C7 Alliance of Brothers

When Jain Yun saw Wu Wenjing's messages, she leaned back on her seat. A part of her felt that it was necessary to look for Huo Liancheng, while a part of her just wanted to rush to the hillside. Yet, no matter how ambiguous she may look, she still had to take her glasses back and clear things out.

However, as the beautifully engraved elevator doors closed in, her heart raced in her chest. Perhaps this wasn't the brightest idea off the map. As her hands quivered in her sides, she staggered backward.

The 28th floor was exclusive to the CEO, and only a number of people were qualified to see him. There was originally a team of secretaries a floor below his office, but Liancheng had that department removed before he arrived. No one knew why.

Originally, Jian Yun had wanted to take her glasses from him and explain to him what had happened that night. "I didn't mean to call you an ass," she would have explained. "I was frustrated and embarrassed, so I was hoping you could forget all about it." Maybe then, he'd lay off of her, and she could finally wallow in peace.

She thought it was a brilliant plan in the making, but not it seemed as if she hadn't thought this through. As a rank-and-file employee under a minuscule department, what right did she have to just come barging in the CEO's office? Even if she was lucky enough to meet with him, how the hell was she going to bring this up without humiliating herself once more?

After all, Huo Liancheng seemed like the type to hold grudges. If he had really wanted to set her off, wasn't she already falling into his trap?

Ugh! Forget the glasses! The office was already giving her the creeps, and she hasn't even stepped foot on it yet!

Jian Yun immediately pressed a different button on the elevator, yet when she looked back, she noticed that the numbers were constantly rising. Soon enough, she was already on the twenty-fifth floor! Her jaw dropped. How could she not have thought of this? Obviously, the exclusive elevator would only lead her directly to the CEO's office! God, why the hell was she so stupid?

Could she still hide? Perhaps, if she'd press the button back down again, no one would notice.

Just then, she heard a 'ding' and the elevator door immediately swung open. She dug her nails into her palm, bracing herself for the humiliation that awaited her, only to see that the floor was empty. In fact, there weren't even any supervisors present to note her arrival. The resentment in her chest slowly lifted, and Jian Yun suppressed a sigh of relief.

"Miss Jian?"

It seemed that she had spoken too soon. Lifting her head, she saw Cheng Muze carrying a stack of documents. His gold-rimmed glasses sat on the bridge of his nose as he stood in front of her, surprised by her arrival.

"Mr. Cheng?" Jian Yun blinked. Why was he here? Suddenly, she flashed back to the night he had saved her from that crazy woman and addressed Liancheng as his boss. It shouldn't be a surprise for her that he'd be here.

"Why are you here?" Cheng Muze glanced at her pale face and over to her clenched fists, before furrowing his eyebrows.

"I–I was about to get my glasses..." Seeing as no one else was there, she relaxed. At least it was Muze who had caught her in the act, and not anyone else from the company.

"Your glasses?" As a qualified assistant to the CEO, he wouldn't be doing a great job if he had just taken her to Huo Liancheng's office right on the dot. So he stated, "Mr. Huo isn't here right now. How about I ask about the glasses for you when he returns?"

"That's fine, I'll go down first!" she readily agreed. If there was one thing she was positive about, Jian Yun didn't want to see Huo Liancheng ever again. Now that the entire company was at his fingertips, all he needed to do was say a few words to get her to pack up and leave. If she had said the wrong words...

She didn't want to lose her job yet!

"Wait!" Just as she huddled back into the elevator, Cheng Muze stopped her. "Are you free tonight? How about we grab some dinner?"

A trace of doubt flashed in her eyes. After everything that had happened, he was being all too nice to her. Jian Yun pursed her lips. They hadn't known each other that much, and he was already inviting her out to dinner...Could the incident from last night be a ploy to get close to her?

Of course, it wasn't! Even she had to scoff at her own thoughts. Although she didn't know much about Huo Liancheng, she knew enough of his reputation to see that the man was already on top of the world. He wouldn't even glance her way even if she had wanted him to.

"I don't mean any harm." Cheng Muze was good at picking up on social cues, so he naturally saw through her thoughts. He smiled. "When I saw you last night, you actually reminded me of my sister. I just wanted to give you a helping hand."

"Ah..." The tension on her shoulders dissipated as Jian Yun brought herself to look up at him. "If that's the case, then it's better if I treat you to a meal instead–as payback for sending me to the hospital last night."

His smile widened. "Then we'll meet at the company's entrance after work."

"You got it!" Not wanting to waste any more time and have Liancheng catch her, she pressed the button and watched as the doors close in front of her. Although Cheng Muze was a good man, she couldn't say the same when it comes to President Huo himself.

He shook his head in amusement at the sight of her frazzled appearance.

Suddenly, the door to the CEO's office was pushed open, and Huo Liancheng leaned against the doorframe. He had on a black shirt and a pair of pants, looking far too casual than what the dress code had required. "Do you have a lot of time in your hands?"

"No!" The smile on his face faded as he headed over to his desk. Cheng Muze flipped through the documents from time to time, acting as if he was buried under tons of paperwork.

Snorting coldly, Huo Liancheng turned back into his office.

"Hey! Fourth Brother! I heard that you took a girl's glasses," he cooed jokingly. "Are you finally interested in talking to women?"

The only thing that had greeted him was the sound of the door slamming shut. However, that didn't faze Cheng Muze. In fact, it may have even encouraged him to take out his phone and send a message into their chat group called 'Alliance of Brothers'. "Hey, is anyone online?"

He waited for five whole minutes. When no one had replied, he sent another message: "Fourth Bro's falling in love! On his first day at Ming's, he already robbed a woman of her most precious thing!"

After sending the message, Cheng Muze shut off his phone. He set it on the side and continued working on the other documents.

Suddenly, the seemingly dead chat group had exploded with batches of new messages. Dozens of them appeared in a blink of an eye as everyone reeled in from the news. Soon enough, everyone in the group was alerted and hooked.

"Precious thing? Her virginity? Did Fourth Bro rape the woman the moment he had seen her?"

"No, I can't believe it. Fourth Bro wouldn't be so rash."

"What? Seriously? And here I thought the man was gay!"

"Damn! Now, I'm dying to meet the woman who had seduced him. She must've been a beauty!"

"No way! He's mine. I don't believe you for a second!"

"…"

"Hey! Five! Yo, Cheng Muze! Where the hell did you go?"
