C8 Invitation

The man who was on his phone and wearing a long leather jacket didn't even realize he had hit someone, Andrew walked over to her and asked “Why did you stop” Valerie wasn't paying attention to Andrew just the man standing in front of her, she spoke to him again “Excuse me sir”.

He finally turned and revealed himself and felt like an eternity later, She finally saw his face, it wasn't Mr. Stranger she couldn't help but feel so disappointed but she didn't want anyone to see her reaction so he just told the man who she had previously stopped “sorry I might've mistaken you for someone else” The man nodded and left, Andrew, on the other hand, was confused but he didn't want to read any meaning to it maybe the man just looked familiar, Valerie turned and smiled at Andrew who had been by her side not saying a word, He saw she was now ready to proceed with their date so he said “Shall we?” she smiled and walked ahead of Andrew, They paid for the movie and grabbed a box of popcorn and a bottle of soda each.

They got into the theater and made themselves comfortable, Valerie had no idea about the type of movie they were going to watch and that's mainly because she hadn't been able to concentrate and no matter how hard she tried her mind would always linger on that morning and the words the Stranger had told her. It was a rom-com and it seemed like a pretty interesting movie, When she turned she could see how focused Andrew was on the movie so she decided to take a quick look on her phone.

Andrew was so eager to pick her up for the date that he decided to ask her to be his girlfriend today, He wanted to be with her every single day, He genuinely wanted to see whatever they had could lead to, The night was a bit awkward, She didn't talk much throughout the drive and she stopped a stranger and when he spoke to her she blatantly ignored his words, Maybe she didn't hear him he thought to himself but at least she smiled at him so that means he didn't do anything wrong. He picked a rom-com movie because he knew girls preferred romance movies to others so he wanted to make it known that he valued her interests but when he turned he saw her on her phone, He was uneasy and different thoughts kept running through his mind, ‘Am I doing too much? Or Am I being too forward and rushing things with her? Does she feel pressured in any way? but it had just been two dates’, he signed inwardly and thought ‘Maybe she doesn't just like my company, I might've misinterpreted the whole thing’.

“Don't you like the movie?” Valerie looked away from her phone and turned to Andrew, She felt really silly, How could she have been on her phone and now he felt I was not enjoying the evening and she knew she had to fix it “Oh I love it, I was just checking…..” she didn't want to tell him she was waiting for the Stranger to text her so she just said “I'm enjoying this movie and your company, thank you for this” They both smiled at each other and they continued watching the movie.

When the movie came to an end, the drive back was less awkward because she initiated a conversation that kept them talking about how college was “Do you know I had a really hard time fitting in?” Valerie asked Andrew, “Wait really? I doubt that 'cause you're so loving and beautiful” Andrew said this and looked at Valerie passionately, “Keep your eyes on the road” Valerie smiled while speaking softly, “You think I'm beautiful?” Valerie asked, “I've always thought so” They both smiled at each other and it was a peaceful moment.

When they got to the front of her house he wanted eagerly to kiss her and ask her to be his girlfriend but it didn't feel right just yet so they hugged each other and he watched her get into her house before he got into his car and drove off.

She got into the house with a huge smile plastered on her lips and she was faced by her family members all sitting by the sitting room it seemed perhaps they were having a conversation and when she walked in they all hushed up, she saw everyone's eyes fixed on her except her Father's eyes, She wasn't comfortable with this gathering and she was also curious to know what exactly is going on “Mom what's going on?” she asked her mom but her eyes were pacing all around the room meeting every single one of their eyes but her father’s head was slightly bowed, Mrs. John stood up and looked at her before saying “You should have a seat, this can be a bit overwhelming for you”

Valerie was already getting frightened by the situation and the suspense, She sat beside Carmen and her dad passed the letter around till it got to Valerie, She opened it up and read the content of the letter ‘Hello my name is Carson Blue, But I rather go by Carson, I would've come by myself to deliver this message but where's the fun in that? This is to let you know I've fallen in love with Valerie, I am inviting you to my mansion in three days to talk about marriage arrangements, I know this message came as a shock so I’ll give you a few days to digest this news and in three days my driver will pick you all up be ready by sunset.” Valerie didn’t need anyone to tell her who this was, This was that strange man from the other day, who exactly was he? Gwen stood up and started reading what she found on the internet about him “Mr. Carson Blue a renowned businessman and a billionaire, He’s the “ Gwen was cut short by Mr. John this time finally raising his head to face her “We’ve heard enough Gwen” he turned and looked at Valerie “Val what exactly is this? Why is this man talking about?”

Valerie couldn’t believe what she had just read, It might be a prank, right? Her mom could see she wasn’t paying attention to the question so she intervened “Valerie we need answers” This time Valerie looked up and met their eyes and she said “I can explain”
