C16 Back to the Di City.

That afternoon, Muh Jingyan wrapped up her affairs in B City and caught a flight to Di City. It had been three years since she last stood under this expanse of blue sky, and her emotions were a tangled web. She cast a brief glance at the bustling Di City International Airport and frowned as she made her way outside.

As soon as she emerged from the airport, she drew the attention of many onlookers. Men's eyes lingered on her; her natural beauty outshone any celebrity gracing the covers of magazines or screens of televisions. She radiated an aura of nobility and aloofness, and her icy gaze seemed to exert an invisible pressure on those around her. Such a striking presence was bound to stir the most primal conquest desires in men.

Outside the airport terminal, a crowd was waiting. A sleek black Mercedes-Benz approached and came to a halt not far from where Muh Jingyan stood. A group emerged from the terminal and made their way toward the vehicle. Leading them was a young, handsome man dressed in a white suit, his face adorned with a gentle smile. He had the air of a spring breeze about him, inviting closeness, yet his smile carried a subtle chill, betraying his refined demeanor. The deference shown by his entourage spoke volumes of his high status; this was no ordinary man.

Muh Jingyan spared him only a fleeting, indifferent glance before turning away. But in that instant, a glaring light caught her eye. Her keen gaze swiftly scanned the northeast direction, pinpointing a tiny red dot lurking in a shadowy corner. A sniper's nest. Her pupils contracted sharply, and without a second thought, she lunged toward the man in white, her voice cutting through the air, "Be careful!"

In that same moment, as Muh Jingyan tackled the dashing man in the white suit, gunshots pierced the air. Bullets sliced through the atmosphere, narrowly missing their mark and embedding into a column. Chaos erupted in the terminal as the man's bodyguards sprang into action, encircling him protectively.

"There's the sniper, chase him!" Several of his men quickly identified the sniper's location and dashed off in pursuit.

"Are you alright?" Murong Han looked up, somewhat bewildered, at the slender woman who had thrown herself upon him. A cool scent lingered at the tip of his nose, and he was visibly taken aback that she had been the one to save him. With a touch of concern, he inquired.

Muh Jingyan frowned slightly, disliking the proximity to the man. She gave Murong Han a brief, detached glance and shook her head before rising, maintaining her cool, distant composure.

Murong Han's brow furrowed as he took a closer look at his savior. He was surprised to find that the woman who had saved him was so strikingly attractive. "How may I address you? Thank you for saving me just now!" His voice was as smooth as his polished exterior.

"No need," Muh Jingyan replied curtly, turning to leave.

"Wait," Murong Han called after her, extending his business card. "Thank you for today. If you ever need assistance, please call me." Despite her coldness, his offer was genuine.

Muh Jingyan glanced at Murong Han, accepted the card with a nod, and slipped it into her pocket before walking away without a backward glance.

Murong Han watched her retreating figure, her aloofness piquing his curiosity. He squinted thoughtfully, a mix of emotions playing across his face. He had never encountered a woman so indifferent to him, and he found it intriguing. This enigmatic woman had saved him from certain harm, and for that, he was intrigued.

As Murong Han pondered, his men returned from their unsuccessful pursuit. "Master Murong, the assailant was too fast; we lost him," they reported.

His eyes hardened, and a chill touched his otherwise warm gaze. "Let's head back," he commanded, glancing once more at the sniper's last known location.

Not long after Murong Han's departure, a voice brimming with excitement called out, "Yanyan, I'm over here!"

Hearing the familiar voice, Muh Jingyan's gaze softened as she spotted the figure in the crowd. A genuine smile graced her lips, warmth flooding her usually icy demeanor.

"Why haven't you been in touch? Where have you been? I've been so worried!" The beautiful figure rushed to Muh Jingyan, embracing her with fervent warmth.

The embrace was strong, the voice filled with emotion, and Muh Jingyan felt her heart warm. "I'm back," she reassured, patting the woman's shoulder, her icy resolve melting just a bit.

Ye Chuxia was Muh Jingyan's only close friend in Di City. She and Gong Siyu had once both been close to her, but Gong Siyu had betrayed Muh Jingyan by seducing her boyfriend, Qin Yunkai.

Throughout those difficult times, Ye Chuxia was Muh Jingyan's steadfast companion. Without her, she truly feared what might have become of her. Yet, despite her loyalty, she was ultimately outmaneuvered by Gong Siyu and committed to a psychiatric facility.

"You vanished into thin air, not a single word," Ye Chuxia accused, her voice thick with emotion. "I was frantic, searching for you everywhere. After so many years, I started to believe you'd left me for good."

Tears and laughter mingled on Ye Chuxia's face as she fixed Muh Jingyan with a look of indignation.

Her emotions were a whirlwind of excitement and anger. Muh Jingyan, deeply moved, offered words of solace, "Come on, we've got an audience. Mind your image, will you?"

"This is all on you," Ye Chuxia retorted. "Unless you provide a satisfactory explanation, I'm not letting this go."

With a fierce swipe, Ye Chuxia banished her tears and continued to stare down Muh Jingyan, her eyes brimming with a tumultuous blend of agitation and elation.
