C144 The Plan Went Smoothly and He Saw Survivors Again!(2)
Tang Bing swiftly made his way into the flour mill, where, true to his expectations, bags of flour were stacked high in the corner. He loaded two-thirds of the flour into his virtual backpack and hauled the remaining third to the second floor. With his iron sword, he slashed open the bags and frantically scattered flour until the entire space was engulfed in a white haze.
Next, he strategically placed an assortment of firecrackers and fireworks throughout the mill, dousing them with copious amounts of gasoline. He trailed the gasoline from inside the mill to the road, extending it far beyond his perception, ensuring a lengthy fuse.
Everything was set. He just needed to return and activate the broadcast, which would sound off one by one, guiding the zombies from the north to the east, then from the east to the south, right towards the flour mill.
The broadcast would keep running, and as the zombies clustered on the town's southern end, Tang Bing would ignite the gasoline trail from a safe distance.
The gasoline would blaze a path straight to the mill at an alarming rate. The flames would instantly set off the gasoline, triggering a simultaneous explosion of the firecrackers inside. The intense heat would detonate the gunpowder within, turning the factory into a colossal bomb.
The firecrackers' blasts would draw the zombies into the mill, maximizing the damage inflicted upon them. And finally, the dispersed flour would create a devastating dust explosion, amplifying the assault.
This meticulously orchestrated attack was poised to annihilate an astonishing number of zombies. Tang Bing couldn't help but admire his own ingenuity. Indeed, with a bit of brainpower, anything was possible!
Yet, there was one irksome detail: this method of killing zombies yielded no experience points. How he wished it did! Imagine the levels he could gain, the skill points he could allocate after dispatching such a horde.
Once he safely returned to the town hall's broadcast room, Tang Bing wasted no time in executing his meticulously crafted plan.
First and foremost, Tang Bing needed to reassure Zhao Dagang, Qin Mengli, and Liang Hui that his plan was unfolding without a hitch, so they wouldn't worry.
The horn strapped to his back could carry sound a considerable distance, and it was likely that Zhao Dagang and the others could hear it, albeit faintly.
Given that it was the apocalypse, the usual cacophony of factories and storefronts in the town had long since ceased, and the roads were devoid of car engines. Even the softest horn blast could travel unimpeded to its intended listeners in the absence of competing noise.
Taking the initiative, Tang Bing spoke directly into the microphone at the northern loudspeaker: "Hello? This is the town government broadcasting room. I'm Tang Bing! The operation is proceeding as planned. I'm about to start drawing the zombies away, leading them towards the southern part of town. Everyone, please remain calm. Once the plan is successful, I'll come to regroup with you immediately!"
As Tang Bing anticipated, Zhao Dagang and the other two, positioned at the base of the mountain, heard the broadcast loud and clear. The town's surrounding mountains trapped the broadcast's sound, causing it to reverberate and travel even further.
"It's Bing! Bing has really made it into town!" Zhao Dagang, who had been waiting for over an hour, fraught with worry, suddenly perked up with energy.
"Fantastic!" Qin Mengli and Liang Hui also showed signs of relief.
"Now, I'm going to draw the zombies towards the eastern part of town before heading south. When you hear a massive explosion, start your car and drive towards the town entrance. I'll join up with you as quickly as I can!" Tang Bing continued to direct them through the broadcast, "Just stay put for now!"
"Bing, we got it!" Zhao Dagang, careful not to raise his voice too much, poked his head out and spoke softly towards the direction of the town.
After repeating the message several times, Tang Bing felt confident they had received it. He then switched off the microphone and blasted the loudest rock music he could find, cranking all the speakers up to their maximum volume.
Sure enough, the sudden blare of the loudspeakers drew both the mutant and ordinary zombies at the town entrance, who, devoid of any intelligence, found the noise irresistibly compelling and began to march eastward.
While the rock music thundered from the northern speakers, Tang Bing sprinted to the top of the Town Hall building, where he used binoculars to survey the distant scene.
Thankfully, the height of the town hall provided a clear vantage point to monitor the zombie horde's movements.
Once they had clustered near the northern loudspeaker, Tang Bing wasted no time in heading down to switch the speakers. He silenced the one nearest to their current location and cranked up the volume on the eastern loudspeaker.
As anticipated, the zombies shuffled en masse, proving the tactic successful.
Tang Bing kept a watchful eye through his binoculars, continuously adjusting the loudspeakers, slowly herding them southward.
After an intense hour, he successfully corralled the entire zombie mass beneath the southern loudspeaker.
He checked the car battery's charge level before keeping the southern loudspeaker blaring.
The relentless noise drew scores of zombies from the town, not just those led by the mutant zombies. Once Tang Bing confirmed their convergence, he sprang into action.
He dashed out of the building, swiftly exiting the town hall to make his way to the nearest gas station.
Stepping out, he was met by several zombies charging at him. He wondered why they hadn't been lured away and readied his mace for combat.
To his astonishment, as he approached, these "zombies" began to speak.
"Friend! Was it you speaking in the town hall's broadcast room? We're survivors who were passing by. Hearing someone, we came immediately to find you!" The leader brandished a blood-stained crowbar, clearly having dispatched zombies himself.
"Hold it!" Tang Bing was taken aback to encounter survivors here but kept his mace at the ready, eyeing them warily, "Are you infected?"
"No!" the leader replied urgently, "We're all unharmed. We've covered ourselves in zombie blood and guts to stay undetected. How many are with you? Where are you settled? We could join forces!"
"How many are you?" Tang Bing remained cautious, not quick to trust.
"Just us," the leader responded, "only three of us left. I'm Jiang Feng, he's Liu Chen, and she's Xu Rou!"
Tang Bing's brow furrowed slightly; there was no time to waste. He quickly decided, "Listen up, I don't have time to sort out allies from enemies right now! If you're serious about joining forces, then head to the town government building and wait for me. Once I wrap up here, I'll come and discuss things with you in detail."
"What are you up to? We can lend a hand!" Jiang Feng, the group's leader, offered. "I'm a former soldier. You can trust me with any task."
Tang Bing shot him a wary look. "Sorry, I can't trust you at the moment. You either wait for me at the town government building, or we go our separate ways as if we never crossed paths."
Realizing Tang Bing was not open to negotiation, the trio of survivors exchanged glances. Jiang Feng spoke up, "Fine. But remember, if you run into trouble, we're here to help."
Maintaining a cautious distance, Tang Bing circled around them and departed swiftly, heading for the nearest gasoline spill.
With deliberate care, he extracted a lighter, ignited a piece of paper, and tossed it into the spilled gasoline on the road.
Whoosh! The flames roared to life, racing along the trail of gasoline at an alarming pace.
Moments later, a massive explosion erupted from the south, quickly followed by the crackling sounds of firecrackers and fireworks, and then several more booming blasts. The ground beneath Tang Bing's feet trembled with the force of the detonations.
"Success..." Tang Bing murmured, gazing at the fiery spectacle in the sky, the continuous explosions music to his ears. The plan had worked, and a weight lifted from his shoulders.
He hurried back to the town government building and bolted to the rooftop, pulling out his telescope for a better view. Though the whereabouts of the mutant zombies were unknown, the sight of innumerable zombies scattering wildly through the inferno, with flames spreading in all directions, was a sight to behold.
"Friend, was this your doing?" The three survivors had followed him back and now stood on the rooftop. Even without a telescope, the blaze-filled sky and the trembling earth were unmistakable. The magnitude of the scene filled their eyes with awe as they turned their astonished gazes toward Tang Bing.
