C19 A Kiss in the Office

"Overstepping boundaries?"

"Yeah, overstepping. As the HR manager, I don't need to sign off on this anymore. You just need to get one of the other general managers to sign it. Looks like your manager is testing you." Fenng Yun sighed, glanced at the document, and asked, "How's it going in the HR department these days?"

"Great, really great. My colleagues in HR have been very friendly, and so far, there haven't been any issues."

"Good, since that's the case, take this document to the person on the third floor responsible for signing. After they sign, they'll bring a copy to me for my signature. That's the proper procedure. Keep your eyes open while working here." Fenng Yun offered this advice and then fell silent.

Tong Fu understood that HR manager Lee Li might be trying to see if she really knew Fenng Yun. If she did, Lee Li would immediately try to cozy up to her. If not, she might have some tricks up her sleeve. After all, Tong Fu was just a newcomer.

"Got it," Tong Fu said, preparing to leave with the document.

"Wait a minute!" Fenng Yun called out, smiling. "About the request you made last time, my people are keeping an eye on it. So, no need to worry."

"Thanks a lot."

"You should thank yourself for knowing how to seize the opportunity." Fenng Yun put down his work, walked over to Tong Fu, and chuckled softly. "I might be traveling for business in the next few days, so behave at home. Next time, I'll take you with me!"

Fenng Yun moved closer to Tong Fu until she was backed against the couch with nowhere to go. He wrapped his arm around her waist and kissed her. Breathing in her scent, Fenng felt a sense of ease wash over him.

This woman was like a drug, captivating him for so long. Tong Fu, he thought, was truly intriguing. Spending so much money to have a woman like her around wasn't a bad deal after all.

"I... I'm just an ordinary employee, so maybe..."

"Maybe what? When you're with me, it's on a personal level," Fenng said with a slight smile, releasing Tong Fu. She quickly made her escape.

Fenng chuckled softly, wiping his lips with one hand before returning to his work.

Following the instructions from Fenng's secretary, Tong Fu first sought out the manager for a signature and then headed to the finance department to collect the money. By the time she returned, two hours had passed.

Lee Li, the Human Resources Manager, had already packed her bags and was ready to leave, having waited a long time for Tong Fu.

"What took you so long? I gave you a simple task, and it took forever, huh?" Lee Li said angrily.

"Manager, I went to get Director Fenng's signature, but his secretary said the document needed to be signed by someone on the third floor. She also mentioned that I was overstepping by seeking his signature," Tong Fu explained, watching Lee Li's expression carefully.

Lee Li seemed to have thought this through completely. "Can't you be flexible? If I had Director Fenng's signature on this document, I could leave right away. But now that you've gone to the third-floor manager, my travel reimbursement will be delayed. Do you get it? You're useless!"

"I get it, I do. But I'm just a regular employee, how can I get special treatment? Besides, Director Fenng wouldn't give me the time of day. I already got scolded by his secretary when I was up there," Tong Fu replied, looking at Lee Li with a face full of grievance.

The HR department knew exactly who should sign that document. Everyone realized that Lee Li was just testing her.

"Alright, get back to your work. While I'm gone, if any of you slack off, you'll have me to deal with when I return!" With that, Lee Li hurried off to catch her flight.

Back at her desk, Tong Fu let out a sigh and turned to Luo Yue. "Hey, who usually handles this kind of thing?"

"See that person sitting closest to the manager's office?" Luo Yue pointed to the spot, and if Tong Fu remembered correctly, that was Xiaoxiao from Group A.

"Zhou Xiaoxiao is a tough cookie; most people don't dare to compete with her for these tasks. I think the manager was deliberately testing you this time," Luo Yue whispered.

"Oh, I see now," Tong Fu said. It seemed she needed to be more cautious around Xiaoxiao in the future.

That evening, because the Human Resources Manager, Lee Li, was out of town, the department left work on time without any delays. As a result, Tong Fu received a prompt text from Tongtong, insisting she join her at a bar that night.

Tong Fu chose to ignore it, but she ran into Tongtong downstairs.

"Hey, I've been waiting here for ages. You weren't planning on ditching me, were you? I thought we were friends!" Tongtong said, eyeing Tong Fu.

"Yeah, we're friends. But Fenng Yun told me yesterday that I should head home early and avoid questionable places. I got scolded for it! What can I do? Fenng Yun is always worried about me," Tong Fu replied with a look of helplessness, glancing at Tongtong.

Tongtong held back her frustration, maintaining a smile as if she didn't mind at all.

Meanwhile, Fenng Yun was in the car, waiting for the driver to take him to meet a client, when he unexpectedly witnessed the scene.

Mao Jiarong, who had recommended the event, was also there and couldn't help but admire the subtle exchange between the two women.

"Wow, those two women are really going at it here. Should I go call them over? If they come with us, things might get interesting," Mao Jiarong looked at Fenng Yun, seeking his opinion.

Fenng Yun thought for a moment and said, "No, let them head back and get some rest."

"Come on, let's all go together!" With that, Mao Jiarong got out of the car and approached Tong Fu and Mao Tongtong.

"I really don't want to go, plus I have a ton of work to do," Tong Fu said.

"Oh, you're busy, huh?" Mao Jiarong stood in front of Tong Fu and said, "Well, if Miss Tong Fu is busy, how about you, Tongtong? Why don't you come with us? I remember you love these kinds of events."

"What kind of event? Is Fenng Yun going too?" Mao Tongtong asked.

"Yeah, tonight I'm taking Fenng Yun to a charity gala to meet a client. We're all set and just about to leave. Are you coming or not?" Mao Jiarong asked.

"I'm in, of course. But do you think this outfit is fancy enough for a gala?" Mao Tongtong pondered.

"It's perfect! You're wearing a limited edition Chanel that just came out a few days ago. It's spot on!"
