C13 You Have a Period
It was hard to tell if the heat was from their skin touching or if she was running a fever, but Lu Tineyuv could feel the temperature rising in his hands. Jiang Jingxi was already so feverish she started to babble incoherently.
“You jerk... I won’t let you get away with this...”
“Bastard... Don’t let me out...”
Lu Tineyuv: “...”
Hearing her mutter curses at him, Lu Tineyuv frowned deeply, watching her for a long moment before softening his tone, “Alright, when you wake up, I’ll give you that chance.”
They arrived at the hospital.
Liu Qing quickly got out of the car and opened the back door. Lu Tineyuv carried Jiang Jingxi out.
Just then, Liu Qing noticed something alarming and shouted, “Boss, why is there blood on your leg?”
Blood!
Lu Tineyuv’s expression darkened, and he rushed toward the hospital.
Before they even reached the entrance, his loud call for help echoed inside, “Someone, help! We need assistance!”
Three minutes later, Lu Tineyuv’s arrival caused a stir throughout the hospital. All the on-duty doctors showed up, not to mention the nurses.
In front of the emergency room, a doctor stopped Lu Tineyuv, looking troubled. “Sir, please leave the patient to us. It’s not appropriate for you to go in.”
Lu Tineyuv frowned, glancing down at the woman in his arms. Unpleasant memories surged in his mind, and he instinctively tightened his grip.
“Sir...” The doctor, seeing this, looked helplessly at Liu Qing, who was standing beside Lu Tineyuv.
Liu Qing was equally conflicted, having never seen his boss like this before. But time was of the essence, and saving her was the priority.
With that in mind, Liu Qing leaned closer to Lu Tineyuv’s ear and urged, “Boss, saving her is what matters. Listen to the doctor.”
Lu Tineyuv’s eyes flickered, catching sight of the nearby gurney. He finally let go, placing Jiang Jingxi on it.
However, he held onto her hand, bent down, and whispered in her ear, “Didn’t you say you wanted to settle the score with me? I’m waiting for you, so you have to come out of this!”
His voice was just the right volume, so everyone around could hear him. But who was Lu Tineyuv? He never paid attention to people or things he didn’t care about. After speaking, he stepped back.
The doctor noticed and quickly signaled to the nurse, "Hurry!" The nurse understood and promptly wheeled the patient inside.
Ten minutes later, the emergency room doors opened. The doctor emerged, looking conflicted, and said to Lu Tineyuv, "Don't worry, sir. The patient just has a fever. The high temperature made her a bit confused. I’ve personally given her a fever-reducing shot, and her fever should go down soon."
Hearing the doctor’s straightforward explanation, Lu Tineyuv frowned, "A fever? How does a fever cause bleeding?"
"Well..." The doctor hesitated, embarrassed, and looked down, "The patient just happened to start her period."
Period... Lu Tineyuv's expression froze.
"The nurse is inside helping her change clothes. She’ll be out soon. Once the medication takes effect, she should wake up," the doctor added. Seeing that Lu Tineyuv didn’t respond, he cautiously asked, "Sir, may I leave now?"
Lu Tineyuv snapped back to reality and nodded, "Yes."
The doctor left. Soon, Jiang Jingxi was wheeled out and taken to a hospital room.
Lu Tineyuv had just entered the room when two people rushed in from outside.
"Oh my, what happened? How did she end up in the hospital after just one day?" The woman who hurried to the bedside was Liu Meiyun, Jiang Jingxi’s mother. Her face was filled with anxiety. After all, she had sent her daughter off in good health yesterday, and now she was seeing her in a hospital bed. Anyone would find it hard to accept.
Lu Tineyuv looked serious, his eyes showing regret as he took the blame, "I'm sorry, it's all my fault!"
Liu Meiyun was extremely worried, but hearing Lu Tineyuv’s words, she glanced at him, her expression softening a bit.
After learning it was just a fever, the worry finally subsided. Still, the question lingered, "What happened? How does a simple fever cause someone to faint?"
Lu Tineyuv frowned, reflecting on his oversight, and sincerely admitted, "It's my fault. I should have given her a blanket."
"A blanket?" Ms. Liu was momentarily taken aback.
Lu Tineyuv hesitated, thinking about the incident of confining Jiang Jingxi, finding it hard to explain. However, his hesitant demeanor was noticed by Ms. Liu, who was eager for a son-in-law. Her imagination ran wild, picturing her daughter and this young man sharing a bed and fighting over the covers.
"Ah," Ms. Liu exclaimed excitedly, glancing at Jiang Jingxi's pale face on the hospital bed. Though she felt a pang of sympathy, she casually remarked, "Let's forget about it this time. Just be more careful next time."
Next time? There would be a next time?
Lu Tineyuv was a bit surprised but still felt guilty and sincerely admitted, "I didn't handle things well. It's my fault!"
Not handling things well...
Ms. Liu's eyes fell on Lu Tineyuv's bloodstained pants, and she nodded in agreement, offering some advice, "Just take it easy next time. Young people need to exercise some restraint!"
Lu Tineyuv's gaze was fixed on Jiang Jingxi's pale face, now free of fever, so he didn't catch Ms. Liu's words. He was thinking about how her current state was his doing.
At that moment, Boss Lu was ready to take responsibility, declaring firmly, "I will definitely see this through!"
What he meant was that he would take care of her until she was healthy and discharged. However, Ms. Liu interpreted his words differently and eagerly asked, "So, Mr. Lu, when do you plan to marry our Jingxi?"
“...” Lu Tineyuv looked up in surprise.
Their eyes met.
He clearly saw the excitement, urgency, and satisfaction in Ms. Liu's eyes.
Lu's mind was racing. He realized their conversation had been on completely different wavelengths.
“What’s going on? Didn’t Boss Lu say you’d take responsibility? Or are you...” Ms. Liu frowned as she noticed Lu staring at her with a complex expression. She assumed his promise to take responsibility was just talk and that he had no intention of marrying her daughter. Instantly, Ms. Liu was furious.
However, before she could finish her sentence, her husband pulled her aside and interjected, “Just say a little less, will you?”
Jiang stood nearby, silent but understanding. Seeing that Ms. Liu hadn’t caught on, he glanced seriously at Lu Tineyuv and said, “Come with me for a moment.”
With that, Jiang stepped outside, and Lu followed.
...
Jiang and Lu stayed outside for a good seven or eight minutes before returning. As soon as they entered, Jiang urged Ms. Liu, “Alright, we’ve seen our daughter, and she’s fine. You have work tomorrow, so let’s head home and rest.”
Jiang’s gaze then fell on Lu. “We’ll leave Jingxi in Mr. Lu’s care. He’ll take good care of her.”
Ms. Liu was reluctant to leave, but she did have work the next day. After several reminders, she reluctantly let Jiang lead her out.
“What did you say to Boss Lu just now? Why did you deliberately avoid me?”
“Don’t worry about it!”
“Why shouldn’t I worry? Our daughter is the one lying in there. How can I not be concerned?”
“...”
Outside the door, Ms. Liu and Jiang’s conversation could be heard. As they left, their voices gradually faded away until they were no longer audible.
In the hospital room, Lu Tineyuv's gaze rested on Jiang Jingxi's face. He watched her intently, not knowing how long he had been doing so. Then, he took out his phone and made a call. "You can start preparing now," he said.
