C290 Magic Equipment!(4)

He felt as if his very soul was on the brink of collapse.

He longed for death, but tragically, without Chu Yi's consent, he couldn't even achieve that.

"Does it hurt?" Chu Yi asked, shaking his head slightly.

"It's alright, we have plenty of time ahead of us."

"Besides, pain comes in levels. What you're experiencing now is the most basic level."

Indeed, this was the simplest form of pain.

Chu Yi knew this pain all too well, for it was the same agony he had endured for thousands of years within the Immortal Demon Temple!

And yet, the pain the therapist was currently enduring was barely a fraction of what Chu Yi had faced!

Chu Yi was cautious not to infuse too much power at once, as it could easily lead to the therapist's complete breakdown.

This collapse would be of the soul, and with Chu Yi's current abilities, it would be irreversible.

Chu Yi was intrigued by the identity of the person behind the therapist and thus, he wasn't ready to let him die.

After a considerable time, Chu Yi ceased his actions.

Suddenly, a surge of psychic force flowed into the therapist's body.

In that instant, the therapist felt as though he had been elevated to a higher plane, the shift from excruciating pain to utter relief was beyond words.

"Alright, can you speak now?" Chu Yi said, still smiling. However, to the therapist, that smile was more dreadful than that of any demon.

"What, you still don't want to talk?" Chu Yi pressed.

In that moment, the therapist finally cried out, "I'll tell, I'll tell!"

His voice was raspy, inexplicably so, given that his body had not been subjected to any physical torment. Why was his voice hoarse?

Confused, the therapist's gaze met Chu Yi's enigmatic smile, and all his questions faded away.

The pain was beyond description, and he couldn't bear another second of it.

At last, his mental defenses shattered completely.

Though consumed by fear, the therapist found himself eerily calm, his thoughts crystal clear.

It was this clarity that made him realize the full extent of Chu Yi's terror.

"This device," he confessed, "was acquired by my master from another civilization."

"I'm not sure what its specific purpose is..."

Upon witnessing Chu Yi's increasingly radiant smile, the therapist desperately wanted to end his own life.

"I haven't lied to you, I swear I haven't!"

"I truly don't know, I'm completely in the dark..."

At that moment, the therapist realized that despite his urge to cry, the tears just wouldn't come.

Even his supposed desperate cries for help were eerily calm.

Terrifying!

This was Chu Yi's doing!

Chu Yi observed the therapist with confidence and, after a brief pause, gave a slight nod.

He was convinced that the man was telling the truth.

Chu Yi could sense that there was no deception.

"So, what does your so-called master expect you to do?" Chu Yi inquired, his curiosity piqued.

The therapist hurriedly answered, "My master instructed me to place these devices in Lee Zi's room and simply activate them."

"He didn't elaborate beyond that..."

Chu Yi surmised that was all the therapist knew.

"And who is your master?" he asked, a smile playing on his lips.

If the therapist actually knew the identity of this so-called master, that would be the real punchline.

As expected, the therapist was clueless.

His communications with his master were always through specific, ever-changing methods.

Essentially, it was his master who initiated contact each time. If he wanted to reach out to his master, he would have to leave a message in a predetermined location.

Whether his master would respond was another matter entirely.

"I've told you everything I can."

"Please, spare me."

"I know it's wrong, but I'm out of options!"

"My entire family is at the mercy of my master. If I don't comply, he'll kill them all!"

"I truly have no choice!"

"I've never committed a wrongdoing before; this is my first time, honestly."

The confession, meant to be moving, came off as awkward instead.

The therapist looked at Chu Yi, striving to convey sincerity in his gaze.

But...

"Good, keep talking."

"Perhaps I might just let you go if I'm feeling merciful..."

The therapist's face stiffened. He had hoped that by appealing to Chu Yi's youth and potentially sympathetic nature, he might just sway him to leniency.

Regrettably, the therapist had sorely underestimated Chu Yi.

Had Chu Yi been truly cornered, or if he himself had been the target, perhaps Chu Yi might have shown mercy.

But alas, that wasn't the situation at hand!

From the very moment the therapist stepped into the room, Chu Yi had been meticulously observing his every expression.

Just by witnessing the therapist's malevolent gaze and calculating movements, Chu Yi could tell that this was not his first nefarious deed.

This time, Chu Yi didn't even need to gauge the therapist's emotions to know he was lying.

"Alright, I guess that's all you're going to divulge."

"Ah, asking you was as good as not asking at all. Such a waste of my time..."

Chu Yi shook his head in resignation.

In the next instant, he extended his hand and with a gentle wave, the therapist's form vanished completely.

Utter obliteration!

This was annihilation at its most fearsome.

The Ashen Power!

Chu Yi wielded the Ashen Power, erasing the therapist's existence in an instant. Such a level of obliteration was so absolute that not even the mightiest of beings could retrieve him from the annals of time and space.

Under the Ashen Power, even the most fundamental essence of a being could be utterly nullified.

Having completed this task, Chu Yi returned to the array of instruments and devices.

He refrained from tampering with them, having observed every action the therapist took upon entering.

Chu Yi was acutely aware that the therapist had spent considerable time arranging these devices, undoubtedly with a specific purpose in mind.

These were not the kind of instruments one could use without caution.

Chu Yi channeled his psychic force into the machinery. Despite not being an academic whiz and lacking even rudimentary knowledge, this did not deter Chu Yi from exploring the purpose of these devices.

The task was straightforward. If these were ordinary devices produced by a typical civilization, even those from a Fourth Level civilization, Chu Yi would be at a loss.

Ignorance was ignorance, no matter how one looked at it.

However, Chu Yi's approach to the devices of higher civilizations was different.

For those truly advanced civilizations, their technological devices were not merely machines but bore a closer resemblance to the magical artifacts found in the Immortal Demon World!

As Chu Tianfeng had explained, some of the most sophisticated devices from these top-tier civilizations could even harness the power of laws for offensive purposes!

Now that was indeed terrifying.

The technological civilization had the remarkable ability to integrate with the power of laws. This was a hallmark of higher civilizations. Chu Yi speculated that if this device truly originated from such an advanced civilization, it would undoubtedly tap into the power of laws at some level. If that were true, Chu Yi might have a chance to comprehend the purpose of these devices.
