C92 Fourth Uncle
It's undeniable, the flying car was incredibly fast, zipping across half of Redmarsh in the blink of an eye.
Chu Yi did a quick calculation and estimated the flying car's speed to be well over two thousand!
The car soon touched down.
Chu Yi and Lee Zi stepped out and were immediately taken aback by their surroundings.
Though Chu Yi was unfamiliar with the Chu family, the attitudes of Lee Guoqiang and Chu Cencen made it clear that they were part of a formidable and fearsome clan.
Without substantial confidence, why else would Chu Cencen stand up to Sun Wei, even instilling fear in him?
But now, seeing the Chu family's residence, Chu Yi's worldview was thrown into disarray.
He had imagined that a prominent family like the Chu's would live in a sprawling villa or own a multitude of properties, perhaps even occupying a skyscraper.
But what stood before him...
Yes, it was a building.
However, it was unmistakably an ordinary civilian apartment.
It didn't seem to hold any advantages over his own neighborhood—
No, it wasn't just lacking advantages; in Chu Yi's eyes, it couldn't even compare to his own home.
After all, his district, though modest, was at least centrally located.
The Chu family's neighborhood, on the other hand, was practically suburban.
"Does this differ from what you expected?"
Chu Yi nodded subtly.
The reality was indeed startling.
"Come on, our Chu family is not like the other families in Redmarsh."
Different, indeed.
Chu Yi pondered deeply.
Certainly, the Chu family seemed distinct from the rest. Although he hadn't encountered any other families yet, he was aware that even in smaller cities, families showcased their wealth and status through opulent homes, as if it were essential to their prestige.
Following Chu Cencen, Chu Yi entered the modest six-story building.
"Oh my, isn't that Cencen? Welcome home..."
"Cencen, have you found a boyfriend yet? Or should your Auntie set you up with someone?"
"Cencen is back..."
"What a fine-looking young man. Is this your boyfriend, Cencen?"
As soon as Chu Yi and the others entered the building, they were greeted by a bevy of enthusiastic elders.
Chu Cencen managed to maintain a strained smile.
This was exactly why she dreaded coming home. As a child, they'd ask about her grades, and now as an adult, they inquired about her romantic life. It seemed no matter the question, it was always a sore spot for Chu Cencen. These folks had watched her grow up and had always shown her genuine concern from an early age.
Chu Cencen understood that their questions weren't meant to pry for entertainment; they truly cared about her well-being. So, despite the discomfort she felt inside, she kept up a welcoming smile.
It was a tough pill to swallow.
"No, Uncle Li, he's not my boyfriend."
"He's my nephew, my fifth brother's son!"
Upon hearing Chu Cencen's clarification, the group of seniors were visibly taken aback.
Then they approached.
"Your fifth brother, that's Chu Xiong, right?"
"We haven't seen him in years. Didn't Old Chu mention he had passed away?"
One of the elders asked, clearly puzzled, but was promptly slapped by an old lady next to him.
"What are you saying!"
These seniors were sharp. If Chu Xiong had truly passed away, the patriarch of the Chu family would not be behaving as usual.
"Alright, go on home now."
"Old Man Chu is going to be overjoyed seeing his grandson!"
"Yes, indeed. He must be the only male of the third generation in the Chu family..."
The elders gave Chu Yi peculiar looks, their expressions making him slightly uneasy.
The unease stemmed from the formidable presence of these seniors!
To the untrained eye, they seemed like any ordinary group of elders, but the occasional glimpse of their aura sent shivers down Chu Yi's spine.
Diamond Level Great Generals!
Indeed, this group of chatty seniors were all at the pinnacle of the warrior system.
Faced with over a dozen Diamond Level Great Generals, Chu Yi felt his scalp prickle.
Releasing these individuals would undoubtedly have the power to decimate an entire city.
Yet, who could have imagined such a formidable force lurking within this seemingly dilapidated neighborhood?
After exchanging pleasantries with the elderly residents, Chu Cencen hastily departed with Chu Yi.
For Chu Cencen, interacting with these individuals was more taxing than any space training exercise.
"Many of them are friends of the old man, and quite a few are even his archenemies from his youth. But for some reason, as they've aged, they've all moved here to become neighbors with him."
Her tone was even, but Chu Yi could detect an undercurrent of pride.
Chu Yi understood that, in Chu Cencen's view, it all boiled down to one thing: charisma.
"We live on the sixth floor. Don't be fooled by the building's modest exterior; you'll understand once we're inside."
They reached the sixth floor as they conversed.
The building appeared old and unremarkable from the outside, revealing nothing of its true character.
Upon opening the door, Chu Yi and Lee Zi followed Chu Cencen inside.
Indeed, Chu Cencen hadn't exaggerated.
The house might not seem large from the outside, but the interior space was surprisingly ample.
"Five hundred square meters..."
Chu Cencen's words briefly took Chu Yi aback.
At first glance, each apartment seemed to span only a hundred or two hundred square meters, but Chu Cencen claimed it was five hundred...
Surveying the area, Chu Yi realized Chu Cencen's assessment was accurate; the living room alone was likely over a hundred square meters.
The decor was not overly lavish, exuding a simple, rustic charm.
While some might find it antiquated, for Chu Yi, it felt perfectly suited.
"Old man, guess who's here!"
Chu Cencen called out loudly as they entered.
"Is that Cencen I hear?"
A woman's voice responded from within a room.
A moment later, a stunning woman emerged.
"Fourth sister-in-law, you're home..."
Fourth sister-in-law...
This must be the wife of his fourth uncle.
Chu Yi remembered Chu Cencen mentioning that the second generation of the Chu family included five brothers and one sister.
Chu Xiong was the fifth son, making him one of Chu Yi's uncles. Chu Cencen, on the other hand, was the youngest of the bunch. Realizing this, Chu Yi couldn't help but marvel at his grandmother's prolificacy, despite never having met her.
"Just yesterday, I returned home with your fourth brother, and now here you are today," the fourth sister-in-law said as she glanced at Chu Yi, who stood behind Chu Cencen. "Isn't this Chu Yi? You've come home too..."
Chu Yi felt somewhat bewildered. It seemed as though his aunt had known him for ages. Yet, no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't recall any memories of her. "Yes, that's right..." he replied hesitantly.
"I'll let your fourth brother know right away. He'll be over the moon to hear that Chu Yi is home," she said. This aunt was not only strikingly beautiful but also had a way with words. One might think Chu Yi and his fourth uncle shared a special bond.
"Now that we're home, please, make yourself comfortable," she added.
Chu Cencen, known outside as the Demoness for her talent, beauty, and background, was nothing short of a goddess. At home, though, she had shed that persona and sprawled lazily on the sofa. Lee Zi sat beside her, feeling a bit out of place—it was her first time meeting Chu Yi's family, and Chu Yi's as well.
The two sat in silence, a stark contrast to the relaxed Chu Cencen. It wasn't long before a booming voice echoed from outside. "I heard Yi's back! Come on, let me have a look. Today's the day I finally get to see him in the flesh!"
Chu Yi was taken aback. Before he could gather his thoughts, a figure burst into the room. "Chu Yi, you've finally made it home." Chu Yi had expected a burly man based on the voice, but the person before him was a surprise. His fourth uncle was indeed tall, standing at least 6'5", yet he exuded an air of gentleness and sophistication rather than brute strength.
Chu Yi was beginning to believe in the existence of the scholarly family that Chu Cencen had spoken of earlier.
Upon entering the room, his fourth uncle, Chu Yun, began to look around, and his gaze quickly fell upon Chu Yi, who was seated. His eyes brightened as he approached.
"Chu Yi, welcome home," he said warmly.
"I'm your fourth uncle, Chu Yun."
Seeing the joy and excitement on his uncle's face, Chu Yi felt a stirring in his heart. This, he thought, must be what family feels like. Despite not being able to fully understand his uncle's strength, the sincerity was unmistakably real.
"Fourth uncle, I've returned," Chu Yi replied.
At the sound of his name, Chu Yun's eyes shone with even greater excitement, and he gave Chu Yi a hearty pat on the shoulder.
"Take a seat. Cencen, fetch some fruit, will you?"
"Sure. Yesterday, I picked up some supplies from the Yasa Star System," Chu Yun continued. "I found some fruits that looked quite good, so I brought them home."
Chu Cencen rolled her eyes. Being the youngest among both the elders and her generation, she often found herself with the most tasks to handle in the Chu family. Glancing at Chu Yi, she thought that since it was his first time back, he should be the one doing these chores. But there would be plenty of time for that later.
She sauntered off into another room and returned with the fruits her uncle had mentioned.
Chu Yi's pupils narrowed slightly. Initially, he hadn't thought much about the fruits, but upon seeing them, a sense of astonishment washed over him. Were these really just fruits? He hadn't tasted them yet, but he could already sense the formidable spiritual energy emanating from within.
