Chapter Two

Alicia sighed before continuing.

My mum and I were coming back from the church one evening, when we meant my dad outside frowning as usual.

he insults my mum calling her all sought of names,then when he's through with her he finally faces me.

calling me a fool, all i know is to go to church,I am not as smart as other children.

that is useless and bastard.

Me and my mum dare not raise our face up and talk less of replying to him back until he is through and satisfied.

All we always say is that "it will be well".

He entered inside with anger and shut the door behind us.

We slept outside that night.

I can't do anything to help, I hate to always see my mum crying, hoping for the best.

I can feel her pain but I can't do anything to help.

"Mum let's run away."i held her hand but she redrawn back saying "l love your dad".

"But he doesn't love you."I will say.

"Of course he did."my mum will say.

She will then close the topic with

"man is the head of the family that we must obey and respect him in every way, and as his wife she loves,obey and stand with her husband in anyways"she will say smiling even when she is in pain.

"But he doesn't deserve someone like you mother."I always said.

My mum would get angry with me after many ways to make her understand what we called love.

"Mum, he is going to kill you one day.

lets go far away."i said.

my mum looked at me angrily.

"Alicia,what does your holy book tell you?"whenever she said that I already knew where she was going.

"WHAT THEY GOD HAS JOINED TOGETHER, LET NO MAN PUT ASUNDER.

Oh mum I miss you(tears flow down).
