C1 He Came!

"Linda, don't worry about the family anymore. Go abroad with your mother and hide your identity. Don't ever come back."

The old man's voice sounded weak as if he was about to die. Linda looked at her father with tears in her eyes. Her heart ached so much that she wanted to die.

"Don't worry. I will take good care of myself and my mother." Her heart ached so much that she couldn't breathe. Linda held her father's hand tightly, as if she wanted to give him some strength. However, it was all in vain.

"Don't ever have anything to do with the knibbs family again." Dennis suddenly squeezed his daughter's hand, not caring about Linda's trembling body.

What?

Linda opened her eyes wide in disbelief. Her amber eyes were filled with shock and pain. "Why... Dad..."

"Don't ever look for the reason. From now on, you and that person from the Knibbs family have nothing to do with each other. Remember, never have anything to do with each other again!" Dennis' eyes were wide open as he looked at his daughter. He only let go of his hand when she finally nodded.

Child, don't blame me...

Tears streamed down Linda’s face, but her father’s hand gradually softened in her hand. She raised her head in a daze and saw that Dennis had stopped breathing, but his eyes were still wide open, as if he couldn’t take it.

Linda screamed and woke up from her dream. The smell of the disinfectant in the hospital still lingered in her nose. Her hand stretched out helplessly as if she was about to grab something. However, there was only air in the empty room, as if her heart had long been empty.

Her body was drenched in cold sweat, and there were traces of tears at the corner of her eyes. She was trembling uncontrollably.

The room was still familiar to her. Linda's tense body finally relaxed. She held her forehead and took a long time to adjust her breathing.

So many years had passed, but she still had such a nightmare.

Did she not forget the past? She glanced at the magazine on the bedside table. The entire page was occupied by a man. The headline was especially eye-catching:

Kurt, the president of the international company, the youngest CEO in the country, had returned.

Kurt.

The entire front page was occupied by this man's figure. It was the only photo he took. He had just walked down from the plane, and the bodyguards around him followed him like shadows.

The man was tall and eye-catching among the crowd, but his aura was even stronger. People could only see him with one glance. He was as noble as a star, and everyone was looking at him.

He was dressed in a black windbreaker. His short hair was neat and cold. The spring wind blew his clothes up and down, as if he was a demon spreading his wings. His handsome face was deep, but it was covered by a huge pair of sunglasses. Even so, Linda could recognize him with just one glance.

Her slender white fingers slid across the man's face in the photo. Linda's thin pink lips trembled slightly. Even after seven years, his appearance was still engraved in her heart.

She gently copied his name on her fingertips. It was as if she was still in her youth from many years ago. She drew his name on her notebook many times, carving his name deeply into her heart.

Her heart ached deeply, as if it was being gripped by an invisible claw. It was so painful that she couldn't breathe.

No, Linda, you can't remember him again.

She took a deep breath, but her mother called out from outside the door, "Linda, it's time for breakfast."

Linda replied and took a deep look at the magazine. She rolled up the magazine and put it in her bag. The words on the cover were written in black and white, "The President of the Knibbs Group, Kurt, is interviewing."

She ate breakfast under her mother's gaze and grabbed her bag. She ran out to take the bus. In the few years she had been in the country, Linda had long since gotten used to the fast-paced life in the country.

She adapted very well and soon found a magazine agency that was specialized in her field. She also had some achievements. Now that she was close to becoming a formal employee, her business was even busier.

The office building of the Knibbs Group was located in the busiest commercial street in the city center of B City. The tall and erect office building was shining brightly under the bright sunshine. Just like its owner, it was as dazzling as a proud diamond.

Linda saw Cyril standing in a business car and waiting for her from afar. His handsome face was still as warm as ever, and he was waving at her.

"I've made you wait, Senior." Linda was a little embarrassed. Her seaweed-like hair contrasted with her pretty face, making her look even purer.

"I just arrived. I didn't have to wait long." Cyril smiled elegantly and handed the recording pen in his hand to her.

Linda thanked him and took it. In the past few days, Cyril had been taking good care of her.

Cyril watched as Linda carefully put the recording pen into her bag. However, she saw that there was a faint dark bruise under her usually white eyes. She couldn't help but frown. "Didn't you rest?"

Was it so obvious?

Linda subconsciously covered it and explained awkwardly, "But I was just a little nervous."

After saying that, she immediately got ready and said, "Senior, I'll go in first."

Cyril noticed her dodging and didn't ask any more questions. He just nodded and gave her a reassuring gaze.

Linda took a deep breath. Finally, she turned around and walked into the office building of the Knibbs Group. The entire hall was decorated in an extremely simple style. It was modern and elegant. This familiar style made her unable to help but clench her bag.

"Hello, I am a reporter from the XE magazine. May I ask if Chief Kurt is here?" She politely asked the receptionist.

"Miss, do you have an appointment?" The receptionist smiled coldly and detachedly. Her professional aura was very strong.

Linda was at a loss for words. How could she have an appointment? If it wasn't for the chief editor's order, she didn't want to have anything to do with him at all!

Just as she was hesitating, the receptionist had already seen everything. She smiled coldly and said, "I'm sorry, Miss. You can't see the boss without an appointment. Please leave!"

The receptionist was used to receiving so many reporters every day. She had never seen the boss himself, let alone a third-rate magazine company.

"I'm sorry, can you please make an exception?" She didn't believe that he really wouldn't see her. "My name is Linda."

The receptionist frowned impatiently and said coldly, "I'm sorry, Miss. Please leave."

After saying that, she pressed the security alarm button rudely. A group of people immediately rushed out. The receptionist raised her chin and said, "Invite her out!"

The security guard stepped forward. Linda was startled and immediately retreated, wanting to dodge. However, she was mercilessly caught by the security guard.

"You can't do this. Please let go!" Linda struggled to get pushed inside. A sturdy middle-aged man was sitting in the security room. He glanced at her with a fierce face.

"Do you know where this is? Are you going to make a fuss if I don't arrest you?" The man said disdainfully as he looked Linda up and down.
