C126 The Person Wasnt Dead yet He Wasnt a Corpse!

Yuvyuv turned around and began to seriously examine the spacious autopsy room. It was about a thousand square feet, with enough space to accommodate six operating tables. Of course, these tables were meant for the deceased. The room was permeated with the metallic scent of blood.

Fortunately, before coming here, Yuvyuv had taken a pill crafted by Elder Qian to calm her nerves. She was aware that Huo Lingxiao likely knew about her bloodlust condition. She wondered if he had assigned her to the forensic department as a way to fight fire with fire. She couldn't be sure of Huo Lingxiao's intentions, but she was keen to try. Perhaps the condition she thought was cured in a past life could truly be healed in this autopsy room. Who knows?

After all, fate has a way of playing tricks, but it also offers a glimmer of hope, doesn't it? Regardless, she had to give it a shot. Yuvyuv was determined not to let her bloodlust take over again. When it did, even she was terrified of herself. That kind of madness for blood could drag her into a personal hell. She didn't want to become a bloodthirsty monster, and if she couldn't control it, she feared she might harm her loved ones. That would drive her insane.

Lost in thought, Yuvyuv stood in the center of the autopsy room, her petite frame enveloped in an invisible chill, as if she were in a tranquil world of her own. Sinan leaned against an operating table, arms crossed, watching the small figure with eyes that flickered between light and shadow. He wondered what this little demon, who had suddenly entered his life, was thinking.

Then—

The door of the autopsy room was knocked on urgently. A flash of irritation crossed Sinan's face at the interruption. However, when he opened the door and saw the blue-faced corpse being wheeled in on a stretcher, a strange smile appeared on his face.

He curved his lips into a mischievous smile and waved toward Yuvyuv. "Hey, Little Demon, come on over. We've got work to do."

Yuvyuv had already snapped back to reality when she heard the knock at the door. When Sinan called her, she peeked over and saw the corpse with a bluish tint, causing her eyes to flicker with a hint of something unusual. She stood still, not moving.

Sinan assumed his Little Demon was scared stiff at the sight of a corpse for the first time. Thinking he might have frightened her earlier, he decided to cut her some slack. "If you're scared, you can wait outside for a bit," he offered, his eyes glinting with mischief.

The male forensic technicians nearby exchanged knowing glances, realizing Sinan was up to no good. They couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy for the seemingly sweet and innocent young woman standing there.

Except for the department head and Sinan, no one knew Yuvyuv's true background. They just assumed she was a recent medical school graduate who had joined their military hospital. Seeing her petite and youthful appearance, most of the forensic staff, who were predominantly from military backgrounds, felt a protective instinct toward her.

One young technician couldn't resist whispering to Sinan, "Sinan, don't go overboard. She's just a young girl."

Everyone knew how difficult Sinan could be. Previous assistants, regardless of gender, rarely lasted more than a week before being scared off or bullied away. Now that they finally had another assistant, and such a delicate and stunning one at that, they hoped she wouldn't be frightened off too.

Sinan narrowed his eyes at the young technician who spoke up and sneered, "You're quite chatty today. Want to have a conversation with my mummified friend later?"

The young technician's face turned pale, and he clamped his mouth shut in frustration.

The other forensic pathologists were careful not to provoke Sinan. Everyone knew that Sinan was hired by the institute with a high salary and had some influential connections. Although they were all from military backgrounds, they weren't the kind who had seen real combat, so they didn't have the rough-and-tumble attitude of seasoned soldiers. Naturally, they preferred not to get into conflicts with Sinan.

Moreover, Sinan was genuinely talented. He was a true genius; any body that came into his hands, whether it was a mummified corpse or a fresh one, he could clearly determine the true cause of death. So, in the city, when the police department couldn't solve a case involving a suspicious death, they would transfer it to the forensic department at the military hospital for a definitive cause of death.

The body in front of them was one such case, transferred from the police department. The family of the deceased had also arrived and was waiting in the hospital lobby for the results. Faintly, the sounds of their cries and pleas for justice could be heard.

Sinan noticed that Yuvyuv hadn't come over, but he didn't call for her again. Instead, he instructed someone to prepare a simple report on the cause of death. This was essentially the report from the police department, which contained their suspicions and the evidence they had collected.

The report was being read by a forensic intern. He read it earnestly and carefully. To Sinan, however, it seemed filled with unnecessary details. He was tempted to snatch the report and read it himself.

Suddenly, a clear, cold voice of a young woman broke the silence, "The person isn't dead; this isn't a corpse."

"Thud!" The intern, startled, dropped the report onto the bluish corpse. Sinan was furious and kicked the intern aside. Quickly retrieving the report from the body, he turned and angrily reprimanded, "When there's suspicion of homicide, you can't disturb the body in the slightest. Don't you know that? Get out!"

The intern, a young male doctor, was terrified and quickly apologized before leaving. Meanwhile, the other forensic pathologists were too preoccupied to pay attention to the intern's blunder.

A pair of sharp eyes, like searchlights, scanned Yuvyuv with a piercing gaze.

An older medical examiner looked at Yuvyuv and spoke sternly, "Young lady, do you realize what you just said? As a doctor, no matter the specialty, you must speak with precision. You can't just make reckless statements."

Other examiners chimed in.

"Yeah, yeah, young lady, you probably haven't even seen a dead body before. How can you just spout nonsense?"

"This person has already passed away. How could they not be dead?"

"This girl really doesn't know her limits. She's not suited for our forensic department. The director should send her away immediately."

"Right, send her back to wherever she came from. She shouldn't be here causing trouble."

The examiners' comments grew increasingly harsh.

Yuvyuv stood her ground, seemingly unfazed by their sarcasm, and calmly repeated, "The person isn't dead, not a corpse."

Her words immediately sparked the examiners' anger.

Only Sinan furrowed his brow slightly. When he's working, he's usually quite rational.

He glanced at Yuvyuv a few times and suddenly gestured, "Hey, come over here."

The examiners were taken aback by Sinan's casual address.
