C14 The Aftermath Class
On the second day, the entirety of Redmarsh was under martial law, and Chu Yi, of course, remained at home.
By the third day, schools had reopened.
Chu Yi pushed open the classroom door and walked over to his seat. He faced the clutter of books and snacks strewn across his desk with an impassive gaze. Sensing the envious stares, thick with male hormones, from those around him, he casually swept the mess aside, restoring order to his workspace.
This was nothing new to Chu Yi.
Since the incident in the small auditorium a few days prior, Chu Yi's popularity had surged once again among the girls at Seventeenth High School.
Despite clarifications that Chu Yi was not a scientific prodigy, the buzz was really about his unique talent.
His Illusionary Perception, or what Chu Yi considered his array sensing talent, was seen as the ultimate gift to ordinary people.
This talent allowed him to repair virtual compasses—a skill both prestigious and lucrative.
In the Terran Federation alone, numerous organizations, departments, and even powerful families had invested in high-level virtual compasses for security purposes.
The cost of these devices was significant even among Fifth Level Civilizations, let alone in less advanced societies where they were astronomically priced.
Moreover, given the complexities of civilization levels, repairing these devices in the event of an accident was nearly impossible.
Thus, individuals capable of mending virtual compasses were in high demand across the Federation—no, across all civilizations.
Once deemed worthless, Chu Yi was now seen as a dazzling gold mine.
His good looks and promising future had made him an undisputed catch in everyone's eyes.
Consequently, the love letters that had ceased for a while had begun to overflow once more, showing no signs of stopping.
Chu Yi remained neutral on the matter.
He had grown accustomed to such attention in both his past and present lives; this time, it was just more intense.
Observing Chu Yi's composed demeanor, Dakun at his side couldn't help feeling a tinge of envy.
"Hey Yi, how can I become as popular as you?" Dakun asked with an eager look in his eyes. Chu Yi really wanted to suggest that Dakun could start all over again, but considering their friendship and the tough situations Dakun had endured, he refrained from uttering those potentially hurtful words.
In the midst of Chu Yi's silence and Dakun's expectant gaze, a dismissive voice cut through the air. "Pfft, what good are skills when facing disasters? You're still powerless!" The voice sneered. "In my opinion, strength is what truly matters in this world!"
"If you had the power of War God Luo, you wouldn't have to lift a finger, and the federal government would still take care of you." Although Chu Yi recognized the jealousy behind these remarks, he couldn't deny their truth. Ultimately, strength reigned supreme. Without it, even the most skilled individuals could be easily controlled by those at the top.
Dakun's face turned red, wanting to defend Chu Yi but at a loss for words. Chu Yi might have engaged in such petty disputes in the past, but now... he just chuckled to himself. They were nothing but kids, after all.
The conversation quickly shifted. "Speaking of which, if War God Luo hadn't stepped in yesterday, we would've been in real trouble!" The students recalled the terrifying sight of the massive python on TV, still shaken by the memory.
"Absolutely, it was horrifying!" another student chimed in. "The New Century Building was a towering 987 meters tall, one of the tallest in Redmarsh, and it just collapsed in an instant!"
"My parents told me that the appearance of the Apocalypse has stirred unrest among the Demon Kings in Silverdeer," someone else added, causing a ripple of concern among the students.
At Seventeenth High School, a prestigious institution, many students came from influential backgrounds, so it wasn't unusual for them to be privy to information beyond the common knowledge. Chu Yi listened intently to the discussion.
Silverdeer? That must be the Demonic Beast forbidden zone within the Adirang Region.
They weren't particularly knowledgeable about the Apocalypse.
Yet, when it came to Demonic Beasts, any student could speak with authority on the subject.
These individuals might dismiss the Apocalypse, but the mere mention of Demonic Beasts would send shivers down their spines.
After all, there was a time when Demonic Beasts nearly conquered the world.
"So, what do we do?"
"Maybe we should consider moving to the Yeidia Region!"
"I've heard that there are far fewer Demon Kings in the forbidden areas there, so it should be a lot safer!"
"Plus, the benefits are great. For those living there, it's practically like living in paradise!"
Chu Yi scoffed at these words.
Sure enough, even though the world had changed, some things remained the same.
In today's world, the Adirang Region, home to the Kunlun Mountains and the birthplace of the first War God Level experts, was unparalleled in both technology and martial prowess.
The student was correct; the Silverdeer had a high number of Demon Kings, significantly more than in the forbidden zones of other regions.
But likewise, the Adirang Region boasted a considerable number of War God Level experts!
Based on Chu Yi's knowledge, there were around thirty War God Level experts on Earth, with thirteen residing in the Adirang Region!
That's nearly half of the global count of War God Level experts!
And there's another crucial point to consider.
"Heh, the Yeidia Region? If a Demon King were to emerge, I bet those with 'Steel Wills' would flee faster than mechas!"
The Steel Will were the elite forces of the Yeidia Region, stationed around the forbidden zones to prevent Demonic Beasts from escaping and wreaking havoc.
"In our Adirang Region, we have not only thirteen War God Level experts but also the most elite, courageous, and formidable warriors on the planet!"
"With them here, the Adirang Region is the safest place to be!"
The Yan Huang Blood of the Adirang Region ranks first among the Terran Federation's top four forces.
The Steel Will, at best, is tied for second place.
"But..."
There will always be contrarians, no matter the era. Once Chu Yi heard the Steel Will was being brought up, he had no further interest in the conversation.
The bell signaling the start of class rang out promptly.
As the teacher entered the classroom, chaos still reigned among the desks and chairs.
Thud!
The sound of a textbook landing heavily on the lectern filled the room.
In that instant, a hush fell over the students.
The teacher watched them in silence for a full three minutes before finally speaking up, "Look at yourselves, just look!"
"Do you even resemble students anymore?!"
"Listen up, it's nearly May! You have less than two months until the college entrance exams!"
"If you don't seize this final stretch, do you really think you'll get into the university of your dreams?"
"If you fail to make it into college, then your future will be limited to..."
Such a familiar scenario.
Starting today, Chu Yi was determined to be a proactive and upwardly mobile individual, embodying the persona of an academic achiever!
