C142 Yuvyuv Did You Miss Me?
The operator on the other end didn't realize the caller was impersonating the real Seventh Miss, so they promptly connected the call.
In a moment, Ye Yuvyuv heard the operator's voice again, "Sorry, Miss, the General doesn't take personal calls."
In the military, everyone referred to Huo Lingxiao as the General. He preferred this title over "Young Marshal," and the soldiers felt that only the rank of General suited his fierce and commanding presence on the battlefield.
Ye Yuvyuv paused, suddenly remembering that Huo Lingxiao wasn't fond of the Seventh Miss from the Huo family. Her eyes shifted as she decided to ask the operator for another connection, "Just tell him Fifth Miss Ye is also on the line with something important to discuss."
The operator hesitated for a second, "Alright, Miss, please hold on while I try to connect you again."
This time, Huo Lingxiao's deep, magnetic voice came through, "Yuvyuv, did you miss me so much you had to pretend to be someone else to call me?"
Ye Yuvyuv blushed at his words, feeling the heat rise to her cheeks, and resisted the urge to retort about his thick skin. She composed herself and said, "Sixth Master, there's an issue at the military hospital. Do you want to come over personally?"
Huo Lingxiao assumed someone had wronged Ye Yuvyuv, "Who bullied you? Tell me, and I'll make it right."
"It's not me. Can you come back? It's urgent, and I need to borrow some of your men," Ye Yuvyuv couldn't disclose the real situation over the phone.
These were unstable times, and phone lines were easily tapped by enemies, making them unsafe.
Sensing the gravity of the situation, Huo Lingxiao responded, "Alright, I'll be there in ten minutes."
After hanging up, Ye Yuvyuv quickly headed downstairs. In the living room, she saw several aides that Huo Lingxiao had stationed at the apartment. She approached them, "I've spoken with Sixth Master. I need to borrow you for a while to help relocate this family to a safe place and settle them in."
The aides understood that the Fifth Miss Ye held significant importance in their master's eyes, so they readily agreed.
After the adjutant left, Yuvyuv returned to the hospital. There were important matters that required her personal attention. As she walked into the hospital lobby, she noticed two familiar figures, a man and a woman. From a distance, she could hear the woman speaking in a sweet, coquettish voice, "Sir, thank you for bringing me to the hospital. If it weren't for you today, I might have fainted on the street with no one to help me."
The man responded with a perfectly polite smile, "Miss, you're too kind. Anyone who saw a gentle lady like you in distress would surely want to help. Besides, it was just a small favor to bring you to the hospital. No need to mention it."
"You're such a good person, sir. May I know your name and where you live? Once I'm better, I must thank you properly," the woman replied, her voice even more delicate, her cheeks flushed. Whether from illness or shyness, it was hard to tell.
Yuvyuv hid behind a pillar in the hospital corridor, her amber eyes gleaming with insight. "It's Wen Shixing," she thought. "Looks like Ms. Mei has kept him in check. He's already back to his old ways, charming women."
Yuvyuv didn't have time to linger. She knew Ms. Mei, her future business partner, was trustworthy. At the very least, she had instructed Ms. Mei to keep Wen Shixing's pretty face intact for future use. Ms. Mei, who would have loved nothing more than to tear him apart, had held back, leaving his woman-attracting face untouched. This was Yuvyuv's request—no matter how Ms. Mei dealt with him, his face had to remain.
A cold glint flashed in Yuvyuv's eyes as she watched the woman's retreating figure, a chilling smile playing on her lips. "My dear third sister, don't disappoint me. Your mother, the second wife, used Wen Shixing to try and ruin my and my eldest sister's reputation. I'll make sure her own daughter pays the price. Let's see how your mother, with her vicious ways, keeps up the act."
She swiftly dodged out of sight, disappearing into the hospital lobby.
Yulin stood by the hospital window, waiting to pick up her prescription. Suddenly, she felt a chill at her back and turned to glance behind her, thinking she saw that little troublemaker, Yuvyuv. But in the blink of an eye, the figure vanished.
"Am I seeing things? I heard that little troublemaker was sent to intern at some hospital by her father. Could it be this military hospital?" Yulin pondered, her expression darkening.
Wen Shixing approached with a warm smile, having just picked up the medication. "I've got the medicine. Let me get you a cab."
"Sir, would you like to visit my home? My family would love to thank you for your kindness." Yulin quickly masked her displeasure with a soft, gentle smile.
Wen Shixing looked at Yulin, who, despite her plain appearance, tried to act demure, which he found nauseating. He thought to himself, "How can two daughters from the same family look so different?"
His mind wandered to the eldest daughter, Nianci, a true epitome of grace and beauty. And then there was her sister, Yuvyuv, a real little enchantress. Those sisters would be a trophy for any man.
But then, Wen Shixing remembered Ms. Mei's ruthlessness and how the real mastermind behind his troubles was none other than that little enchantress, Yuvyuv. She was young but incredibly vicious.
He had barely escaped Ms. Mei's clutches and didn't want to fall into another trap set by that girl. Wen Shixing's eyes darkened as he thought about regaining Ms. Mei's trust and eventually getting back at that girl.
For now, though, he was under Ms. Mei's watchful eye and had to do as she instructed. Any failure would result in punishment when he returned.
Wen Shixing shivered from the pain in his back. He politely addressed Yulin, "Miss, there's no need to worry. It was just a small favor. If you're interested, how about we grab some coffee on Sunday?"
"Sure, just make sure you don't stand me up," Yulin exclaimed excitedly, then quickly realized she might have sounded too eager. She toned it down, adopting a shy, demure demeanor.
Her act made Wen Shixing feel nauseated, but he had no choice but to play along.
In the dissection room, Huangfu Sinan watched Ye Yuvyuv return, his face dark and foreboding, like a menacing creature. His eyes were pitch-black, and his voice carried an eerie chill. "Little Demon, get this thing out of my hands."
"Professor, you didn't really hold onto it the whole time, did you?" Ye Yuvyuv asked, surprised and amused, as she walked over.
Seeing Huangfu Sinan carefully cradling the cooler, she couldn't help herself and burst into laughter.
