C12 The Ye Family Was Haunted!

In the dead of night, the perfect time for sinister deeds and when the gates of the underworld are said to open, releasing vengeful spirits.

On the second floor of the house, a window was being tapped rhythmically, as if in tune with the eerie atmosphere. The half-open window creaked and groaned, echoing the sound of a ghostly knock.

Suddenly, a pale, slender hand appeared at the window, followed by a head, a body, until a woman in a white dress with disheveled hair stood before it. The night breeze swept into the room.

A woman sleeping in the bed stirred awake, shivering slightly from the cold. Groggily, she mumbled, "Did I forget to close the window?" As she sat up to shut it, she suddenly screamed, "Ah, a ghost!"

Her piercing cry shattered the silence of the night, waking everyone in the house. Even the elderly lady, who had been praying in the back room for days, was nearly frightened out of her wits. The prayer beads she had been holding snapped with a sudden "snap" as her eyes flew open.

"Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy, protect us," she whispered, trembling as she clasped her hands together in prayer.

Meanwhile, a shadow lurking by her window watched with a hint of mockery in its eyes. A young woman's cold voice murmured, "Old lady, divine protection doesn't cover those with a forked tongue. No matter how many prayers you chant, they won't erase the wrongs you've done."

With a disdainful glance at the shivering figure inside, the apparition in white drifted past the window, lingering deliberately for a moment.

Until the old lady in the house let out a piercing scream and the entire figure collapsed onto the bed, the ghostly presence seemed to drift away. The silhouette was eerily reminiscent of a female ghost. Yet, from behind, this ghostly figure was quite striking.

Rumors spread that the Ye family was haunted. And not just by any ghost, but a ghostly woman in white. She had long, straight black hair that obscured her face, wore a flowing white dress that swept the floor, and moved as if floating. When she suddenly lifted her face, her eyes were dark voids, seemingly capable of stealing one's soul.

These whispers circulated throughout the Ye household all night, leaving everyone on edge. No one had a restful sleep. Well, except for one person, who slept peacefully with a pure smile, like a child who had just received candy.

When Ye Mingyuan heard about the haunting, he immediately rushed to his daughter's room on the third floor. Only after seeing her peacefully asleep did he breathe a sigh of relief. His eldest daughter, Ye Nianci, also hurried in. Seeing her sister still asleep, she relaxed, just like her father.

After the terrifying incident on the train the previous night, both Ye Mingyuan and Ye Nianci were understandably anxious. A sudden haunting in the middle of the night naturally led them to fear the worst.

Lying in bed pretending to sleep, Ye Yuvyuv's eyelids fluttered slightly. She felt a surge of excitement and wanted to jump up immediately. She wanted to open her eyes and see her dad, but she was afraid of startling him. After a moment's thought, she decided to feign waking up, rubbing her eyes and softly calling out, "Dad, Big Sis, why are you in my room?"

"Dad, look, Yuvyuv's awake!" Ye Nianci exclaimed excitedly, rushing to her sister's bedside.

"You're awake, Erya!" Ye Mingyuan called out.

Ye Yuvyuv's initial impulse to leap from the bed and throw herself into her father's arms, crying her heart out, was tempered by the sight of her loving family.

Completely frustrated.

Erya, that's been her nickname since she was little.
