C14 Our Daughter Has Guts!

The moment Ye Mingyuan heard the news, he almost jumped out of his skin. Was it really his daughter, the one who had been pampered at home and never lifted a finger, who did this? Sure, she was always a bit of a tomboy, constantly getting into mischief, but murder? That was beyond his imagination.

Initially, he was worried about his daughter's audacity to confront a criminal, but at the same time, he felt a surge of pride. He wanted to boast to his friends, "Look, that's my girl, brave as any boy." Ye Mingyuan's heart swelled with excitement as he looked at his daughter. She was his pride and joy, truly a chip off the old block.

As he watched her, he thought, "Good girl, you haven't let the family down." Ye Yuvyuv felt a bit awkward under her father's beaming gaze, unaware of his inner thoughts. If she knew, she'd probably be exasperated. Wasn't a typical father supposed to scold her for taking such a big risk? Where was the lecture about behaving like a proper young lady?

In her mind, she joked that this couldn't be her real dad; he must be a stepfather. Despite her thoughts, she smiled sweetly, wrapping her arms around his neck, and said, "Dad, I've missed you." With that, the tears she'd been holding back finally spilled over, and she cried in the familiar comfort of her father's embrace.

Ye Mingyuan was heartbroken by his daughter's tears. He initially thought she was too old to be so clingy and tried to gently push her away. But hearing her cry so pitifully, he couldn't focus on anything else. He quickly reached out to comfort her, softly patting her back and soothing her not to cry. Her tears felt like they were tearing him apart.

To him, this daughter was as precious as half his life. Though he had a rough past, he cherished life dearly. Ever since she was born, he had protected her as if she were his own lifeline. He couldn't bear to scold or even lightly reprimand her.

"Erya, don't cry, please don't cry. Seeing you like this makes my heart ache. You're my precious girl, and I can't stand to see you shed a single tear. You're a treasure to me," he said, his voice full of concern.

He motioned for his eldest daughter to come over and help console her sister but then remembered something and waved her away. Recently, Erya had been upset with her sister, often going to their grandfather's place and giving her sister the cold shoulder. He thought it best not to bring the eldest over, fearing it might upset Erya even more and make her cry harder, which would break his heart.

Ye Mingyuan was undeniably biased, and he knew it. Out of his seven children, he favored Erya the most. Partly because she was born to his wife, but also because she reminded him of himself. If Ye Yuvyuv knew the real reason her father doted on her, she might just explode with disbelief. Despite her mischievous nature, her father still adored her.

You could say her dad was quite the character.

Yuvyuv cried for a long time. Finally, she lifted her tear-streaked face, her big eyes blinking with a pitiful look, and suddenly blurted out, "Dad, I just saw Mom!"

"What!"

Ye Mingyuan, holding a cup of water, was so shocked that he spilled it all. He stood there, dumbfounded, staring wide-eyed at his daughter, his voice trembling, "Erya, what did you just say? You saw your mom?"

Ye Mingyuan's hands were shaking with nervousness.

And just as Ye Nianci was about to leave the room, she froze in her tracks at the sound. She quickly turned her head to look at her sister on the bed, "Yuvyuv, how could you have seen Mom?"

Their mother had passed away when Yuvyuv was just ten years old. It had been five years since she died.
