C118 It Was Actually Such a Scum!
Yuvyuv felt a sudden jolt in her heart, realizing her earlier words had startled her sister. As her sister mentioned, their family's position in the city wasn't the highest, but it was certainly not one to be trifled with. With the Great Marshal Huo backing them, no one dared to challenge the Ye family.
However, some disasters are beyond control and irreversible. In the past, there was a catastrophic gold theft that nearly destroyed the Ye family and the entire city. The city's economy was left in turmoil. If not for the Huo family's support, the city might have fallen under foreign control, and its people would have suffered greatly. The Ye family became infamous as a result.
Yuvyuv felt a sharp pain in her chest, suppressing the surge of anger and resentment. She lowered her gaze for a moment. When she looked up again, her smile was as innocent as a child's, "Sister, you're overthinking. I can hardly understand what you're saying."
She playfully tugged at her sister's sleeve, her bright eyes wide and innocent, "Sister, you and Dad have always cared for me. Of course, I want to protect you both!"
Her smile was so pure, like a child unaware of the world's complexities. Nianci breathed a sigh of relief and couldn't help but gently pat her sister's hand, "You little rascal, you nearly scared me to death."
She tapped Yuvyuv's forehead with a teasing smile, "Talking about protecting me and Dad with such confidence, you'd better learn some skills first."
The sisters laughed together. After a while, Yuvyuv looked up with her bright, clear eyes and said, "Sister, aren't you curious about the woman who barged into the teahouse today and her connection to Wen Shixing?"
Some things, even if big sister doesn’t mention them, Yuvyuv has to say.
“That woman, the one called Ms. Mei?” Nianci shook her head slightly, her eyelashes lowered, her voice indifferent. “Today, I finally saw her true colors. I don’t want to know anything about him anymore. If I see him again, I’ll just pretend I don’t know him.”
Yuvyuv sighed inwardly, “Big sister is still hurt.”
After thinking it over, Yuvyuv decided to tell her sister a few things. “Big sister, I have something to tell you, but can you promise not to tell Dad? Just the two of us will know.”
Nianci was a bit taken aback, seeing her sister’s serious and cautious expression, which made her a little nervous. “What is it, Yuvyuv? Did that person bully you?”
Her expression instantly turned grim.
Yuvyuv quickly held her sister’s hand. “Big sister, you’re overthinking it. I just want to tell you the real story about Wen Shixing. And what I plan to do in the future—I don’t want to keep it from you anymore, but I hope you’ll be on my side.”
Yuvyuv paused, her voice lowering with a hint of gravity. “I want you to trust me, no matter what I do in the future. Don’t question me, and don’t doubt my intentions. I won’t harm our family; I just want to protect it.”
Nianci looked at her sister, who had never seemed so serious, and her heart tightened.
She couldn’t imagine what her sister was planning, but she believed her because this was her only sister—she wouldn’t doubt her.
“Alright, big sister promises you, no matter what you do, right or wrong, I’ll believe in you and stand by your side,” Nianci agreed without hesitation.
Yuvyuv felt warmth envelop her heart.
She just wanted her sister not to doubt her, but her sister said she would believe in her, right or wrong.
Yuvyuv then told her sister everything about Wen Shixing.
After hearing it all, Nianci sat on the bed, stunned.
She didn’t come back to her senses for a long time.
After a while, Nianci’s lips moved, drawing out a long sound, “Wen Shixing... is such a scumbag...”
Yuvyuv remained silent, worried about startling her sister. Her sister had always been kind-hearted and naive, never exposed to the world's true evils. Wen Shixing, that despicable man, had thoroughly disgusted her sister.
Yuvyuv was concerned that because of this scumbag, her sister might lose faith in men, something she hoped would never happen.
"Sis, people like Wen Shixing are rare. We just had the misfortune of encountering him. No, he deliberately targeted us. It has nothing to do with us. Please, don't lose faith because of him," Yuvyuv gently advised her sister.
Nianci didn’t respond, her face pale and distressed. She had withdrawn her hand from Yuvyuv’s grasp at some point, now pinching her palm, her eyes filled with nausea.
Suddenly, Nianci pushed her sister aside and rushed to the bathroom. Yuvyuv was extremely worried, regretting having told her sister the truth.
Nianci was sick for a full hour, emptying her stomach until only water was left. Exhausted, she was helped back to bed by Yuvyuv, who stayed by her side, not daring to leave.
At three in the afternoon, her sister woke up. Seeing her sister looking slightly better, Yuvyuv didn’t say much, sensing she wanted some time alone, and quietly left the room.
On her way downstairs, she asked Mrs. Sui to check on her sister frequently. Then, she headed to the study.
Opening the door, she saw her father seated in his leather chair, seemingly waiting for her for quite some time. Yuvyuv instinctively shrank her neck, lowered her head, and slowly walked over to Ye Mingyuan, softly calling, "Dad!"
There was no response. Well, there was—a huff of anger from his nostrils.
Yuvyuv shrank her neck again, raised her voice slightly, and quickly glanced at her father, feeling a bit wronged. "Dad, are you mad?"
"Hmph!" This time, Ye Mingyuan let out a sound of discontent.
Ye Yuvyuv felt genuinely wronged. She glanced at her father, then turned to leave.
Ye Mingyuan's eyes widened. He slammed his large hand on the table with a "thud." "Ye Erya, get back here."
Ye Yuvyuv obediently stopped.
She turned around, her small face stubborn, her large, watery eyes full of grievance. "Dad, my name is Ye Yuvyuv. My nickname is Erya."
Ye Mingyuan couldn't help but chuckle at his daughter's antics.
He rubbed his forehead with a sigh, pressing his fingers against his temples before pointing to the door. In a stern voice, he said, "Close the door and come here. I have something to ask you."
"Okay, Dad." Ye Yuvyuv replied softly, her demeanor as docile as a little bunny.
If Ye Mingyuan hadn't raised her himself, he might have been fooled by her current obedience.
But he was Erya's father. He knew all too well that his daughter's mischievous tricks were reserved for him alone.
He adored his precious daughter, unable to bring himself to scold or punish her, knowing it would break his own heart.
Ye Mingyuan took a deep breath, deciding not to engage in a drawn-out conversation with his daughter. Otherwise, she'd surely twist his words and leave him bewildered with her cleverness.
His sharp eyes fixed intently on Ye Yuvyuv. "Erya, tell me the truth. Was today's little drama your doing?"
