C69 He Was Not Being Toyed with by a Man!

"Get on your knees, you ungrateful child!" Old Madam Ye sat squarely in the middle of the living room sofa, looking remarkably spry.

It was the middle of the night, yet she was still wide awake. Her resilience was impressive, though her go-to phrase, "Get on your knees, you ungrateful child!" was rather outdated.

Ye Yuvyuv raised an eyebrow, gesturing around at the Ye family members. She exclaimed, "Grandma, you're still up this late, waiting for the drama to unfold."

"Wow, Grandma, you're more energetic than my mom."

"My mom always takes a nap during the day and only comes out in the dead of night to watch over me and my sister."

Her last words carried an eerie, ghostly tone. Her delicate, pale finger suddenly pointed behind Old Madam Ye, as she let out a chilling laugh, "Grandma, look, my mom's spirit is right behind you, staring at you, her eyes bleeding..."

"Is it that ghost coming back? Oh Lord, have mercy, please take away the ghost behind me..."

Old Madam Ye was so terrified she froze, clutching her prayer beads so tightly they nearly flew out of her hands.

She gripped the beads, her lips trembling, her voice sharp and shaky as she pleaded for divine protection.

Everyone in the room was pale with fear.

Ye Yuvyuv, adding fuel to the fire, spoke in a low, raspy voice, "Grandma, my mom says you can stop calling out. The Lord won't take her away. She said she died so tragically and returned to protect her daughters from harm. So, with the Lord's permission, she'll be staying with the Ye family until my sister and I are married. Only then will her spirit leave."

Yuvyuv's face was ghostly pale, like a specter emerging from the depths of the underworld. Her chilling voice sent shivers down the spines of everyone in the room.

Suddenly, Yuvyuv pointed at the Second Concubine. "Grandma, my mom went to talk to the Second Concubine. Listen closely, Grandma. Can you hear what she's saying?"

"A ghost!"

Xiaoxiang, a timid maid standing next to the Second Concubine, let out a piercing scream. Her eyes rolled back, and she fainted from fright.

The living room erupted into chaos.

Ye Mingyuan was momentarily caught between skepticism and hope. On one hand, he suspected his beloved daughter, Erya, was causing a scene to avoid punishment for coming home late. On the other, a small part of him wished to catch a glimpse of the woman who had held an irreplaceable place in his heart. Even the shadow of her ghost would bring him some comfort.

As the household was thrown into disarray by Yuvyuv's eerie words, she seized the chance to slip back upstairs.

Suddenly, the Second Concubine's sharp, cutting voice pierced the commotion, scolding the servants, "Why are you all shouting like this? The lights are bright in here. Even if there were a ghost, it would be afraid of the light. What are you afraid of?"

Her words brought a brief calm to the chaos.

The Second Concubine approached Old Madam Ye, whispering something in her ear, casting occasional, suspicious glances at Yuvyuv and her maid, clearly harboring ill intentions.

Yuvyuv's hand, hidden at her side, itched with the urge to strike. She suddenly spoke up, "Hey, Second Concubine, isn't it strange? Where's your maid, Xiaotao? Everyone else is here, but she's missing."

Yuvyuv was about to speak when the Second Concubine managed to calm Old Madam Ye, who was about to return to the prayer room. However, Yuvyuv beat her to it. The Second Concubine's face turned a shade of blue, a bad feeling creeping into her mind. She wondered if Little Peach had messed things up. But then she reassured herself that it was impossible. The plan for tonight had been meticulously arranged with her contacts, and everything was set perfectly. All she needed was for this troublesome girl to fall into the trap, so she could celebrate with a glass of champagne.

Sending Little Peach to deliver a message seemed unnecessary, but the Second Concubine's eyes glinted with a venomous light. She thought about how that little traitor had dared to help Yuvyuv and her sister, reporting her to the master. Later, Little Peach had the nerve to crawl back, begging for forgiveness and asking to be taken back.

Such audacity! A good dog turned traitor, biting the hand that fed it. Did she think Wang Mei Hua, the Second Concubine’s real name, had a heart of gold?

Despite her anger at Little Peach's betrayal, the Second Concubine pretended to be magnanimous, taking her back, only to sell her out. Yes, she sold her. Little Peach was handed over to the thug helping with tonight’s plan, letting him have his way with her. In return, he would work even harder for the Second Concubine.

Reflecting on her actions, the Second Concubine felt quite clever. "See," she thought, "a traitor is useless if killed, but given to a thug, she becomes a loyal dog again."

After tonight, she wasn’t worried about Little Peach betraying her again. With her spirit broken, Little Peach would likely lose the will to live.

Hahaha—

The Second Concubine laughed darkly to herself, her amusement laced with malice. Yuvyuv kept her eyes fixed on the Second Concubine's face, scrutinizing every flicker of expression. Inwardly, she scoffed at the woman's venomous nature, confirming her suspicions of a heart as cold as a snake's.

When Yuvyuv mentioned the maid Xiaotao, a flash of smugness crossed the Second Concubine's eyes. Truly, she was the embodiment of a wicked woman. Poor Xiaotao, though, had brought it upon herself.

Suppressing the chill in her gaze, Yuvyuv raised an eyebrow and asked casually, "Why is it, Second Concubine, that your personal maid Xiaotao has gone missing, yet you don't seem the least bit worried?"

The Second Concubine masked her satisfaction, looking at Yuvyuv as if she were a lifeless fish on a chopping block—one that had been thoroughly ruined. Yet, the more the Second Concubine stared at the girl across from her, the more uneasy she became. How could this girl appear so composed?

Something was off.

The Second Concubine snapped out of her earlier arrogance, now truly observing Yuvyuv with growing apprehension. Her mind raced, assessing the situation: "This girl’s Western-style dress is immaculate, not a single sign of a struggle. Not even a wrinkle. The outfit is so pristine, it's almost blinding. And beneath that dress, her slender legs stand straight, showing no hint of discomfort or any awkward stance."

Could it be that this girl hadn't fallen into the trap, hadn't been harmed by a man after all?

The Second Concubine's eyes flickered with uncertainty.
