C79 A Young Noble from France
She was stunned. How could Henry possibly know Shixing? Could it be they met in France?
Suddenly, something flashed before Yuvyuv's eyes. In her excitement, she grabbed Henry's sleeve and asked urgently, "Henry, did you meet this person in France?"
But then Yuvyuv thought it was impossible. Henry, with his aristocratic background, would frequent luxurious places in France. Even if he went to college, it would be at a prestigious institution, not at some rundown school where Wen Shixing might have ended up.
Thinking about it, Yuvyuv felt she was being ridiculous. How could she imagine that someone like Henry, who mingled with the elite, would have crossed paths with Wen Shixing, who was deliberately sent to a subpar school by Ms. Mei?
Yuvyuv let go of Henry's sleeve, feeling deflated. Henry watched as her delicate hand slipped from his sleeve, feeling a momentary pang of loss. But he quickly noticed what had piqued her interest and said, "Little Yuvyuv, don't be discouraged. I might have actually met this Wen Shixing."
"That's impossible," Yuvyuv replied lazily. "Even if he studied in France, you, with your status as a French aristocrat, would never go to such places. Only the poor would."
She didn't believe for a second that Henry and Wen Shixing had met. And even if they had, so what? Their worlds were miles apart. Wen Shixing could try all he wanted, but he wouldn't even get past Henry's bodyguards.
"Little Yuvyuv, are you talking about the slums in France?" Henry suddenly asked.
Yuvyuv's eyes widened, and she looked at Henry with a hint of excitement. "You've been there?" she asked, her voice rising. "There's a rundown school there. Have you heard of it?"
To her surprise, Henry nodded. Yuvyuv was so thrilled she almost jumped up, but Henry quickly reached out to prevent her from hitting her head on the car roof. "Careful, don't bump your head," he warned.
"Oh, did you really go to that sketchy college?"
Ye Yuvyuv quickly sat up straight, her eyes bright as she fixed her gaze on Henry. Suddenly, a thought struck her, and she hesitated, "Wait a minute, why would someone like you, with such a prestigious background, go to a college in the slums?"
Ye Yuvyuv was starting to suspect that Henry was just pulling her leg. Her expression was about to turn sour.
At this moment, Tom, who was sitting in front and had been warned by his young master not to speak out of turn, couldn't help but interject, "Miss Yuvyuv, my young master isn't just about fun and games. He once went to the slums on the Earl's orders to understand the lives of the poor."
"Really? Are you serious?" Ye Yuvyuv bluntly questioned, her clear amber eyes scanning Henry up and down with a skeptical and disdainful glance. It was as if she was saying, "Your young master, with his delicate and pampered appearance, went to the slums to experience poverty? Yeah, right."
Tom, feeling cornered, was about to say something, but a sharp look from Henry made him shrink back and stay quiet.
Ye Yuvyuv didn't notice Henry's fleeting sharp glance as she continued to mock Tom for lying. Suddenly, Henry spoke up, "Wasn't that person supposed to look like a pretty boy?"
"Wait, what did you just say?" Ye Yuvyuv's eyes widened as she grabbed Henry's collar, "Repeat what you just said."
Her eyes were fierce, startling Tom, who was ready to jump in and protect his young master. Henry shot Tom a warning look and then turned to Ye Yuvyuv, puzzled, "Don't people here call men who look like they're straight out of a play, with skin as fair as a woman's, 'pretty boys'?"
As Ye Yuvyuv's eyes widened with curiosity, Henry continued, "I can't remember his name, but I do recall calling him Wen..."
Ye Yuvyuv listened intently to every word Henry said, becoming more certain that Henry had indeed met Wen Shixing. What Henry mentioned next about Wen Shixing made Ye Yuvyuv's heart skip a beat.
She blurted out excitedly, "You, you're the one who taught Wen Shixing music, the French nobleman who fell on hard times?"
Henry nodded with a smile, amused as he repeated, "A nobleman who fell on hard times!"
Henry thought to himself how fitting that description was, recalling the time when his grandfather, the Earl, had sent him to the slums to learn about life.
Meanwhile, Ye Yuvyuv was marveling at how small the world could be. Who would have thought that the man who taught Wen Shixing music in France, as she had discovered in her past life, would turn out to be Henry standing right in front of her?
Ye Yuvyuv suddenly felt an urge to laugh out loud, thinking that fate had indeed been kind to her. Ever since she saw that scoundrel Wen Shixing last night, her mind hadn't stopped racing with thoughts of how to deal with him.
She had spent the entire night, sleepless, pondering how to dig up Wen Shixing's past. Yet here was Henry, presenting her with a delightful surprise.
Fate had not been unkind to her, perhaps even reminding her not to repeat the mistakes of her past life. Ye Yuvyuv's face glowed with excitement, and she even considered whether she should offer thanks to the heavens for their kindness.
Henry was a bit dizzy from the girl's excitement but wisely refrained from asking too many questions. Instead, he stood by, appreciating the radiant glow of happiness on Ye Yuvyuv's face.
Henry thought the young girl before him seemed to glow when she was happy. It was a dazzling, colorful light, even more beautiful than a rainbow after a storm. Henry admired her silently, thinking she was a little angel who deserved a tall man to protect her. His ocean-blue eyes grew deeper and more distant.
Yuvyuv, excited by the news she had just heard, didn't notice the change in Henry's expression. If only she had noticed earlier, perhaps she could have avoided the terrifying complications that would haunt her memories for life.
Around noon, Yuvyuv generously invited Henry to a Western restaurant run by foreigners for some steak.
"How would you like your steak cooked, sir? And for the lovely lady?" The waiter, a handsome and cheerful young man, flashed a brilliant smile, revealing his sparkling teeth.
