C113 Father Today I will Invite You to Watch a Good Show!
On this old city street, the shops are all long-standing establishments with rich histories. They specialize in traditional craftsmanship, offering unique products that are cherished by those who appreciate the old ways. While many people today are embracing new trends, discarding old ideas and items, and adopting foreign styles in clothing and lifestyle, there are still those who hold a deep appreciation for things with a sense of history and authenticity.
Take, for instance, the art of tea. Many young people now prefer the bitter taste of coffee, often drinking it black to align with modern trends. Consequently, the traditional tea culture has been overlooked by many. However, Ye Yuvyuv, despite not being a tea enthusiast herself, never dismissed it. She believed in the cultural depth and spirit of tea, valuing its rich and delicate aroma, which she felt surpassed any foreign coffee. Interestingly, she wasn't fond of coffee either, often opting for juice when visiting coffee shops, making her quite the exception.
The Xinglong Tea House spans two floors. Its sign is old but meticulously maintained, free of dust and carefully weatherproofed. Legend has it that the sign was inscribed by a wise ruler from a bygone era, who, while traveling incognito, stopped at this tea house. After tasting the tea, he praised its lingering sweetness and aroma, commending the tea master's skill, and was inspired to write the sign himself. It was only later revealed that he was a person of great importance.
Ye Yuvyuv and Ye Mingyuan stepped out of their car and entered the tea house. Ye Mingyuan was a regular here, embodying traditional values. He often visited to enjoy the excellent tea, relax, and listen to music, finding a unique charm in the experience.
Inside the building, the music flowed gracefully, its rhythm rising and falling like a gentle stream, creating a refined and pleasant atmosphere.
Yuvyuv had visited this place a few times with her father and was quite fond of the melodies performed here. She enjoyed the intricate and lingering tunes, finding them quite interesting.
As soon as Yuvyuv and her father stepped into the teahouse, a sharp-eyed attendant quickly approached them. Recognizing Ye Mingyuan, the attendant greeted him warmly, "Mr. Ye, welcome! Please, come in. There's a private room available upstairs. Let me show you the way."
The attendant was perceptive, maintaining a friendly yet respectful demeanor without being overly ingratiating. Ye Mingyuan nodded but didn't immediately follow. Instead, he called the attendant back and glanced at his daughter.
Yuvyuv understood immediately and stepped forward, casually asking, "Could you tell me if a young couple has visited your teahouse recently?"
Since it was uncommon for young people to visit, Yuvyuv's question quickly led to the confirmation that her sister, Nianci, and Wen Shixing were indeed there, enjoying tea in a private room on the second floor.
Coincidentally, the empty room the attendant mentioned was right next to the one where her sister was. Father and daughter exchanged a knowing look and followed the attendant upstairs without further discussion.
The attendant asked Ye Mingyuan if he wanted the usual tea, to which Ye Mingyuan nodded. The attendant responded, "Got it, just a moment, please."
As the attendant was about to leave, a clear, cheerful voice called out, "Excuse me, could you help me with something?"
The young attendant turned back, meeting a pair of beautiful, amber-like eyes. He was momentarily captivated but quickly regained his composure, smiling shyly, "Miss, how can I assist you?"
"I have a friend coming over in a bit. Could you please guide her to the room next door?" Yuvyuv smiled gently, pointing to the room where her older sister, Nianci, was. She then described her friend's appearance in detail.
"The room next door? Shouldn't she be brought here?" The attendant seemed puzzled and glanced towards Mingyuan for confirmation.
Mingyuan nodded solemnly, signaling the attendant to follow his daughter's instructions. As the Finance Secretary of the city, he carried an air of authority that was hard to ignore.
The young attendant dared not disobey, even though he was curious. He knew it wasn't his place to question.
Once the attendant left, Mingyuan turned to his daughter. "Yuvyuv, what exactly have you planned?" His expression grew serious. "Your sister is still in the room next door. You better not be up to any mischief."
"Dad, do I look like I'm causing trouble? I've just set up a little scene to show my sister what Wen Shixing is really like."
Yuvyuv raised an eyebrow with a faint smile, though it didn't reach her eyes, which glinted with a hint of coldness.
Mingyuan felt a chill run through him as he met his daughter's gaze. He quickly asked, "Have you already found out that Wen isn't a good person?"
From her tone, Mingyuan suspected his daughter knew something.
"Yes, Dad, just wait and enjoy the show."
Yuvyuv's smile was innocent, her face glowing softly, though the light seemed to turn into sharp fragments that almost hurt to look at.
Mingyuan felt a pang of worry, silently hoping his precious daughter wouldn't cause trouble again. He wasn't afraid of her causing a scene, but he was concerned she might go too far and hurt her older sister.
Still uneasy, he reminded her, "Erya, don't go overboard. Your sister is in there."
"Dad, I know. No matter what, I would never hurt my big sister. You can trust me on that," Yuvyuv reassured her father.
Though Ye Mingyuan felt slightly relieved, he still sat there as if on pins and needles, an uneasy feeling gnawing at him. He was just a moment away from impulsively running next door to whisk his eldest daughter, Nianci, away. He couldn't handle the stress of his beloved daughter Erya's antics.
As Ye Mingyuan fidgeted restlessly, Yuvyuv's keen ears picked up the sound of hurried footsteps ascending the stairs. It was the distinct clatter of high heels striking the wooden floor, creating a somewhat chaotic "thud, thud" sound.
Yuvyuv's eyes flickered with recognition, and she quietly alerted her anxious father, "Dad, they're here. The show's about to start!"
"The show?" Ye Mingyuan's eyebrows twitched as he anxiously searched Yuvyuv's gaze, straining to listen towards the door. His voice was slightly urgent, "Erya, you better explain what you've planned. Your big sister's always been timid. Don't scare her."
Unable to sit still any longer, Ye Mingyuan stood up, ready to head out and see for himself. But just then, suddenly—
"Bang!" The door was kicked open.
Outside, a woman's sharp, venomous voice rang out, "Wen Shixing, you worthless scumbag! You really made it hard for me to find you!"
Ye Mingyuan shot to his feet, his eyes wide as saucers, staring in shock at his daughter. "Erya, what on earth is going on?"
Yuvyuv, however, remained calm and collected, a sly smile playing on her lips as she looked at her father. She slowly stood up, walked over to him, and with a small hand, pulled open the door to the private room. "Dad, I've arranged quite the show for you today. Please, enjoy!"
Yuvyuv mimicked the gesture of a theater usher, her smile slightly eerie, as she made a welcoming gesture to her father.
Ye Mingyuan felt a chill run down his spine as his daughter smiled at him. He thought to himself, "Erya, please don't scare your dad like that!"
