C124 At Noon They Took a Short Break and They Killed the Zombies Alone(2)

"I figure that eventually, even if Brother Bing keeps mum, we'll figure it out on our own!" Zhao Dagang declared. "Plus, if Brother Bing does have a secret to gaining superpowers, he'll share it with us when the time's right."

The two women fell silent, simply taking refuge in the car and quietly observing the distance through the window.

Tang Bing had laid out an extensive array of barbed fences on the barren ground—over a hundred of them, all crafted from timber he had gathered during a five-day solo survival stint, chopping wood in his spare time.

Originally, he intended to position these fences outside the base's perimeter wall. However, with plans to upgrade the brick wall to a more durable concrete one and considering the low likelihood of zombie encounters in the remote wilderness, he opted to deploy them now.

After all, living in the wild meant he could chop wood whenever necessary to amass enough lumber for future construction.

Despite the barbed fences in place, Tang Bing remained concerned about eliminating all the zombies at the cement factory. So, after some thought, he strategically positioned numerous gas tanks at intervals not too far away. Should a significant number of zombies breach the fences, he would draw them toward the gas tanks and detonate them. Even if the blast didn't kill them, the ensuing fire would surely burn them alive.

Once the traps were set, he sprang into action, leveraging his speed to dart across the cement factory grounds. He honed in on the zombies with his sensory abilities, drawing them out with his shouts, leading them on a merry chase. The horde grew from a handful to dozens, and eventually, he herded hundreds of zombies, sweeping through every corner of the factory grounds in a massive, tumultuous pursuit.

With his speed, it was a breeze—like child's play to him, leading the zombies in a wild run.

The trio inside the car watched in rapt attention as Tang Bing methodically corralled the zombies, eventually marshaling a vast army in pursuit. His ease in managing the feat only deepened their sense of wonder and respect for his capabilities.

Tang Bing, with his zombie entourage in tow, made a beeline for the barbed fence zone. He could weave and dodge with agility, but the zombies trailing him lacked such finesse. In their relentless chase, he used drift-like maneuvers to funnel them relentlessly into the barbed fences.

Hundreds of zombies stumbled onto the barbed fence, the majority halted in their tracks, skewered by the wooden spikes. The chaos escalated as they trampled over their fallen comrades!

Tang Bing watched with a thrill as the zombies perished, impaled and trampled by the fence. His tactic was proving to be devastatingly effective. The mindless horde, driven solely by instinct, continued to surge forward into the deadly barrier. Even as the sharp stakes pierced their skulls, they relentlessly pursued Tang Bing without a second thought.

But there was one drawback. Tang Bing's only regret was that he earned no experience from zombies killed by traps or bombs. If only these hundreds of zombies yielded experience, he could have shot up four or five levels—now that would have been exhilarating!

Still, one can't have it all. He simply wasn't capable of claiming all the experience in this situation.

As expected, the barbed fence had claimed the lives of at least a hundred zombies, yet more than half remained in hot pursuit. The fence was now a ruin under the relentless zombie onslaught, so Tang Bing led the remaining horde toward the gasoline tanks. He swiftly created a gap between them, then lay in wait. Drawing his silenced pistol, he took aim at a gasoline tank.

"Boom! Boom! Boom!" The tanks erupted in a chain of explosions, sending zombie limbs scattering in a gruesome spectacle.

Inside the vehicle, Qin Mengli and Sun Meng shielded their faces, eyes shut tight, unwilling to witness the carnage any longer. Zhao Dagang, however, watched with fascination, murmuring to himself, "So this is another way to take down zombies, huh?"

With the barbed fence and gasoline tank traps behind them, the zombie horde had been decimated, leaving only a few dozen lucky ones still in pursuit of Tang Bing.

Undeterred by the absence of traps, Tang Bing was ready. He brandished his mace, widening the gap before turning to face the oncoming threat.

The swiftest zombie soon met his gaze. Without hesitation, Tang Bing brought the mace down with lethal precision, dispatching it instantly. He continued his assault, methodically striking down the fastest zombies that had broken away from the pack.

Before the horde of zombies could catch up, he spun around and sprinted away, widening the gap once more. Circling the open ground, he scattered the pursuing zombies during their chase. Seizing the moment, he methodically eliminated the stragglers.

Employing this tactic, he spent a grueling hour until every last zombie lay vanquished. Exhausted, Tang Bing collapsed, his body drenched in sweat as if caught in a downpour, his limbs heavy with fatigue.

Inside the car, Zhao Dagang, Qin Mengli, and Sun Meng had begun to disembark one by one as Tang Bing whittled the zombie numbers down to a mere dozen.

Qin Mengli and Sun Meng approached only after the fray had ended, while Zhao Dagang had pitched in, taking down three or four zombies himself.

Surveying the carnage, Zhao Dagang couldn't hide his admiration. "Bing, man, you're incredible! You've got my utmost respect!"

Both Qin Mengli and Sun Meng kept their distance from Tang Bing, the ground between them littered with zombie corpses. The sight was too repulsive for them to come any closer.

After some rest, Tang Bing regained his strength. His earlier and most recent kills had propelled him to level 15, earning him five skill points.

He promptly invested two points into the wooden chest, a much-needed item for storing supplies, ready to be sorted upon his return.

He had planned to allocate the remaining three points to Agility, but a glance at the skill unlock menu revealed that a generator required exactly three points. After pondering, he chose to unlock it.

Electricity was indispensable to humanity! Once the city's power stations fell to the zombies, private power generation became crucial.

Tang Bing knew he couldn't build a generator himself, and neither could his teammates. But with enough materials, he could easily craft one unlocked with skill points.

With the generator, numerous electrical appliances would become useful. Rice cookers, ovens, and refrigerators would greatly ease the workload for Lin Leyan and Sun Meng. And they could even install electric lights in their rooms, sparing them the hassle of candles or flashlights in the dark.

"Phew!" Tang Bing panted heavily, "That was exhausting! I said we could take out all the zombies at the cement plant, now do you believe me?"

"Believed, totally believed! You've got my utmost admiration, Bing!" Zhao Dagang wrapped Tang Bing in a joyful embrace, "Following you was definitely the right call!"

"Okay, okay! Let go of me!" Tang Bing laughed, pushing him away gently, "I'm not a beauty, what's with the hug?"

"Hehe~" Zhao Dagang scratched his head sheepishly, "So, are we heading home now?"

"What's the hurry?" Tang Bing, having caught his breath and regained some energy, stood up and surveyed the litter of zombie corpses, "We've got one last task! Help me stack these bodies; I'm going to burn them. If we leave them here, they'll start to stink and could even breed more toxic bacteria. We've got to come back here to haul goods, so safety comes first!"

"Got it!" Zhao Dagang nodded earnestly, "I'm on it!"

Unable to approach, Qin Mengli and Sun Meng had no choice but to head back to the car to wait.

Once Tang Bing had his strength back, he and Zhao Dagang got to work moving the bodies. Together, they managed to create a veritable mountain of corpses.

"Bing, we're all set! Time to cremate them!" Zhao Dagang announced, dusting off his hands, "Quick, grab the gasoline!"

"Right!" Tang Bing fetched the gas can, ready to douse the pile, when a sudden noise made him pause, "Hold on!"

"What's up, Bing?" Zhao Dagang looked at him, confused by the sudden interruption.

"Just a sec!" Tang Bing sprinted off into the distance and soon returned driving an electric tricycle.

"What's that for?" Zhao Dagang gawked.

"I spotted it earlier while drawing the zombies away. We're taking this electric tricycle with us," Tang Bing explained.

"But Bing, once the battery's dead, we can't recharge it!" Zhao Dagang pointed out, still puzzled.

"I've got it figured out," Tang Bing assured him with a smile, "Besides, I only need it for one trip. Come on, help me load some of these bodies onto the trike!"

"Why?" Zhao Dagang asked, still not understanding.

"Less questions, more carrying!" Tang Bing instructed, "I have a use for them when we get back!"
