C149 Sixth Master We Don't Have an Engagement!

Huo Lingxiao watched as the little woman's lips returned to their enticing red color, and only then did his expression soften. He reached out, gently lifting Ye Yuvyuv's smooth chin, forcing her to look him in the eye as he demanded, "Tell me, when did you become my lover without me knowing?"

Ye Yuvyuv was so angry she started to cry. "Isn't it obvious? You've got me practically imprisoned here, without any proper title. Isn't that what a lover looks like? What respectable young woman would live in a man's house, disregarding all propriety, and even sleep in his arms at night? Sixth Master, we have no engagement, we're not even dating. We're nothing, yet you treat me like your woman and bully me. It's too much."

Ye Yuvyuv broke down completely, her sobs growing louder and more pitiful. The adjutant standing guard outside couldn't help but feel for Miss Yuvyuv inside, thinking, "Miss Yuvyuv is crying so miserably. I wonder if the master hit her." The adjutant worried, "The master really doesn't know how to treat a lady. He should be comforting her."

But the adjutant only dared to criticize Sixth Master in his mind, not aloud. Otherwise, that would be asking for trouble.

"There, there, don't cry. I haven't even hit you, yet you're crying like this. Anyone who doesn't know better might think I really did something to you," Huo Lingxiao said, his expression softening. He had been angry at her harsh words, but seeing her cry so pitifully, his heart ached.

He gently patted Ye Yuvyuv's back and suddenly asked, "Yuvyuv, do you want to marry me?"

Ye Yuvyuv froze, her large eyes flashing with fear. She quickly lifted her tear-streaked face and shook her head vigorously. "No way!"

She'd have to be crazy to want to marry this terrifying demon in front of her. Knowing how frightening and insane he could be, after all she'd suffered in her past life, she'd have to be truly mad to want to marry him.

Her refusal came so swiftly, it was over in less than a second. Huo Lingxiao's previously calm expression turned dark in an instant. The atmosphere around him grew icy, and his grip on Yuvyuv's chin tightened coldly. The pain made her frown.

Yuvyuv met Huo Lingxiao's eyes, which were as deep and cold as a frozen lake, sending a chill through her heart. "Yuvyuv, I'll ask you one more time. Why don't you want to marry me?" His voice was sharp and laced with a biting chill, his gaze cold and piercing, as if an unsatisfactory answer would lead to dire consequences.

Yuvyuv shivered, unable to meet Huo Lingxiao's intimidating gaze. She lowered her eyes and whispered, "I don't want to."

"Why?" Huo Lingxiao's voice dropped, and his grip on her chin tightened as if he might crush her bones. Yuvyuv endured the pain, refusing to yield to his cruelty, and gritted out, "I don't like you."

The room fell into an eerie silence, chilling and ghostly. After uttering "I don't like you," Yuvyuv didn't dare lift her eyes, fearing Huo Lingxiao's wrathful gaze might consume her. She felt his murderous stare boring into her, and she didn't dare move, terrified of provoking the man who seemed like a demon.

She knew she had angered him, and in that moment, Yuvyuv was acutely aware that her fate rested entirely on his mood. Time dragged on, and Yuvyuv felt herself freezing in place. Finally, Huo Lingxiao's voice broke the silence, carrying an unsettling mix of indulgence and menace.

Huo Lingxiao's long, cool fingers gently traced over Yuvyuv's porcelain-like face. "Yuvyuv, it's okay if you don't like me now. It doesn't mean you won't in the future. As long as I like you, that's all that matters. You'll always be mine."

With a confident gaze, Huo Lingxiao leaned down and kissed Yuvyuv's trembling, cold lips. The kiss was deep, his tongue entwining with hers, as if sealing the promise he just made.

A chill ran through Yuvyuv's body. She had tried to provoke Huo Lingxiao, hoping he would grow to dislike her and let her go. But she underestimated his possessiveness. Once again, she found herself trapped by him.

This time, she heard the madness and restraint in his voice, masked by an eerie gentleness. He didn't just want her by his side; he wanted her to willingly fall for him.

No, that was impossible! She couldn't stay with a madman like him. It would drive her insane.

Later that evening, Huo Lingxiao handed her a release document as promised. "She's a convict. Once she's out, she can't use her real name or identity. She'll have to start anew."

"Alright, I understand. Thank you," Yuvyuv replied weakly, her lips swollen and sore from his punishing kiss. He had deliberately hurt her because she said she didn't like him.

She despised him, but she was too powerless to resist. She had to bide her time and wait. Once she was strong enough to stand against this demon, she would take him down herself.

"There's no need to thank me. You're mine, remember? Whatever you want or need, as long as I can do it, I will."

Huo Lingxiao smiled indulgently, gently placing a finger on Ye Yuvyuv's lips and softly asked, "Does it still hurt? It was my fault. I'll be gentler next time, okay?"

The devil's whisper in her ear was terrifying.

Ye Yuvyuv's back stiffened, but she held back from brushing Huo Lingxiao's hand away. She had important matters to attend to and couldn't afford to upset him. She finally had the document with the military government's seal to release someone and couldn't lose this opportunity.

"I'd like to take a day off tomorrow to pick someone up," Ye Yuvyuv murmured.

"Just a prisoner on death row, does Yuvyuv really need to go personally? Let the adjutant handle it," Huo Lingxiao replied dismissively. He had already had the adjutant investigate the prisoner and knew they were wrongfully imprisoned, so releasing them wasn't a big deal. However, the prisoner's background was somewhat complicated.

Huo Lingxiao looked down at the obedient woman in front of him. "Yuvyuv, after you get her out, what do you plan to do with her?" he asked in a low voice. "Her situation is complicated, and it might not be wise to keep her with you. Why not let me find a suitable place for her?"

Ye Yuvyuv's eyes slightly tensed. She could sense the probing in Huo Lingxiao's words. After all, her reason for asking him to release the prisoner seemed too casual. She had told him the prisoner had saved her life when she was thirteen, just two years ago. But that explanation was flimsy. If pressed, Huo Lingxiao could easily question where she was saved and how she knew the prisoner was framed.

Why had she waited a year after the imprisonment to act?

Yes, the prisoner had been jailed a year ago, before Ye Yuvyuv's rebirth. If he asked more questions, her lie would quickly unravel.
