C13 Doomsday Calamity

Chu Yi's body gave a slight shiver.

The Apocalypse!

It was indeed the Apocalypse!

In a flash, Chu Yi remembered the records he had studied about this world just the day before yesterday.

The Apocalypse, true to its name, spelled disaster for all civilizations!

Yes, every single one!

Not just Earth.

Even the esteemed Seventh Level and the mythical Eighth Level civilizations would incur devastating losses in the face of the Apocalypse.

Chu Yi had been particularly intrigued when he first came across the accounts of the Apocalypse and had delved deeper into its mysteries.

The origin of the Apocalypse was unknown, and its purpose unclear. At some point in cosmic history, it had abruptly descended upon all Cosmic Civilizations.

They would appear without warning within a civilization, unleashing a relentless onslaught of fearsome Demonic Beasts. These beasts were immensely powerful yet devoid of intelligence, seemingly existing solely for slaughter.

These Demonic Beasts were also referred to as the Doomsday Messengers.

If the gateways weren't sealed promptly, the emerging Doomsday Messengers would grow increasingly formidable over time.

Many high-level civilizations had been relegated to the annals of history due to the Apocalypse.

The Apocalypse was a scourge upon civilizations, from the storied Eighth Level to the barely noticeable First Level; none were spared its wrath.

Conversely, the emergence of the Apocalypse also marked a civilization's true entry into the cosmic age. After extensive research, numerous civilizations concluded that only those recognized by the cosmic will would face the Apocalypse.

The Terran Federation had been a First Level cosmic civilization for over two hundred years, enduring dozens of Apocalypses, the most catastrophic of which had obliterated a premier city.

And now, the Apocalypse had descended upon Redmarsh...

The colossal silhouette in the distance was on the move. It was only when it came fully into view that Chu Yi realized it was a massive winged python Demonic Beast.

Its elongated body instantly coiled around a skyscraper, and with a mere tightening, the building crumbled to dust.

Witnessing this scene, Chu Yi's complexion turned a shade paler.

Thanks to his recent progress in cultivation, Chu Yi could see many humans who hadn't managed to flee being crushed into pulp. His veins bulging and face contorted with rage, he cursed vehemently.

Despite the unchanged presence of his loved ones in this world, Chu Yi felt an inability to truly belong. He experienced a persistent sense of alienation, reminiscent of the detachment one feels towards NPCs while playing a video game. However, witnessing the deaths of countless humans right before his eyes ignited an unprecedented fury within him.

Regrettably, no matter how intense his anger, Chu Yi was powerless to act. A massive building collapsed in the distance, entombing the python Demonic Beast within its rubble. Yet, the beast seemed impervious to pain, bursting forth from the debris in an explosion of dust.

Chu Yi watched in horror as the colossal python Demonic Beast charged in his direction. Escape was futile, and fighting back was out of the question. Overwhelmed, he wondered if his life, which promised to be brilliant, was about to meet an untimely end.

The ground shook violently as the enormous python Demonic Beast crashed from the sky, stirring up clouds of dust that obscured Chu Yi's vision. Amidst the haze, he could hear the terrifying roars of the beast. "Could it be that the python Demonic Beast has diarrhea?" he mused, baffled by the sudden downfall of the creature at the height of its power. But then, it dawned on him. "It's him!"

As the smoke and dust cleared, Chu Yi finally caught sight of the figure in the distance. It was too far to discern their features, let alone determine their gender. Yet, there was no doubt that the appearance of this figure had halted the rampage of the python Demonic Beast that was about to unleash destruction.

"A human powerhouse!" Chu Yi realized quickly. Excitement flared in his eyes. This was the might of a human powerhouse! Despite the python Demonic Beast's immense and terrifying size, suggesting it could obliterate anything in its path, it stood no chance against the formidable intervention of the human expert. The beast writhed and twisted its massive form in defiance, but to no avail. The human expert in the sky was far too formidable, and each struggle was met with a crushing punch.

In the end, the colossal python Demonic Beast was reduced to nothing more than a heap of flesh. With that single punch, a terrifying force was unleashed, and Chu Yi sensed a faint ripple of something profound emanating from the figure – the power of law.

Chu Yi felt bewildered. His understanding was that even the legendary War God Level experts focused on the cultivation of their physical bodies. Why then were there fluctuations of law here? He was eager to observe this human expert further, but the opportunity slipped away as three more figures emerged in the sky.

Soon after, the police arrived, swiftly cordoning off the area and evacuating the crowd while attending to those trapped under the rubble. An affable police officer gently urged Chu Yi to leave. Knowing he could no longer witness the scene, Chu Yi departed with a tinge of regret.

The incident had put Redmarsh on high alert. Having seen so many of his fellow humans perish, Chu Yi no longer felt the urge to continue his stroll through the city.

Chu Yi returned home to find the house empty; his parents hadn't arrived yet. He lay quietly on his bed, alone with his thoughts. After a while, he booted up his computer and once again delved into his research on the Apocalypse.

The records and precious video footage he found on the Apocalypse left Chu Yi deeply shaken, a feeling that lingered for a long time. According to the information, the Apocalypse that manifests within a First Level civilization is considered the most basic form. The python Demonic Beast he had learned about was deemed the weakest of the Apocalypse Messengers. These harbingers of doom are the first to invade a civilization when the Apocalypse begins. If they are not swiftly dealt with, their slaughter of living beings will trigger the full onset of the Apocalypse, unleashing countless Demonic Beasts that know nothing but killing and fear no death. That moment marks the true start of the disaster.

If such a catastrophe is not halted, its magnitude could grow, potentially evolving from a First Level to a Second Level Calamity. The Apocalypse Messengers emerging from a Second Level Apocalypse are far beyond the likes of any python Demonic Beast.

Should the current Apocalypse in Redmarsh evolve into a Second Level Apocalypse, the entire city might fall, much like that premier city in the Terran Federation did.

"Here's the latest news," the broadcast began. "At 10:38 this morning, an Apocalypse erupted at the Xinbai Building. As of now, the death toll has surpassed 20,000. Thankfully, War God Level expert Luo Cheng arrived promptly on the scene, eliminating the Apocalypse Messenger and preventing the disaster from escalating."

"We now go live to the scene..."

Chu Yi's gaze lingered on the news link that had appeared. War God Luo Cheng – this was the first time Chu Yi had encountered such a formidable human, a top-tier expert capable of engaging with the very laws of this world. It was a concept he had never even considered possible until now.
