C144 Sixth Master She Doesn't Belong to You!
Huangfu Sinan narrowly dodged, just missing a slap to the face. He leaned in with a menacing whisper, "Little Demon, do you know what happens to those who dare to lay a hand on me?"
Ye Yuvyuv couldn't be bothered to respond to this troublemaker.
Just then, a familiar, icy voice came from the doorway. "The outcome is that you've grown tired of living, Huangfu Sinan, daring to bully her."
"Sixth Master!" Ye Yuvyuv's eyes widened as she instinctively called out.
Her voice was sweet and soft, with a charming Southern lilt that was pleasing to the ear. Even Ye Yuvyuv didn't realize how naturally she cooed when she called him "Sixth Master."
Huangfu Sinan's expression darkened. He clenched his fist subtly, but his face maintained a seductive smile as he looked at Huo Lingxiao, who strode in wearing a deep blue military uniform, exuding a cold, commanding presence.
The two men were nearly the same height, with Huo Lingxiao standing just under an inch taller than Huangfu Sinan. Both were strikingly handsome, and Ye Yuvyuv found herself comparing them. She noted that Huangfu Sinan had an alluring, delicate beauty, while Huo Lingxiao possessed a noble, god-like masculinity.
If she had to choose between the two, Ye Yuvyuv would honestly pick Huo Lingxiao, with his overwhelming masculine energy. His steely demeanor could captivate any woman—provided he wasn't being a madman or a freak.
Thinking back to the previous night, when this jerk had shamelessly tormented her, Ye Yuvyuv mentally gave Huo Lingxiao a negative score.
In her mind, she criticized him harshly—this jerk was a wolf in sheep's clothing, a big bad wolf with no one around to see his true nature.
"What happened?" Huo Lingxiao asked, stepping past Huangfu Sinan to join Ye Yuvyuv by the operating table.
Ye Yuvyuv pointed at the freezer and carefully recounted the events of the morning to Huo Lingxiao.
"The black bead inside is actually a petri dish with live bacteria. I suspect it's plague bacteria!"
Her last words were whispered so only the three of them could hear. Huo Lingxiao and Sinan both looked shocked.
"Yuvyuv, how can you be sure it's the plague?" Huo Lingxiao's eyes were sharp and scrutinizing.
Ye Yuvyuv felt a surge of anger. Was he doubting her?
She pushed the freezer toward Huo Lingxiao with a cold expression. "Fine, if you don't believe me, take it and do whatever you want."
Her push was forceful. Sinan quickly reached out to steady it, concerned. "Be careful, Yuvyuv, there are bacteria in there."
Especially after hearing that it might be plague bacteria, Sinan was extra cautious.
Huo Lingxiao stood there, calm and composed, before making a decision. "I trust you. Grab the box and come with me."
Ye Yuvyuv's angry expression softened slightly, and she instinctively looked up. "Where to?"
She clamped her mouth shut, feeling like she was always being led around by Huo Lingxiao. It was the same in the past.
Every time he finished putting her through grueling training, he'd say they were going for drinks, and she'd follow him, forgetting how he'd just pushed her to her limits.
"Don't ask anything. Just take the box and stay close," Huo Lingxiao ordered, his military uniform looking especially stern and unapproachable under the lights.
Ye Yuvyuv instinctively treated him like her commanding officer from the past, grabbing the freezer to follow him.
But Sinan caught her wrist. "Wait, take the box, but Yuvyuv can't go with you."
Huangfu Sinan seemed to have guessed something and quickly stopped Ye Yuvyuv.
"Let her go!" Huo Lingxiao turned, his gaze fixed on the small hand held by Sinan. His dark eyes were filled with a terrifying rage.
In a flash, he was beside Ye Yuvyuv, pulling her wrist free from Sinan's grip with a swift motion.
His voice was cold and cutting, like a fierce wind, "Sinan, have you forgotten my warning? If you can't do your job right, then get out!"
Ye Yuvyuv was frightened, caught between the two men, not understanding why the situation had suddenly become so tense. Was it because of her?
Suddenly, she realized that the world of men could be just as complicated as that of women.
Sinan glared at Huo Lingxiao, a mocking smile on his lips. "She's my assistant now. If you want to take her, shouldn't you ask me, her professor, first?"
"Did Yuvyuv tell you whose woman she is now?" Huo Lingxiao's face was cold and stern, his eyes flashing dangerously.
Ye Yuvyuv felt a wave of dizziness, her face turning pale.
She looked up, her pale face filled with anger as she glared at Huo Lingxiao, wishing she could make him disappear.
How could he disregard her dignity like this, speaking so carelessly? Being his lover—was that something to be proud of?
Ye Yuvyuv felt a pain and humiliation she had never experienced before, ashamed to face anyone.
"Huo Lingxiao!"
Her voice was icy, devoid of warmth, as she shook off his grip, picked up her suitcase, and quickly walked out of the lab.
She felt suffocated, her face cold and pale.
"Sixth Master, she doesn't belong to you. You shouldn't force her to stay by your side. She won't be happy like this," Sinan said coldly, directly challenging Huo Lingxiao.
Huo Lingxiao's eyes were as dark as night, his presence as sharp and cold as a blade aimed at Sinan.
"Whether she belongs to me or not is none of your business to meddle with. My patience has limits, and if you don't want to be sent back south, remember my warning: stick to your duties, teach her what she needs to know, but don't get too close, or else..."
A cold, murderous intent flickered in his eyes.
At the end of the hallway, a young girl stood by the window, her silhouette delicate yet lonely. The autumn wind brushed against her face, stinging slightly, but nothing compared to the pain Huo Lingxiao had just inflicted on her.
Ye Yuvyuv knew all too well how terrifying Huo Lingxiao's possessiveness could be. He treated her like his property, a pet to toy with at his whim. She felt powerless to fight back, and even the thought of escape seemed impossible now. She despised this devil, both in past and present lives, for never letting her go. She was fed up with his control.
A familiar scent of cigars approached, and Ye Yuvyuv didn't need to turn around to know Huo Lingxiao was standing behind her. She heard his deep voice ask, "Yuvyuv, are you upset? Why?"
"Why do you think, Sixth Master?" Ye Yuvyuv replied with a cold, mocking laugh, her voice tinged with icy disdain.
"Yuvyuv, don't speak to me with that tone. Are you asking for trouble again?" Huo Lingxiao moved closer, his long, well-defined fingers reaching to pull her into his embrace.
Ye Yuvyuv sidestepped away from him. Her amber eyes were clear and cold as she lifted the small cooler in her hand, reminding him, "Sixth Master, maybe you should find a place to deal with this first."
She used the cooler as a barrier to keep him at bay.
