The iron helmet blueprint offers sturdy protection for your head. To craft it, you'll need 10 iron ingots, 10 leather pieces, and 2 rolls of tape.
Given that it requires iron ingots, it's bound to be superior to a makeshift iron helmet.
The cake recipe is not only a treat for the taste buds but also a delight for the soul. You'll need 2 eggs, 2 sugar, and 5 wheat to bake it.
With just these ingredients, you can whip up a delicious cake far more easily than if you were to make it entirely by hand. The only question is, will it taste as good?
Upon returning to the corridor, members from both teams were scattered across the floor, each nursing their wounds.
Liang Hui was fortunate. She managed to assist Zhao Dagang from the corridor floor and then helped Qin Mengli to her side. Seating herself between them, she kept a wary eye on Jiang Feng and his two companions.
Jiang Feng, Liu Chen, and Xu Rou were seated with their backs against the wall, their expressions somber.
"Is it over?" Jiang Feng asked, noticing Tang Bing approaching from the hallway.
"It's done," Tang Bing confirmed, reaching out his hand to Jiang Feng.
Jiang Feng, momentarily puzzled, thought Tang Bing was offering to help him up, so he extended his hand in return, courteously responding, "Thank you!"
"Thank me for what?" Tang Bing brushed his hand aside, "Give me back the gun!"
Realizing his misunderstanding, Jiang Feng's face flushed with embarrassment, but he nonetheless passed the emptied pistols back to Tang Bing.
"Hey! Aren't you being a bit too harsh?" Liu Chen couldn't hold back and shouted in pain, "We got injured trying to save you, and we don't even know if we'll be infected with the zombie virus! You can't even muster a thank you, and all you care about is your gun? Jiang, if you ask me, we shouldn't even bother returning it! We've all been scratched by zombies, and for all we know, we might turn into creatures like them soon enough, so why bother about it so much?"
"You're nuts!" Tang Bing snatched the pistol, loaded it, and handed bullets to Qin Mengli and Zhao Dagang.
Liang Hui didn't even glance their way. She knew that even if she had a gun, she wouldn't have the courage to use it.
"We're just out of luck!" Jiang Feng watched Tang Bing's retreating figure and let out a soft sigh. "Who would've thought we'd run into a mutant zombie, and such a formidable one at that. Now, except for that young girl, we're all going to be slowly infected by the zombie virus and turn into zombies ourselves! I say we give her all the weapons and resources so she can make a run for it."
"Jiang, stop worrying about them!" Liu Chen bit back his pain and spoke through gritted teeth. "We should've just run when we had the chance, left them to their fate!"
"Don't talk like that!" Xu Rou, still woozy, managed to stand. "He was the one who saved me first!"
"And what good did that do? Now none of us can make it out alive. Happy now?" Liu Chen's right fist thumped the ground in frustration.
"Chen'er, look how calm they are," Jiang Feng said, catching his breath. "A big guy like you, and you're not even as composed as that young girl. They're not crying or fussing—what does that say about you?"
Liu Chen glanced at Qin Mengli and Liang Hui and nodded reluctantly. "They might not be fighters, but you can't deny they're mentally tough. But what's the point of all this talk? We're all going to end up ghosts together. And my poor sister, still in B City waiting for me, clueless that her brother's about to turn into one of these creatures. If only my phone had some charge!"
"The whole city's power is down," Jiang Feng lamented. "Nothing we can do about it. Plus, who knows if the signal towers are even still standing? Forget it. Sending a final message to your sister might just confuse her more. Right now, ignorance is bliss. She can hold on to hope and keep living. Time heals all wounds."
"You're right," Liu Chen conceded with a sigh. "I just never imagined my life would end like this... Jiang, I really don't want to die."
"Do you think I do?" Jiang Feng sighed deeply. "Nobody wants to die, especially not like this—becoming a monster that preys on humans. But some things are just out of our hands! It's all my fault. If only I'd stayed put at the temporary base today, maybe all three of us would've been spared."
"How can I blame you?" Liu Chen said. "Jiang, you had good intentions, wanting to save people and help more survivors make it through. Who could've guessed we'd run into someone so ruthless, and end up endangering ourselves in the process!"
"Enough!" Jiang Feng cut him off, turning to Xu Rou, "It's just that we've ended up holding Sister Xu Rou back."
"What are you talking about?" Xu Rou, dragging her wounded body, moved closer to Jiang Feng. "We all made this choice together. There's no such thing as a burden here."
"Hey! Why aren't you urging that young girl to leave quickly? She's the only one not hurt and not infected by the zombie virus," Liu Chen said, looking at Liang Hui. "We're beyond saving, but she still has a chance! What are you waiting for, girl? Get going! We could turn into flesh-eating zombies at any moment. Are you too attached to your friends? Now's the time to think of your own safety. Go, now!"
"He's not wrong," Jiang Feng admitted with a wry smile. "We need to get that girl out of here before we turn and endanger her. Even if she might not last long out there, it's better than being devoured by us!"
"Little sister, why are you still here?" Xu Rou also turned to Liang Hui. "Take all our weapons and supplies. You've still got a shot. Live on for all of us, will you?"
Annoyed by their words, Liang Hui found herself unable to summon the courage to join the fight, a shameful feeling. Even Mengli had taken up arms, while she stood there, frozen. Now, with the three of them insisting she abandon her teammates and leave, she finally snapped. "Can you stop? You're driving me crazy! Bing will tell us what to do; we don't need your input!"
"Hey! We're just trying to help, and you can't even see it," Liu Chen grumbled. "Your Bing will likely turn into a zombie like the rest of us soon. If you don't leave now, you'll end up as zombie food!"
"Forget it! If she doesn't want our help, why bother?" Xu Rou said, leaning against the cold wall. "Let's conserve our energy. Before we turn, let's rest in peace and avoid some of the pain."
"My leg's broken; it's nearly impossible not to be in agony!" Liu Chen grimaced, cursing, "Damn, even the slightest move feels like it's going to kill me!"
"Just bear with it. Once you turn into a zombie, you won't feel a thing," Jiang Feng murmured from the side.
"Jiang, that doesn't exactly cheer me up, you know!"
Tang Bing paid no mind to the trio's plight, methodically administering antibiotics and painkillers to Qin Mengli, Liang Hui, and Zhao Dagang, urging them to take the medications quickly.
Jiang Feng and the others sat with their eyes closed, backs against the wall, looking resigned and tinged with sorrow.
"Bing!" Zhao Dagang, after swallowing his medicine, looked up and gestured, "Shouldn't they get some too? They did help us out earlier, and without them, you might not have made it."
Qin Mengli and Liang Hui also nodded in agreement. They weren't exactly fond of the others, but they acknowledged that the injuries were sustained while saving Tang Bing.
Tang Bing glanced back at Jiang Feng and his companions, pondering for a moment before retrieving antibiotics, painkillers, and a splint from his virtual pack.
As the sound of footsteps drew near, the three men opened their eyes. Seeing Tang Bing approach, they tensed up, wary.
Tang Bing paused, then crouched down and offered Xu Rou a dose of antibiotics and painkillers.
Xu Rou slightly furrowed her brow and sidestepped, refusing to take them.
"What are you up to?" Despite the pain causing sweat to bead on his forehead, Liu Chen managed to snarl at Tang Bing.
"I'm treating you," Tang Bing replied coolly. "If you don't want to die, take them now."
"Have you lost your mind? Once the zombie poison hits, we're as good as dead. I've watched people turn into zombies right before my eyes!" Liu Chen said with a scowl. "Stop kidding yourself. We're goners!"
