C119 Miss Yuvyuv Your Methods Are Old and Cunning!
"Yes, Dad, you really have a keen eye!" Yuvyuv's little face lit up with admiration as she looked at Mingyuan. She openly admitted, right in front of her dad, that the whole teahouse scene was her idea.
Mingyuan took a deep breath, trying to look stern, and said, "Yuvyuv, be serious. What's the deal with that guy Wen and the woman called Ms. Mei? Why did she chase after him?"
Hearing her dad curse Wen, Yuvyuv felt a sense of satisfaction, thinking it was no wonder her dad always said she took after him. Even calling Wen a scoundrel was something they both did.
Seeing her dad's serious face, Yuvyuv felt a bit scared. She quickly composed herself and looked at him with a serious expression. "Dad, Wen is a real snake. You heard Ms. Mei cursing him, right?"
Mingyuan nodded.
Yuvyuv continued, "According to what I paid someone to find out, Ms. Mei is Wen's half-sister..."
She lied, unable to tell her dad the truth. She still needed to use Wen, that scumbag. There was no way she'd let him off so easily. She wanted him to suffer.
"Half-sister?" Mingyuan was a bit surprised.
He looked at his daughter with some disbelief and pointed out, "I don't know, it seemed like Ms. Mei and Wen had a rather unusual relationship."
He didn't want to directly suggest they were romantically involved, since his daughter was still young. But he also didn't want to be fooled by her.
"Dad, of course, their relationship is unusual," Yuvyuv's heart skipped a beat, but she maintained her composure.
She widened her eyes, not daring to blink, afraid her dad would get more suspicious, which would make it harder to cover up her lie. So she said, "Wen's family is from a small town in the South. He was born into a merchant family, but he's just a son from a second wife."
He had two older brothers, so he wasn't really valued at home. He wanted to make something of himself, but his family wouldn't support him. So, he turned to his married sister, Ms. Mei, for help. He begged her to fund his studies abroad, promising that once he succeeded, he would repay her kindness by working tirelessly for her.
He swore to Ms. Mei that after returning from his studies, he would not only repay the money she spent on his education but also help manage her in-laws' business.
Yuvyuv crafted the story with great detail, ensuring there was nothing that might arouse her father's suspicion. When she finished speaking, even she was impressed by her ability to deceive her father.
Seeing her father's slightly relaxed expression, Yuvyuv knew her mix of truth and lies had convinced him. Not wanting to overstay and risk slipping up, she said, "Dad, I have to go to the military hospital tonight. I don't have much time, so I'll visit my sister before I leave."
Ye Mingyuan snapped out of his thoughts. "Alright, go ahead and comfort your sister."
"Okay, Dad," Yuvyuv replied obediently, then left the study. She didn't realize that as she turned away, her father, Ye Mingyuan, watched her with a thoughtful look in his sharp eyes.
In the evening, Yuvyuv saw that her sister was feeling a bit better, so she said her goodbyes to her sister and father, packed her things, and left the family home. She got into the family car and instructed the driver, Mr. Li, to take a detour to a bakery.
After asking the driver to wait outside, she went into the bakery. She browsed the display of various breads and pointed out a few of her favorites. As the clerk packed them up, she smiled and asked, "Could I please use your phone for a moment?"
Seeing the salesgirl hesitate, she pulled out an extra two dollars. "This is for the phone call. I don't want to use it for free."
"Oh, miss, that's not necessary. Just come back and shop with us again," the salesgirl quickly replied, smiling as she led Yuvyuv to the counter.
She pointed to the phone inside, indicating that Yuvyuv could use it freely. This salesgirl was sharp and business-savvy, and Yuvyuv gave her a sweet smile in return.
The salesgirl was taken aback by her smile, thinking, "This young lady's smile is as beautiful as a freshly bloomed pink rose, so vibrant and lovely."
Yuvyuv casually flipped through the local phone directory on the nearby shelf, her finger landing on "Bolton Inn," and dialed the number.
The call connected, and a woman's voice came through, laced with a chilling amusement. "Miss Yuvyuv, thanks!"
The woman's voice carried a Southern accent, with its melodic tones.
Yuvyuv raised an eyebrow. "No need to be so formal. You didn't forget what I asked, right?" She paused, then added, "I want that guy looking good, just make sure his limbs are intact. The rest is up to you."
A sinister laugh echoed from the other end. "Miss Yuvyuv, you're young but quite the strategist."
Yuvyuv smiled faintly. "Compared to Ms. Mei, I'm still a novice."
The woman on the other end burst into laughter, almost breathless, and said, "Miss Yuvyuv, I like your style. How about we do more business together?"
Yuvyuv chuckled, "Sure!"
The line suddenly went silent, as if the woman hadn't expected such an immediate response. Her voice tightened slightly, "Miss Yuvyuv, you didn't even ask about the business, yet you're ready to agree. That's bold."
"Thank you for the compliment, Ms. Mei," Yuvyuv replied with a serene smile. "Isn't business all about seizing opportunities? You need opportunities, and so do I. When you think about it, it's quite simple, isn't it?"
There was a brief silence on the other end, followed by a laugh. This time, the laughter was clear and straightforward, lacking the previous sinister tone, though the voice turned cautious. "I plan to stay in this region, not going back to the small southern town. I was hoping to use Miss Yuvyuv's connections to meet Director Ye. What do you think?"
Ye Yuvyuv's smile faded slightly. "My dad?"
The voice on the phone became a bit urgent. "I can offer Director Ye thirty percent."
Ye Yuvyuv suddenly laughed, her voice a bit cold. "Do you think my dad would be interested?"
"Miss Yuvyuv, not interested in thirty percent?" The voice on the other end deepened.
Ye Yuvyuv glanced around. The saleswoman was wisely standing at a distance, and no one else was nearby. She lowered her voice. "It's not that I'm not interested in thirty percent, but maybe Ms. Mei is underestimating herself."
"What do you mean?" Ms. Mei gripped the phone tightly.
"Ms. Mei, are you still thinking about your old line of work?" Ye Yuvyuv smiled faintly, then suddenly lowered her voice, pressing closer to the phone. "Haven't you ever thought about doing real big business, becoming a major player, dominating the market, standing tall, and being admired and respected?"
Ms. Mei held the phone, suddenly taken aback, her eyes shining with an unusual excitement, feeling her heart about to leap out of her chest.
