C11 The Threat of the Fish

Lu Xiaoxiao stuck out her little pink tongue and licked her lips. In her dream, she was still a free human, holding a big watermelon in one hand and an ice cream cone in the other. Even sweating under the sun felt wonderful.

Hmm... huh? What's that strong fishy smell?

Groggily opening her eyes, Lu Xiaoxiao saw a fish, gutted and raw, placed right in front of her. The smell was overpowering. It was truly disgusting, and Lu Xiaoxiao instantly felt more awake. Why did these people always want her to eat raw fish? Honestly, she wasn't a very good cat.

With a light leap, Lu Xiaoxiao jumped over the fish and lazily sprawled out under a tree. Fries, burgers, ice cream cones, big watermelons—here I come!

Cui'er noticed Lu Xiaoxiao waking up and not eating the fish, worried she might be hungry. She picked up the fish and chased after her. Hearing footsteps, Lu Xiaoxiao glanced up slightly. Oh no, not fish again!

Lu Xiaoxiao groaned internally. Living in a dream was so much better. Why did these people keep forcing her to face reality? It seemed fate had a peculiar way of treating her, choosing her to be in this time and place, and turning her into a cat. As a cat, she was disappointed in herself. Fish and mice were so unappealing. If she had to eat them, couldn't they at least be cooked? Even a simple boil would be better than raw fish.

She glanced at the fish, noticing the slight traces of blood on the flesh, and turned her head away in disgust. Just as she was about to make her escape, someone picked her up. Wait, why was she suddenly in the air?

"You little rascal, why won't you eat the fish? The Duke won't be back until later, and if you go hungry, it'll be hard on us," Cui'er said, holding Lu Xiaoxiao in one arm and the fish in the other, frowning.

Lu Xiaoxiao wore a gloomy expression; she just couldn't bring herself to eat the fish.

"Look at the sheen on this fish!" Cuier held the fish up to Lu Xiaoxiao's face, but all Lu Xiaoxiao saw were the lifeless eyes and the scales that hadn't been fully cleaned off.

"This is the freshest catch from the pond, and Sister Yue specially picked the plumpest one for you!" As the pungent smell of the fish got closer, Lu Xiaoxiao felt her fur standing on end. She was held too tightly to break free. Sorry, but desperate times call for desperate measures!

Sometimes, life throws you a curveball, and you have to take matters into your own hands. Lu Xiaoxiao bared her "fangs" and bit down on Cuier's hand. Finally, she escaped Cuier's grasp and darted into the bushes.

"Hey! You wild little cat! Not only do you refuse the fish, but you also bite! How infuriating!" Cuier yelped in pain, dropping the plate as the fish fell to the ground, now covered in dirt.

"What do we do now, oh no, no, no." Hearing the commotion, Yue ran out from Cang Xu's study, only to find Cuier in tears, blood dripping from her hand.

"Oh dear, what happened? Go get that bandaged up. Where's Tuanzi? Where did Tuanzi go?" Yue was flustered by the scene, her mind racing with the thought of being kicked out of the house by the Duke.

Lu Xiaoxiao knew she was in the wrong. Even if she was out of options, biting someone wasn't right. With no other choice, she decided to come out and admit her mistake, emerging from the bushes.

"There, Sister Yue, there it is!" Cuier pointed at Lu Xiaoxiao, who sat dejectedly on the ground. It seemed like every day was a new disaster, and she couldn't help but sigh.

The moonlight caught sight of the little bundle, and it was hard not to laugh. This cat was impossible to stay mad at. So, she ran over and scooped Lu Xiaoxiao into her arms.
