C129 Chu Yi's Request

"These are your rewards..."

He gestured towards the array of peculiar items before him as the light and shadow settled down to a mundane glow.

Chu Yi looked on, bewildered.

The items before him were vibrant and seemingly appealing, yet he had no clue as to their actual purpose.

"Excuse me, Senior, could these items be traded for resources?"

At his question, the light and shadow hesitated.

"Traded for resources?"

"You're certain you want to trade these for cultivation resources?!"

Chu Yi sheepishly scratched his head. Resources were indeed his greatest necessity.

"Do you realize that in the cosmos, the least valuable things are cultivation resources?!"

"These items are worth far more than any cultivation resource!"

While speaking, the light and shadow made a sweeping gesture with his arm, and suddenly, a nondescript black stone floated before him.

"This is Dust Iron. Though it's merely the size of a fist, combined with other materials and crafted by a skilled blacksmith, it could be forged into a Five-star piece of equipment!"

"Five-star equipment is quite respectable in the universe. If sold, it could fetch you a fortune that would astonish you!"

Chu Yi regarded the Dust Iron without a flicker of desire in his eyes.

He was not as ignorant as the light and shadow might assume.

Indeed, the material was exceptionally durable, with laws of the universe woven within it.

But of what use was it to him?

Was it merely for show?

The light and shadow had mentioned the need for additional materials and the services of a master blacksmith!

Let's not even consider whether he could amass the required materials or if the blacksmith would generously forge the item free of charge.

Consider the Fifth Level equipment that would result!

Did Chu Yi need such equipment?

If he could continue to fortify his physical body, then in the face of true peril, he could harness the power of his primordial spirit to impose nomological defenses.

Wouldn't he then be more effective than any piece of equipment?

In the Primordial Immortal Demon World, there were indeed immortal treasures that could shake the heavens and move the earth, born intrinsically with the Great Dao flowing through them.

But the rest, the forged items...

Truthfully, they were quite mundane in the presence of the most exalted beings.

Not because their might was lacking, but because, in the aftermath of each cataclysmic battle, those spiritual treasures would invariably be destroyed.

Although they weren't intended to be single-use items initially, they ended up being treated as disposable after just one use.

Chu Yi didn't have that much money!

But what mattered most was that Chu Yi was keenly aware of his ace in the hole!

The power of the primordial spirit!

Or to put it another way, an Immortal Dao cultivator!

That was the core of Chu Yi's being.

His physical strength was formidable, but it was merely a conduit for unleashing immortal arts.

In the face of immortal arts, all other equipment was laughable.

Moreover, he didn't need any special immortal arts to use them!

So, in Chu Yi's eyes, these items were of little value.

Yet, he couldn't voice this thought.

Observing Chu Yi's silence, the figure of light seemed to believe that Chu Yi was swayed.

"Furthermore..."

The figure paused, took a deep breath, and added, "Furthermore, even if you had the money, you wouldn't be able to purchase these items."

"Additionally..."

With another wave of his hand, a peculiar spear materialized before him.

"While I consider this item worthless, for someone like you, below the Starry Sky Realm, it holds an incredible power!"

"With it, you'll possess the might to slay a War God Realm powerhouse..."

The Starry Sky Realm is what everyone in the universe refers to as the War God Realm.

Chu Yi eyed the technologically advanced spear, now genuinely uncertain.

"So, what's the cost of using this item?"

The greater the power, the higher the consumption.

"There's not much to it, just a few ordinary Spirit Crystals..."

The light figure gestured, and bright crystals hovered in the air.

From these, Chu Yi sensed spiritual energy!

The old man was right; in the universe, spiritual energy was indeed the norm.

But still...

"How much will it consume?"

Chu Yi bit his lip. If the consumption wasn't excessive, he would consider it!

"Oh, it really isn't much. A single shot would cost about five or six Spirit Crystals..."

Time to leave!

Chu Yi felt the urge to wave goodbye and exit the scene.

They called this minimal consumption?

Chu Yi had seen the Spirit Crystals.

Though the spiritual energy within them couldn't compare to the bottle of wine the old man had given Lee Zi, if it required five or six Spirit Crystals, the cost was significantly higher.

So, firing just one shot would consume an entire bottle of that spiritual wine?

Chu Yi had inquired about its origin from the elder, but the old man had kept its source a secret, merely emphasizing its rarity.

Had Chu Yi not returned home, the elder would never have revealed it.

From his fourth uncle's reaction, Chu Yi could surmise a few things.

The elder also mentioned he might not be able to acquire a second bottle, which spoke volumes about its value.

But now...

It was simply too costly!

To slay a War God, he had to expend such an exorbitant amount of resources?

Chu Yi was confident that with his full combat prowess and mastery of the immortal arts, he could take down a War God on his own.

So, this extravagantly expensive item was something he truly didn't need.

However...

"By the way, can my reward be converted into Spirit Crystals?"

The figure of light was taken aback once more.

Clearly, Chu Yi was repeatedly pushing his limits.

"You wish to trade your reward for these worthless Spirit Crystals?!"

Worthless Spirit Crystals...

Chu Yi's mouth twitched slightly.

"Is that not allowed?"

The figure of light fell silent, not responding for a considerable time.

"Chu Yi, do you realize the immense assistance these items will provide you in the future?"

"I understand you might be short on resources, but don't fixate on the immediate shortfall. The future holds greater importance!"

The figure of light surmised that Chu Yi was indeed in need of resources.

Yet, even if Chu Yi managed to secure resources and enhance himself swiftly, what of it?

What could he do once he truly ventured into the vastness of the starry skies?

By then, it wouldn't just be his own strength he'd rely on – equipment would be key!

Certainly, the figure of light didn't advise top talents to overly depend on external aids, but a judicious use was acceptable.

Hearing the figure of light, Chu Yi recognized the sincerity in his advice, that he truly had Chu Yi's best interests at heart.

But he couldn't just outright say that he had no need for these items!

The path of the Immortal Dao was Chu Yi's true essence. Unlike other prodigies, as long as he could enhance his physical body, Chu Yi could wield even greater power.

Other geniuses need to accumulate knowledge and gain insight gradually.

They are fundamentally different from Chu Yi.

"I believe I still need these resources..."

The figure of light seemed to grow angry. "You—"

He raised a finger to point at Chu Yi but ultimately let it fall, his gesture futile.

In truth, these were not the rewards intended for Chu Yi.

The Stellar Tower's usual rewards did not include such items.

The figure had prepared them specifically for Chu Yi after witnessing his performance, believing that Chu Yi was destined to become the hope of humanity.

For the sake of Chu Yi's future safety, the figure had taken the liberty of exchanging these items on his behalf.

However, meeting someone like Chu Yi truly frustrated him.

"Senior, I understand you're looking out for me."

"But my situation is somewhat unique..."

Chu Yi chose not to disclose the details, so he left it at that.

"Rest assured, I have a clear plan for my future."

"I'm confident that, in time, you'll witness the moment my name echoes throughout the Stellar Human Clan's territories!"

Chu Yi spoke with determination and confidence.

And the figure believed him.

Considering Chu Yi's demonstrated abilities, if he could indeed continue to develop successfully, perhaps everything would unfold as Chu Yi envisioned...

"Alright, alright. I'll give you whatever you want."

In the end, the figure relented.

After all, he was merely a will imprint; the ultimate choice lay with Chu Yi.

"You're after these Spirit Crystals, aren't you?"

Chu Yi nodded.

The Spirit Crystals weren't of great use to him, but for Lee Zi, they were invaluable!

Regrettably, Chu Yi couldn't procure many for Lee Zi, and even the Chu family faced difficulties in this regard.

The situation was manageable for now, with Lee Zi at the Bronze level. But if Lee Zi were to advance to Gold, Diamond, or even become a War God...

The amount of spiritual energy Lee Zi would require was beyond imagination.

By then, the Chu family would be incapable of fulfilling Chu Yi's needs.

Chu Yi was always one to plan ahead.

"Having passed eight challenges, you stand as the sole champion in this Star Domain. Based on your performance, I can award you ten thousand Spirit Crystals."

Ten thousand...

Chu Yi's eyes grew wide with astonishment!

Despite the other party's dismissive tone regarding the Spirit Crystals, the spiritual energy they contained was incredibly dense. Chu Yi had thought that if the other party were generous, they might give a thousand at most.

But now, there was ten times that amount, leaving Chu Yi feeling somewhat overwhelmed.

"What, is it too little for you?"

"This is the absolute limit."

"These Spirit Crystals may be of lower quality, but it's all I have."

"Besides, I can bend some rules, but there are others I must adhere to."

Changing the gift for Chu Yi was within the rules that could be manipulated, but increasing the reward was not.

"That's more than enough!"

Truly, it was.

"So, is there anything else you desire?"

Could he ask for more?

The surprise was as sudden as it was delightful.

"Is it possible to exchange my reward for something else?"

The figure of light regarded Chu Yi. "Certainly not, as that's beyond my authority. However, as a privilege of mine, I can offer additional rewards to those talented individuals of the Human Race who excel."

"Consider it a form of support for our Human Race's future generations..."

Chu Yi felt no shame in his request.

"I want resources that can enhance my physical strength!"

"The best kind would be those brimming with immense power!"

"And if possible, I'd also like some resources containing Origin Substance..."
