C7 Tragedy 4

“Hello, Mr. Morgan. How may I help you?”

“There is an emergency. Send an ambulance to me. I am at the Cherry Fields Female Dormitory.”

Then, the doctor, who was not expecting much from him in the term of exchange of pleasantries, responded.

“Consider it done, Mr. Morgan.”

Soon, an ambulance arrived and the female security who was already in the truck lifted Phina with the assistance of the janitor and got her into the ambulance. Then, the driver drove off at once to the Medical Center, where the Medical Director was ready to receive them. Moreover, they commenced treatment on her. After thirty minutes, she was out of danger. The Medical Team discovered that she merely fainted out of shock, and the heap of the mattresses cushioned the effect of the fall. Meanwhile, the Chief of the Security ensured that the other students had left the school premises and drove back to the Administrative Block to inform the Vice Chancellor of the latest.

“So, how is she now?”

“I would not know. I will find out from the Medical Director.”

“It is OK. Get her details from the Registry and send for her parents at once. She must leave the school.”

“It is noted, Prof. Thompson.”

Before the close of work for the day, Phina Skye was driven to the airport on the instruction of her parents, who would wait for her at the airport of her country.

At the Cherry Fields Industrial Area

After the meeting attendees gathered, they took their seats at the Mini Conference Table in the Chairman’s Office and Jeff took the Chairman’s position. Meanwhile, the troubled Mr. Morris and the International Vice Chairman, Mr. Ken Israel, were monitoring the meeting proceedings from their devices. Then, Jeff began.

“I welcome you to this emergency meeting, without taking your time, Mr. Priestley, can you explain what happened at the island today?”

Now, the General Manager who was distraught with the situation glared at the Head of the Works Department, who was hesitant and said.

“We are waiting, Mr. Priestley.”

Meanwhile, the International Vice Chairman was disappointed in Mr. Priestley. He remembered that when he engaged the Works Department to handle the project that the Chairman was not supporting it, but he consented after he assured him of the benefits. Now, he had proved that he was incompetent. Then, he spoke.

“Thank you, Mr. Israel. I doubt that what happened at the island today is unusual. Accident occurs at building sites….”

“When the materials used are inferior and so much trust is imposed on the contractor.”

The General Manager cut in. At this point, the unrepentant Mr. Priestley, who was dumbstruck, stared dagger at the General Manager.

At the Morris Ancestral Manor

Now, Jessica Murray had joined her husband, who was monitoring the meeting from his device in his study, and inquired.

“What is keeping you so busy, hubby?”

Before he could respond, she peeped into his system and saw the meeting going on and Jeff was looking small before the other participants. Just then, her motherly instinct set in.

“Hubby, don’t tell that you are leaving these intimidating men for Jeff to handle.”

Mr. Morris, who was conversant with Jeff’s competency, smiled and assured her.

“He can handle them. This is nothing compared to what he had done in the past.”

Nevertheless, Jessica was not comfortable with his explanation, so she advised.

“Hubby, kindly join them, if you are not too busy. I am not comfortable with what I am seeing.”

Mr. Morris gave her an affectionate look and promised.

“I will do that right away.”

“Thank you. I love you, hubby.”

“I love you, too.”

Now, Mr. Morris got dressed up at once and looked at his wife, who was watching him. Then, he announced.

“I will be on my way. Does that make you happy?”

She smiled and set out to give him a hug, which he turned to a compassionate kiss.

“Thank you, hubby. Yes, I am happy.”

She walked him to the helicopter hanger and watched him take off with his securities – some in the helicopter with him, while others drove to the Industrial Area by road.

At the Island

Dr. Williams and his team of doctors arrived at the island twenty minutes after the Purple Tag Chairman instructed him to do so. When he got off the helicopter, he was dumbfounded when he discovered the extent of the damage at the site.

“This is ludicrous.”

He exclaimed. Meanwhile, Dr. Wong Brooklyn, the ex-terrorist who repented after he failed to kidnap Jeff the day he defeated him in the bidding of the island, was on his toes. He had applied as a Medical Doctor for the island before the takeoff, and he was employed.

When he saw the Medical Director got off the helicopter, he walked up to him

“Good day to you, Dr. Williams.”

His greeting brought the awe stricken doctor out of his reverie.

“Good to see you, Dr. Brooklyn. How did this happen and where are the victims?”

“I think the Engineers will be in a position to explain how it happened. As for the victims, they are in the clinic. I have administered first aid, but some are still unconscious.”

“That is good. How many are they?”

“They are forty-three.”

“It is OK. The ambulances will be here soon.”

“That is good.”

Dr. Brooklyn led the Medical Director to see the victims while they await the arrival of the ambulances.

At the Industrial Area.

From the explanation of Mr. Priestly, the house was able to deduce that he took advantage of the trust that the International Vice Chairman had on him. Now, the distraught Purple Tag Chairman gave his verdict while the International Vice Chairman, who was already disgusted with Mr. Priestley’s lack of remorse, watched on silently.

“Mr. Priestley, the management and the staff of the Cherry Fields Oil and Gas Group wish to appreciate you for the number of years you have put in her services.”

At this point, the General Manager and the Head of Media and Publicity, the secretary who had been taking the minutes were already aware of the verdict, and they cast their gazes at the Purple Tag Chairman who continued.
