He could tell what she meant. He was originally hesitant to explain his worries and hard work, even if it would make him look pretentious. But now, it seemed that there was no need. No matter what he said, she would not listen.

"Whatever you think."

After saying that, Noah left.

Jeannette looked at the ashtray beside him and felt stifled.

She had never known that he could be so heartless to someone he didn't like. Even if he didn't want to lie or be perfunctory?
