C35 Han Feng Just You Wait!
"Tidal Palm!"
Before Han Lin, Han Feng, and their companions, a spectacle akin to a tidal wave unfolded. The One-Horned Wolf howled in pain, retreating again and again before unleashing an even angrier roar as the formidable aura of a Sixth Grade Devil Beast erupted.
Yet the figure that emerged bore an aura not the least bit inferior to the Devil Beast's. The One-Horned Wolf, wary and roaring, hesitated to attack rashly.
"Instructor!"
Chang Wenjun, narrowly escaping death, was ecstatic. He scrambled to Instructor Chang's side, then cast a malevolent look at Han Lin and Han Feng.
Instructor Chang demanded, "What's happened here? How did a Sixth Grade Devil Beast stray from the depths of the Jade Peak Mountain Range?"
Chang Wenjun, seething with resentment, replied, "I have no idea. It followed Han Feng. And it was Han Feng who injured me earlier. If you hadn't arrived when you did, I would've been..."
Instructor Chang's icy gaze fell upon Han Lin and Han Feng. "You two vile creatures, you're seeking your own demise!"
With a palm strike, Instructor Chang unleashed a wave of terrifying power, instilling fear in Han Feng and Han Lin.
They stood no chance against the blow from a Middle Stage Human Rank practitioner.
Behind them, Chang Wenjun's face twisted into a gruesome smile.
"Flame Blade!"
As Instructor Chang's palm strike surged forward, a Flame Blade swept in, clashing with it mid-strike.
Instructor Lin appeared before Han Feng and Han Lin, his expression steely. "What is this about?"
Instructor Chang, seething with rage, shot back, "That's a question for the Han family's young duo. They've injured Chang Wenjun, practically sacrificing his life to buy themselves time. Is the life of a Chang family son worth less than that of the Han family?"
Instructor Lin's brow furrowed. He sensed the complexity of the situation. Having been with the Han family for years, he was well aware of the Chang family's notorious duplicity.
In a stern voice, Instructor Lin addressed the young men, "Han Feng, Han Lin, is this true?"
Without hesitation, Han Lin responded, "Instructor, Chang Wenjun struck first. We were merely defending ourselves."
"Moreover, Chang Wenjun willingly abandoned the other three members of the Chang family. That's none of our concern."
Instructor Lin nodded, now with a clearer grasp of the situation.
Instructor Chang, however, bellowed in rage, "You two little runts, quit spouting nonsense!"
Instructor Lin's expression turned icy. "Don't go around bullying others without cause!"
Suddenly, the One-Horned Wolf let out a roar that snapped both Instructor Lin and Instructor Chang to attention. They still had a level six Devil Beast to contend with.
From behind, Chang Wenjun seethed with frustration. "Curse it, how can these two kids be so damn lucky? If only Instructor Lin had been just a bit later, those two would be dead."
"And Han Feng, I always underestimated him, thought he was useless. But he managed to kick and injure me before I could even react. There's more to Han Feng than meets the eye."
"If Han Feng continues to grow stronger, it will spell disaster for the Chang family. We must seize an opportunity to eliminate him."
"Flame Blade!"
"Tidal Palm!"
The two Human Rank mid-stage powerhouses launched their signature moves with full force.
The One-Horned Wolf yawned its massive jaws, unleashing a fearsome gale that tore through the surroundings. Numerous towering trees were shredded to bits, leaving the area within a ten-meter radius in utter disarray.
Han Feng and Han Lin, standing not too far behind Instructor Lin, witnessed the chaos and felt a wave of relief wash over them. Had the One-Horned Wolf targeted them with such ferocity, they wouldn't have stood a chance.
The trio of powerful moves clashed, sending sparks scattering and smoke billowing.
Both Instructor Lin and Instructor Chang were forced to step back.
A heavy realization weighed on Instructor Lin. "This One-Horned Wolf has grown stronger than it was years ago. It's likely advanced to the mid-stage of level six, on par with a Human Rank Five Star Expert. If we combined our strengths, we might stand a chance at defeating it."
"Unfortunately, that's out of the question. There's no way we could truly cooperate."
With this in mind, Instructor Lin called out urgently, "Han Feng, Han Lin, you two get out of here first. I'll make my exit once you're safe. This creature won't be able to stop me from leaving."
Hearing this, Instructor Chang wasted no time in gesturing for Chang Wenjun to depart.
Chang Wenjun's complexion instantly drained of color. If he were to leave on his own, there was a high chance he would fall victim to Han Feng and Han Lin.
Instructor Chang, however, was oblivious to Chang Wenjun's fears. Chang Wenjun had previously withheld the truth, merely claiming he was ambushed by Han Feng. Thus, Instructor Chang hadn't considered the possibility that Han Feng's abilities had surpassed Chang Wenjun's.
Direct combat and an ambush were entirely different matters.
Seeing Chang Wenjun hesitate to depart, Instructor Chang felt a surge of irritation. But recalling Chang Wenjun's three elder brothers, he quickly suppressed his annoyance. The Chang family was not to be trifled with by someone of his status as a collateral disciple.
The One-Horned Wolf attacked again, leaving Instructors Lin and Chang with no choice but to engage the beast, putting aside their concern for Han Feng and his companion.
Out of nowhere, a figure materialized beside Han Feng. Startled, Han Feng swiftly dodged to the side. Looking up, he exclaimed with joy, "Instructor Han!"
It was Han Yongxing who had arrived.
Han Yongxing tsked, "Today marks the end of the assessment. I merely intended to check on your progress, but instead, I've stumbled upon this predicament. You two lads are quite unfortunate, being hunted by a Level 6 Devil Beast."
Han Lin, in a panic, urged, "Instructor Han, please act quickly. Instructor Lin is starting to lose ground."
Han Yongxing chuckled heartily. "You're selling your instructor short. Without you two here, Lin Yue would've made a swift getaway. That creature wouldn't stand a chance of catching him."
"Well then, since I'm here, I might as well finish it off. The Level 6 Devil Core could fetch a good number of Lower-grade Spirit Stones, and that would certainly boost my odds of advancing."
"Thunder Fall Finger!"
Five bolts of lightning streaked from the heavens, striking the One-Horned Wolf with precision.
Han Yongxing, a Peak Six-star Human Rank master, was a formidable force. In Devil Beast terms, he was a peak Level 6, far more powerful than the mid-level Six-star One-Horned Wolf.
The lightning bolts tore through the One-Horned Wolf's flesh, leaving it in tatters.
Lin Yue and Instructor Chang hastily backed away, wary of being caught in the arc of electricity.
"Rushing Thunder Finger!"
Han Yongxing extended his hand, unleashing a massive bolt of lightning.
The One-Horned Wolf howled in agony before collapsing to the ground.
Armed with the peak Six-star Human Rank cultivation and a Medium-class Human Rank Martial Skill, Han Yongxing was a match even for an average Seven-star Human Rank adversary.
Put simply, Han Yongxing could hold his own against an Early Period Level 7 Devil Beast, much less a Mid-grade Six-star One-Horned Wolf.
Approaching the fallen beast, Han Yongxing extracted the Level 6 Devil Core from its corpse.
Instructor Chang's expression turned grave, recognizing his own strength was no match for Han Yongxing's. With a heavy heart, he curbed his desire for the Devil Core and walked away.
As he departed, Chang Wenjun cast a chilling look at Han Feng and mouthed a silent message.
"Han Feng, you're in for it!"
Han Feng caught the warning and responded with a cold, mocking laugh.
