C4 I Heard That You Suddenly Have a Fiancee

After dinner, Fenng Yun left the villa. Tong Fu's understanding of Fenng Yun mostly came from the news. Three years ago, after his father passed away unexpectedly, he returned from studying abroad to take over the family business, quickly amassing a fortune and landing in the top three of the city's richest list.

Feeling aimless, Tong Fu wandered around the villa, bored. Meanwhile, Fenng Yun was at a lively party in a bar, hosted by his friend Mao Jiarong, who had rented out the place for the occasion.

“Aren’t you bringing your fiancée?” Mao Jiarong asked, slinging an arm over Fenng Yun’s shoulder.

Fenng Yun brushed him off. “Your sister texted me saying she’s back today. If I brought her, who knows how your sister would treat her?”

“Come on, Fenng Yun, are you seriously that protective of her? Are you actually planning to marry her?” Mao Jiarong teased.

Fenng Yun remained silent, expressionless, as he took a sip of his drink.

“Is she really that pretty, or does she have a great figure? Or maybe she’s just... really good?” Mao Jiarong smirked mischievously.

Fenng Yun shoved a drink into his friend's face. “Just drink your drink and stop with those thoughts!”

“Alright, alright, you’ve got a new flame and forgot the old one. You heartless guy,” Mao Jiarong said, downing his drink in one go.

As the two were chatting, a striking figure appeared in front of them. Mao Jiarong glanced up and nudged the man beside her. "Well, I should go greet someone else. You... take care."

Fenng Yun frowned slightly, set down his glass, and patted the seat next to him. "Miss, please have a seat."

Mao Tongtong walked over and sat down next to Fenng Yun, her eyes sharp as she looked at him. "I heard you suddenly have a fiancée?"

"Yes, it's an engagement arranged by my father and her father when they were young," Fenng Yun replied honestly.

"What era are we in, still having arranged marriages? You never struck me as someone so old-fashioned. I can't believe you'd really marry a woman you don't love," Mao Tongtong said angrily, narrowing her eyes. "Or are you just using her to make me jealous?"

Fenng Yun sighed and gently patted her shoulder. "Tongtong, we've grown up together, and you know I'm a very filial person. I always listen to my father, and this union is his wish. I can't let him down."

"But you don't even like her! Marrying her would ruin your life," Mao Tongtong said, almost in tears, tugging at his sleeve. "The news about your illness was my fault. I acted impulsively. If you're marrying her just to spite me, I'm sorry, okay?"

"It's not your fault. I have to honor my father's wishes. Tongtong, you've always been understanding and kind. You get it, right?" Fenng Yun said with a somber expression.

Mao Tongtong's face twisted in distress as she fidgeted with her fingers, unsure of what to do.

In truth, Mao Tongtong was quite pretty and had a good figure, but she had a temper like a princess. Anyone who crossed her was in trouble, just like when Fenng Yun turned down her confession, and she plastered it all over the news for a week.

"Tongtong, have a drink," Fenng Yun offered her a glass.

Feeling disheartened, Mao Tongtong took the glass, glancing wistfully at the man beside her before sighing and taking a sip.

"Another one."

"Mr. Yun, from today on, we can only be friends. Cheers..."

"Mr. Yun, be honest with me. If there were no engagement, would you consider marrying me?"

"I need another drink..."

After several glasses of whiskey, Mao Tongtong was soon drunk.

Fenng Yun quickly pulled Mao Jiarong from the dance floor.

"Your sister's drunk. Take her to the hotel to rest. I need to head out too."

Mao Jiarong looked at his sister sprawled on the couch, feeling frustrated. "My sister's not bad, you know. Why not give her a chance?"

"The rabbit doesn't eat the grass by its own burrow; it's too familiar for me to make a move," Fenng Yun said, giving his friend a pat on the shoulder. "I'm heading out."

"Hey! Seriously? It's not even midnight and you're leaving already? Is the wife keeping a tight leash on you? You're not even married yet, and she's already this strict? I'd think twice before tying the knot if I were you!"

Fenng Yun just waved his hand dismissively and walked away.

Back at the villa, he found the place empty of any sign of her. Had she run off again?

In a flash, he turned on every light in the house and woke up the sleeping staff.

"Where's Tong Fu? I told you to keep an eye on her. Where did she go?" he demanded, his anger barely contained.

"Before we went to bed, Miss Tong went to her room to sleep," one of the staff replied.

"Pull up the surveillance footage immediately!" Fenng Yun ordered, hands on his hips, seething with anger.

"Yes, sir!"

The staff quickly scrambled to review the surveillance footage. But the cameras at the entrance showed no sign of anyone leaving. They checked the footage around the house as well, but still found no trace of her.

Everyone was on edge. How could a person just vanish into thin air?

They searched every corner of the house and reviewed all the surveillance footage, but there was no sign of her anywhere.

Fenng Yun's forehead was beaded with sweat as he stepped into the bedroom. The bed was perfectly made; she hadn't even laid down.

Where could she have gone?

He walked over to the balcony and looked down. Below was a patch of cacti. She couldn't be foolish enough to jump from the balcony, right?

Just then, he heard a rustling sound from inside the room.

He turned around, his sharp gaze sweeping across the room until it landed on the closet. He took a step forward and opened the closet door.

A woman was curled up in the corner, her eyes red and teary, looking utterly pitiful.

"What are you doing hiding in the closet? Aren't you coming out?" he asked, trying to suppress his anger.

He wanted to be mad, but seeing her like that, he couldn't bring himself to do it.

She tried to stand but quickly sat back down, looking at him with a pitiful expression. "My legs are so numb..."

"..."

He crouched down, lifted her out of the closet, and gently placed her on the bed. He then softly massaged her legs to help ease the numbness.

"Still numb?" he asked gently.

"Yeah, a little..." Her voice was hoarse from crying.

He patiently continued to massage her legs. "Next time you're upset, don't hide in the closet. My clothes are expensive. What if you wrinkle them?"

She pressed her lips together and said nothing.

"There's a pool in the backyard. When you're feeling down, you can go for a swim or something," he suggested, then paused. "Actually, no. What if you decide to drown yourself in the pool? Never mind, just keep crying in the closet."

"Don't worry, I won't do anything rash," she said, gritting her teeth. "At the very least, I need to make those who took over my home pay before I can rest."
