C4 Let's See Where She Can Run To!

Stepping into the dorm, Muh Jingyan's gaze immediately landed on her roommate and bestie, Leng Qianqian.

"Where on earth were you last night?" Leng Qianqian exclaimed as she rushed over. "I was worried sick about you!"

Leng Qianqian had been Muh Jingyan's close friend since her first day at A University. A bit of a klutz with striking looks, she was the epitome of an unpolished gem and had always looked out for Jingyan on campus.

"I had to deal with something, so I went home," Jingyan replied with a serene smile, downplaying the incident to ease her friend's concern.

"Yanyan, let it out if you're hurting. Did your sister give you trouble?"

"Soong Xian is a total jerk, and Su Mo's no better. Want me to give them a piece of my mind?"

Despite her bravado, Leng Qianqian's eyes betrayed her worry for Jingyan.

"Don't bother; they're not worth the effort," Jingyan reassured her with a laugh. She had never harbored any real affection for Soong Xian; he seemed decent enough, which is why she'd agreed to date him. But to think she'd been duped by a man was almost comical.

Leng Qianqian relaxed a bit, seeing Jingyan's untroubled demeanor.

"Just remember, he's not worth your time. Next time he bugs you, I'll take care of him," she offered.

"I'll hold you to that," Jingyan chuckled, grabbing a change of clothes and heading to the bathroom.

Three days later, the Su and Soong families, both prominent in B City, were hosting the engagement party of Su Mo and Soong Xian at the opulent Haoyue Hotel.

Standing at the hotel's grand entrance, Jingyan's thoughts drifted to that night's entanglement. Her gaze grew icy. Su Mo had crossed a line by drugging her, and Jingyan wasn't about to let it slide.

Her lips curved into a slight smirk, her cool beauty radiating allure. Today, she was transformed. Clad in a black off-the-shoulder gown, she cut a stunning figure. Her skin glowed with a rosy translucence, and in her eight-centimeter heels, she was the picture of elegance.

As she entered, all eyes turned to her, her presence overshadowing even the delicate Su Mo at Soong Xian's side.

"Yanyan, you made it!" Soong Xian greeted her, his eyes still smiling despite the surprise.

Su Mo, on the other hand, seethed with envy. How had Jingyan blossomed so? And the thought of her being kept by some rich old man only fueled her scorn.

But in public, Su Mo kept up her genteel facade. "I'm so glad you could come. I was worried you wouldn't!"

Jingyan's eyes glinted with mockery. "I wouldn't miss it for the world. Here's my gift to you," she said, passing a box to Su Mo, a cryptic spark in her gaze.

Su Mo accepted it with a sneer, convinced of her own superiority. She handed it off to an attendant.

"Come on in. My parents are waiting," Su Mo said sweetly.

Jingyan's smile deepened. "Enjoy my gift, Su Mo. It's one you'll never forget."

With her head held high, Jingyan strode into the hotel, her pride evident in her smile.

From a corner, Yung Mo watched her entrance, his gaze dangerous yet playful. Jingyan sensed the peril behind her and spun around, but Yung Mo had vanished. With a frown, she continued forward.

"She's certainly on her guard," he mused.

Yung Mo had only intended to go downstairs to join the engagement party, planning to slip in at the last moment. However, to his surprise, he ran into Muh Jingyan.

The memory of their wild night together flashed before him, his eyes blazing with an imperious intensity.

For thirty years, he had abstained from intimacy with women, his disdain for them palpable, yet Muh Jingyan was the sole exception.

Since their encounter, she had consumed his thoughts.

She wouldn't be able to escape him this time!

As Muh Jingyan entered the banquet hall, Su's father and Su's mother were busily greeting guests with warmth.

The sight of Muh Jingyan caused Su's mother's expression to sour instantly.

Su's father, on the other hand, let his gaze linger on Muh Jingyan's elegant form, a hint of avarice flickering in his eyes.

Muh Jingyan approached them with an icy stare.

Despite Su's father's initial rescue being driven by selfish desires, and his subsequent attempts to assault her, she knew she owed him gratitude.

Without him, she might have perished in the desolate outdoors long ago.
