C120 Tang Bing Caught the Zombies and Taught Her How to Do It He Took the Valuable Things First!(2)
"Remember this feeling!" Tang Bing gripped Sun Meng's hand tightly, and with a sudden surge of strength, he guided her in a fierce sword slash that cleaved the zombie's head in two.
"Ahh!" Sun Meng, who had just been basking in the warmth of Tang Bing's embrace, was now screaming in horror at the sight of the mangled zombie head before her.
"Shut up!" Tang Bing quickly clamped his hand over her mouth. "Do you want to draw more zombies?"
Sun Meng's face drained of color as she shook her head, her grip on the iron sword loosening until it clattered to the ground.
Zhao Dagang let go of the zombie he had killed and focused his full weight on pinning another beneath his foot. "Come on! Miss Qin, it's your turn!"
Qin Mengli, ashen-faced, suddenly spun around and doubled over, retching.
Whether it was a chain reaction or not, Sun Meng, who had been fine moments before, now wrenched away from Tang Bing's grasp and dashed to the side, heaving violently.
Zhao Dagang looked over at Tang Bing with a resigned expression, and Tang Bing sighed, shaking his head.
Once the two women had nearly emptied their stomachs, Tang Bing approached Qin Mengli and gestured toward the subdued zombie. "Quick! Finish the job. We still have stuff to move!"
"Ugh!" The sight of the zombie sent Qin Mengli into another bout of vomiting.
Tang Bing, at a loss, retrieved a bottle of mineral water from his virtual backpack and handed it to her. "Can't handle it? Breakfast was a waste then! I'll give you one more chance. If you can't do it..."
"I can do it!" Qin Mengli interrupted, quickly turning to seize Tang Bing's hand. Her face was a mask of revulsion; the sight of the exploded zombie head and the accompanying stench were almost too much to bear.
But the disappointment in Tang Bing's voice triggered a sense of urgency in her. She had already strained their relationship with previous events, and another letdown might mean losing any future opportunities.
With that in mind, she forced herself not to dwell on the zombie's gruesome appearance, holding her breath to keep the stench at bay.
Seeing Qin Mengli struggle to contain herself, the frost on Tang Bing's face thawed a bit. "What are we waiting for then? Chop! Aim for its head and chop it off!"
Qin Mengli closed her eyes, gripping the sword with both hands as she mentally prepared herself. Finally, with determination, she opened her eyes and swung down forcefully.
But her hands shook so violently that she missed her target!
"Still not enough?" Tang Bing felt a twinge of disappointment, though he understood that for most girls, it wasn't easy. They needed time to adapt and train.
Sensing Tang Bing's displeasure, Qin Mengli felt a renewed sense of urgency. She paused, then met his gaze, "Tang Bing! Help me out here!"
"Help you?" Tang Bing regarded her coolly. "I'm already helping as much as I can! The zombie is restrained; just chop it down. What more do you need?"
Qin Mengli bit her alluring lip and cast a furtive glance at Sun Meng, whispering, "How... How did you help Sun Meng earlier?"
Tang Bing caught on, though he was unaccustomed to such a request from Qin Mengli.
"Is that not okay?" she asked, sensing his hesitation and feeling a hint of dejection.
After a moment's silence, Tang Bing moved to stand behind her.
Feeling his protection and his calloused hands enveloping hers, Qin Mengli's fear and turmoil eased somewhat. "Thank you... This feels much better."
Her words left Tang Bing momentarily lost in thought. How wonderful it would have been if she had treated him this way before the apocalypse?
Shaking off the reverie, he gripped her hands firmly, steadying the iron sword to prevent it from shaking. "Ready now?"
"Just a second! I need to catch my breath..." Qin Mengli panted with nervousness, avoiding the sight of the zombies below.
"Look at it!" Tang Bing instructed gently, noticing her avoidance.
Their faces were inches apart, causing an unexpected flutter of panic in Qin Mengli's chest, her face aflame. She had never been this close to any man, and the warmth of Tang Bing's breath on her neck was enough to weaken her knees.
Tang Bing noticed that Qin Mengli's body temperature was slightly elevated, but didn't detect anything else amiss. "Ready?"
After a few deep breaths, Qin Mengli nodded firmly, "I'm ready!"
"Good!" With that, Tang Bing guided her hands, helping her wield the iron sword to cleave through the zombie's skull.
The moment he released her hands, Qin Mengli dropped the sword and spun around, desperately retching. Sun Meng, barely recovered from her own bout of nausea, was triggered into a fresh wave of vomiting by the sight.
Was it really that bad? Tang Bing watched the two women in disbelief, wondering why they were reacting so violently.
Zhao Dagang's face was a picture of resignation as he mused, "When Bing and I first killed zombies, we didn't have such an extreme reaction. Women really do have smaller courage reserves."
Despite the setbacks, Qin Mengli and Sun Meng had managed to make their first kill in this post-apocalyptic world. They might have been a mess afterward, but it was still an achievement. Tang Bing now faced the challenge of helping them conquer their fear and revulsion to become capable female fighters.
Tang Bing had hoped Qin Mengli and Sun Meng could lend a hand with moving furniture, but upon reaching the store, they were still in the car, clutching their vomit bags, looking utterly miserable.
Feeling a twinge of sympathy, Tang Bing decided to leave them in the car while he and Zhao Dagang went inside to pick out necessities.
"Wow!" Zhao Dagang marveled upon entering, his eyes wide at the array of furniture samples. "Bing, this furniture is gorgeous!"
"Cut the awe," Tang Bing shot back, glancing at him. "Time's ticking, and we're not here just for furniture shopping."
"Got it!" Zhao Dagang replied, nodding. "Are we taking all the furniture then?"
"We can't haul that much; we've got a bus, not a freight truck," Tang Bing explained with a hint of frustration. "We need the essentials – dining tables, chairs, wardrobes, and dressing tables. They're must-haves, especially with all the women in our group. The rest can wait. We'll come back for them. If we do it in batches, even the bus can handle the load."
"I'm all ears!" Zhao Dagang spun around with excitement. "Bing, which table should we grab? I can't tell the difference between them to save my life, so I have no idea which one looks best!"
"You think I have a clue?" Tang Bing gave him a look. "Just check the price tag! We'll take the priciest one since it's all free anyway!"
"Yeah! Let's live it up like the rich folks—for once, we'll have the most expensive furniture, stay in the grandest rooms, drink the finest wines, and smoke the priciest cigars!" A joyful grin spread across Zhao Dagang's face.
"Cut the chatter!" Tang Bing pressed. "Get a move on and check the prices. We need to decide what furniture we're taking with us!"
"Bing, this table's tagged at 100,000 yuan. Looks like it's the top of the line!" Zhao Dagang quickly pointed out a round table with a classic design and quality material. "And it's designed to be taken apart, which makes it easy to transport! Can you believe a table can go for 100,000 yuan? I couldn't save that much in years!"
"100,000?" Tang Bing chuckled, shaking his head. "You think a table for 100,000 yuan is steep?"
"Isn't it?" Zhao Dagang's eyes bulged. "100,000 yuan! That's more than enough to get married back in our village!"
"I've heard that some custom pieces made from special materials can fetch over a million, even more!" Tang Bing informed him. "Now those are what you call pricey!"
"Good heavens! I just can't wrap my head around it. It's all just made of wood, right? Why on earth is it so costly? A table for a million could build you a mansion back home! Trading a stack of lumber for a luxury estate? What kind of world do we live in?"
"Not all wood is created equal!" Tang Bing shook his head. "But who cares now? No matter how expensive, we're taking it for free, aren't we?"
"You've got that right! It's the end of the world—money's worthless! No matter the cost, things are meant to be used, right? We should be the ones to look after treasures like these! Bing, if we come across furniture worth millions in the future, let's haul it back too. The world's ending, so why not live a little and enjoy the high life?"
"Alright!" Tang Bing chuckled heartily. "We should enjoy life when we can! But enough chit-chat, let's get a move on and haul this furniture out!"
"You got it!"
