C18 The Fake Cat and the Group
"The boss has real talent, capturing my son and this candy figure so perfectly!" July chuckled while admiring the sugar painting.
"Oh, it's nothing, just got inspired and made it. Saw you folks from a distance and thought it was interesting. It's my first time seeing someone strolling the market with a cat," the man modestly waved his hand.
Cang Xu looked at the painting with a thoughtful expression, saying nothing. Finally, he placed a silver coin on the man's table. "It truly is good, but it won't last long."
"Whoa, sir, this candy figure only costs five coins. I can't change this big coin for you. I'm just a small business owner, you know. You're making it hard for me," the man panicked, having never seen someone pay so generously for a candy figure. He quickly stood up and tried to return the silver coin to Cang Xu.
"I'm buying the art, not just the candy. Plus, I like it," Cang Xu insisted, placing the coin back on the table. "Make me another one, this time of the cat," he said, pointing to Lu Xiaoxiao.
Huh? Lu Xiaoxiao glanced at Cang Xu, thinking one was enough to eat. Why ask for another, especially one of her? This person was truly unpredictable.
"Alright, as long as you like it. But taking such a big coin makes me feel a bit guilty. Next time you want some, just bring it along, and it's on the house!" The man laughed as he crafted the sugar painting, glancing at Lu Xiaoxiao.
Once he got the candy, Cang Xu handed the cat-shaped sugar painting to Lu Xiaoxiao and started eating the other one himself—a stoic face and a dumpling.
Lu Xiaoxiao eyed the stoic face and began nibbling on the sugar painting. Eating a candy version of herself felt strange.
"Ugh~" Finishing the sugar painting was Lu Xiaoxiao's limit. The market trip was satisfying, but she was really stuffed.
Walking ahead, Lu Xiaoxiao could barely move, feeling like the food she just ate might come back up any moment. How did she not feel full earlier, and now she's suddenly stuffed? Blame it on her slow realization. If only she hadn't indulged so much.
Cang Xu watched Lu Xiaoxiao wobbling ahead and couldn't help but chuckle. So, even a glutton has its limits, huh?
"Floating again?" Lu Xiaoxiao was lifted once more, and Cang Xu looked at the little cat in his arms. "Just stay put, alright? Don't push yourself. You're too chubby to walk."
What? Chubby? Where am I chubby? Does this stone-faced guy just have to insult someone every day to feel good? Do I look like I'm easy to bully?
Lu Xiaoxiao struggled a bit, pretending to be angry as she glared at Cang Xu.
"Trying to escape, huh?" Cang Xu held onto Lu Xiaoxiao's little cat legs, but no matter how much she kicked, she couldn't break free.
Ha, this little fluffball, is my embrace really that uncomfortable?
"We've been out all day, and I didn't get enough to eat. Should I call the kitchen?"
"Meow!"
"Call the kitchen." Cang Xu looked at Lu Xiaoxiao with amusement, finding it hard to resist teasing her.
"Meow! Meow!" No! I don't want to hear it! In that moment, Lu Xiaoxiao felt utterly useless, lacking any backbone.
In the end, she had no choice but to submit to Cang Xu's authority, nestling obediently in his arms. Honestly, being full and carried around wasn't so bad after all.
Cang Xu's embrace felt just like the rocking cradle from childhood. She wondered how her parents were doing and if they worried about her absence. Exhausted from the day's antics, Lu Xiaoxiao fell asleep in Cang Xu's arms.
When they returned home, half the lights were already out. The day had flown by so quickly, and despite a few minor hiccups, the overall mood was good.
Cang Xu entered the room, gently placed Lu Xiaoxiao on the bed, and instructed Yue'er to tidy up the cage at the door before heading off to bathe and change.
Dressed in loose silk pajamas, Cang Xu came back in, sat by the bed, and gently stroked the curled-up Lu Xiaoxiao.
