C1 Sent to the Army

Cang Ji, three hundred and twenty-five years later.

Lu Hongwen, the Marquis of Zhenbei, brought his son Lu Yuanxi to pacify the war in the north. Before he could return to the capital, he received an imperial edict from Emperor Cang Ji.

“The Emperor decrees that Marquis of Zhenbei Lu Hongwen and his son, Lu Yuanxi, have colluded with the enemy and betrayed the country. Their crimes are to be executed and their nine generations of family should be exterminated. However, since they have done so many meritorious deeds, I cannot bear to kill them. I am sending them to the army. Their family will be sent to the palace as slaves. This is the imperial edict!”

The imperial edict official closed the edict and looked up at the shocked Lu father and son who were kneeling on one knee. The disdain in his eyes was not concealed at all.

“Marquis Lu, quickly receive the edict and thank the Emperor!”

As he spoke, he weighed the edict in his hand.

“Marquis, there is probably some misunderstanding. Can we return to the capital and meet the Emperor?”

Lu Yuanxi frowned. He could not believe that the Lu family, which had been loyal to the Emperor for generations, would end up with ‘colluding with the enemy and betraying the country’!

“You are a sinner, yet you still want to meet the Emperor?” The imperial edict official sneered and said, “Marquis Lu, we are all smart people. The Lu family has been loyal to the Emperor for generations. How can you not understand the way of a loyal subject?”

Lu Hongwen’s face was ashen, and his cheeks were tight.

He pulled Lu Yuanxi up and looked down at the imperial edict official. He said, “The people of the Lu family are loyal and courageous. No matter if they are men or women, they have never been soft. If the Emperor wants me dead, I have to die. The war in the north has been wiped out. Please return to the palace and report to the Emperor. There is a cause for everything in the world, and this cause is to be paid for.”

Lu Hongwen took off his helmet and armor after he finished talking.

“Far away.”

Lu Yuanxi didn’t move at all. Lu Hongwen called out.

Lu Yuanxi stared at the Duke of Decree with her eyes. The anger in her eyes made the Duke of Decree’s legs shake.

“The Emperor is useless and incompetent. He doesn’t know how to lead the country. He doesn’t deserve the praise of the people. He is venting his anger on the Lu Family. Today, I, Lu Yuanxi, am going to say this. If the Lu Family dies, he won’t be able to sit on the throne for long!”

“Plop!” The Duke of Decree fell to the ground.

His legs were still shaking. He looked at Lu Yuanxi and swallowed hard.

It was no exaggeration to say that in that moment, he saw the killing intent in Lu Yuanxi’s eyes. It was a strong killing intent.

“Yuanxi.”

Lu Yuanxi turned around and looked at Lu Hongwen. She said in a deep voice, “Father, you still can’t tell? The Lu Family is so powerful. He sent people to the army, but he didn’t know how many assassins were waiting on the road. If you don’t say it now, do you want to leave with regrets?”

Lu Hongwen was silent for a while. He only sighed and said, “The heart of the king is hard to predict.”

After the Duke of Decree recovered, he got up from the ground with his hands and feet. He was still holding the imperial edict.

“He’s rebelled! He’s really rebelled! You treacherous sons and traitors dare to look down on the imperial power! Come! Come!”

The Duke of Decree’s shrill voice was heard from the main tent. The deputy general who was waiting outside the tent hurried into the tent.

“General?”

The lieutenant was stunned when he saw Lu Hongwen disarm himself.

The Duke of the Imperial Decree’s orchid fingers were shaking and even his voice was trembling.

“Arrest! Arrest these two traitors and lock them up!”

The lieutenant’s pupils shrank and he turned around to look at Lu Hongwen and Lu Yuanxi.

The war in the north had calmed down. He thought that the Cang Ji Emperor was giving out the decree to reward the Lu family. Who would have thought…
