C7 Cat Demon

"Dumpling!!!"

Lu Xiaoxiao huddled in the corner of the table, trembling. Oh no, this time she was really going to die! What should she do? She had just gotten here and now she was going to die in this ancient time.

"If you don't come over here, I'll have you chopped up right now!" The voice was cold as ice.

Lu Xiaoxiao shivered in fear, covering her head. The next moment, she was picked up and placed on the table.

"You're getting bolder and bolder..." Lu Xiaoxiao looked at him pleadingly, "Meow—!" I know I was wrong.

"As punishment, no dinner for you tonight!" Cang Xu stared at her. Without some discipline, she wouldn't understand the seriousness of the situation.

"Meow!" As long as she wasn't going to be killed, that was fine.

Cang Xu's eyes flickered slightly, and suddenly he asked, "Do you know how to read?"

Lu Xiaoxiao nodded timidly. Of course she could read; she was a human after all, and she could write too.

"Are you a cat spirit?!" Cang Xu's eyes lit up.

Lu Xiaoxiao quickly shook her head. A cat spirit! Weren't ancient monsters burned at the stake? She absolutely couldn't let anyone think she was a demon.

Not a demon? Cang Xu raised an eyebrow, sensing something suspicious. He was a bit skeptical.

Lu Xiaoxiao's heart raced as she looked at the person in front of her. Please don't think she's a demon; she didn't want to be burned alive.

Just then, Li's voice came from outside the door, along with a woman's. It seemed someone had arrived.

Cang Xu called out loudly, "Li, who's outside?"

Li's respectful voice came through, "Your Grace, it's the Vice Consort."

Cang Xu's brow twitched slightly. Bai Yanling was sent by the Prime Minister, essentially a spy in the Duke's residence. His eyes darkened, and just as he was about to send her away, he glanced at the still-guilty Lu Xiaoxiao on the table. Changing his mind, he suddenly said, "Let her in!"

Li lifted her gaze slightly, surprised that the Duke allowed her to enter. She stepped aside to let Bai Yanling pass. Bai Yanling cast a disdainful glance at Li, huffed, and walked in.

"My Lord, I've heard you've been busy with work lately, so I made you some bird's nest soup to help nourish you," Bai Yanling said with a sweet tone.

"Just leave it there," Cang Xu replied, his face expressionless.

Bai Yanling placed the soup on the table but showed no intention of leaving. She glanced at the Duke's face, which, as usual, revealed nothing of his mood.

"Is there anything else?" Cang Xu asked coldly.

Feigning surprise, Bai Yanling looked at the small figure on the table and exclaimed, "Oh, isn't this the little kitten from the other day?" She had noticed the small creature on Cang Xu's table as soon as she entered, though its color was indistinguishable. The study was a mess, confirming her disdainful thoughts about the creature. Her eyes flickered with disgust.

Lu Xiaoxiao looked up at the woman before her, finding her somewhat familiar. Oh... she remembered now. It was the woman from that day in Cang Xu's room, the one who had put on quite a show. Her gaze involuntarily drifted downward to the woman's ample chest. No wonder Cang Xu was interested; any man would find it hard to refuse. Impressive!

Just as she was thinking this, a large hand covered her head. Cang Xu's hand could easily envelop her small head, and soon she was subjected to another round of merciless teasing.

Seeing that Cang Xu remained silent, Bai Yanling continued in a coy voice, "My Lord, the kitten is quite mischievous, turning your study into such a state. I've heard these creatures can be quite intelligent, and I find it rather charming. You're busy with your duties and may not have time to care for this little one. Why not let me take care of it for you?" As she spoke, she leaned her soft body against Cang Xu, her hands gently massaging his shoulders.
